Can anyone remember when we used to be explorers? - Jean Luc Picard
Just want to say i had a quick test of the new updates, and i am very impressed with what has been done so far. You guys definetly know the direction the mod needs to go.
The only part i had to do with 0.4e is getting the damn thing to finally work in 1.041 (the total rebuild using lessons learned from the 0.3e failure), and the UI changes. The Research, Abilitys, and the Borg are all Jay, Loki, and the rest of the team. If i left anyone out do not be dissapointed. All did an outstanding job, and all deserve equal credit. There is still some polish left on the research from what i see, but i think 0.4e will dwarf any other SoA 2 release we made to date. The changes are just too numorous to list. It literally is a new mod. I thank each an every SoA2 Team member who participated during, and in my absense.
I think there are just a few rough edges left to iron out, and we got a release. Like jay said it will not be complete... What mod ever is? However theres far more in this release than any other we made. Enjoy it when it comes out.
Until it comes out get your trek fix with the OS version
Oh really??? AWESOME!!!!! This has been one of my bigggest problems with Sins, and why I was really excited to see they ramped up the difficulty on Deplomacy. Most of the time, unless it becomes a battle of attrition and a numbers game, it's getting fairly east to beet an opponent on Unfair no matter what race it is. The hardest AI opponent I think so far has been playing against the Empire in SOGE...
So I'm all sorts of happy to hear this!!! Believe me... first game I'll pick one race against the rest and set them all to unfair...
Cry Havok!!!!!! And let slip the Dogs of War!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THANK'S STRESS WE AIM TO PLEASE
ALL TEAM MEMBERS . PLEASE FINISH UP WITH YOUR WORK AND SUBMIT TO SYNC ASAP. , IF YOUR UNABLE TO COMPLETE PLEASE GET AHOLD OF JTAYLORPCS , AND OR ANOTHER TEAM ADMIN. THANKS THE SOA2 TEAM
Priority One Communiqué
The following are sensor readings from a classified Federation Outpost.
Incoming Data Feed Standby
Starfleet Had a Tactical Response Fleet Station at the outpost, Within Minutes the Borg assault force decimated both the Starbase and Garrisoned fleet. The Borg Fleet didn’t even attempt to assimilate, any Starfleet forces. Estimated loss of live at 5 billion. Advise all Federation Forces to Red alert status. The following sensor image was captured by the USS Defiant, while on a cloaked mission.
Borg TransWarp Signatures Detected, Please standby for more information!!!!
End Priority One Communiqué
Very cool... Those Borg cubes look GINORMOUS!
WOOT! perhaps it's not too long after all! You guys did some great borg work there too!
:to comm officer: Signal the fleet! Form up on lead and set condition red! When the borg come calling, Admiral Teridoc will not be found wanting!
Jesus christ, that unicomplex is scary. My fleet is on standby!
... Amazing...
Wow... simply wow.
<Red Alert status confirmed.>
Let's go bomb us a unicomplex eh?
Multiplayer shall be good . We planning on having regular scheduled games (GMT-time) again?
1 word: Magnifique
Can't wait.
Oh yeah............ this is gonna be fun!!!
Following the attack on the undisclosed starbase. A frightening signal was recieved by Starfleet Command. The same messege was recieved, and translated by the Klingon High Councel, The Romulan Senate, The Dominion Command Center on Cardassia Prime. Plus any, and all subspace recievers that could interpret the messege. It was a herald of things to come. The Factions of the four warring empires mutually, and with haste called for a ceasefire. Knowing full well what this new turn of events meant. Not long after the messege was recieved transwarp signatures were detected within all four of the major empires space. Numbers of signatures are estimated in the thousands.
It thundered though the speakers in every known language. In the familiar yet a much deeper harmony than previously heard before. Like the voice of billions all speaking as one..
To all malfunctioning, and chaotic spieces in the area of space which you call the Alpha, and Beta Quadrants... Hear us.. For these are the only words we shall speak.. Your attempt to destroy us was futile.... It only served to unify us... It helped us to find vulnerabilities.. Imperfections within the collective... We have eliminated those Imperfections... We have adapted.. We are now one... We are perfection... We are the Borg.
Strength is irrelivent... Your archaic cultures lack the comprehention to defeat us... Your technology is inferior against the whole... We are one... As it was meant to be... We are perfection... We are the Borg.
Assimilation is irrelivent... We no longer require your biological, or technological distinctivenes... We are perfection... We are the Borg... You are irrelivent.
We can no longer allow your species to exist... You are flawed...Chaotic... Irrelivent... You will only seek to undo perfection... We can not allow this... Make whatever archaic rituals you make before your destruction... For like a malfunctioning component, or a disease within a biological organisim you shall be removed... Prepare to be annihilated... There can only be perfection.. There can only be the Borg...
Resistance is futile.
To the few that have dealt with the Borg in the past this herald was disturbing indeed. It was assumed that with the destruction of the Queen the Borg would have no focus. No leadership. It was a false assumption. The queens were the flaw. The imperfection. Without the queens the borg united into a true collective. Now more dangerous than ever before.
So now the borg are a unified mob with super-tech who want us annihilated? That's just plain old scary .
And stress/SoA2Team (guessing JTaylor), good work on the storyline- definitely getting people psyched for the game!
I always thought having a "Queen" calling the shots was weak and went against the idea of a "Collective" mind. Just the idea of a central entity controling everything goes against the idea of "The Collective". One has to wonder where the idea of a queen came from? Maybe the Borg came up with it from assimilating too many human ideas? Or perhaps it was a way to understand humanity, something along the lines of turning Picard to Loqutus of Borg??? And now they see humanity need no understanding... it just need eliminating!!!
Also, what of Species 8472??? If the Borg are back and stronger than ever... did they finally secure the nanobot technology required to defeat and assimilate 8472??? And if that's the case, what technology did they pick up from them??? Remember the very end of Scorpoin part 1. (Arguably one of the very best Voyager episodes) Have the Borg aquired Planet-killers now???
Whatever, this is now a much more frightning scenario... with the Queen gone, there is no center of power... no single entity to make a mistake (like underestimating Janeway)... no imperfections... and no command structure to target and try and destroy...
This is bad... this is VERY bad!!!
is there any plans species 8472 to be in this mod
Lol. I always figured that the Borg just gave up on assimilating us. After multiple attempts to assimilate the Federation and then trying to go back in time even, and assimilate us in the past, we've defeated them time after time again. Even more so if you want to include Voyager's efforts in the delta quadrant.
Instead of assimilating us, they probably deem us as something only to destroy now. The Borg tend to use the "scorched earth" policy an awful lot. "If we can't have it, then we'll make sure, that no one can"
I'm not 100% on Species 8472. In Scorpion they did develop nano technology to combat Species 8472, but I'm not entirely sure they were able to fully assimilate it. Only destroy it. Since 8472 is wholly a very very advanced biological species, to the point where their ships are living organisms, it just might not be possible to actually assimilate them into the collective. It's usuallly easier to destroy than acquire. But that is my two cents worth.
I'd say something about the Borg, that happens within the Titan series of novels... but I'd rather not ruin it for anyone else who wants to read it.
Actually, if you want to go by any "book" canon, Captain Kirk returned from beyond the grave to beat the crap out of Worf in one-on-one combat (in Klingon style), flew to the borg homeworld, and kiled the entire collective.
Of course he did, 'cause William Shatner wrote about it:

Haha, yeah I have the Return. Pretty good book, though very self-serving
And Alpha_Sniper, I'm just starting the second one, so don't ruin it for me!
Meh. I'm checking back every hour now, just to see if anything else has been posted. Can we get an itty bitty hint as to the release date? such as "Not This Weekend" or "Before The End Of The Month But Not Before Wednesday At The Earliest"?
Is it soup yet?
Before the End of the Month is the goal.
Does anyone remember "Best of Both Worlds?" The collective didnt have a leader then. They chose picard to become thier "voice" as Locutus. It was Gene Roddenburys idea that they shouldnt have any central organization at all. Every being functioned, and thought as one. Redundancy, Adaptation, and being Relentness was what they were all about. THAT was the "Oh Shit!" Borg we all knew, and loved. The the Killer B's (berman and braga) introduced the queen in 1st contact. That was the beginning of the retarded jack in the box borg. Dada dada dadadada da boing here i am,,, Immm a boooorg! BLAM one torpedo and its dead. They got more retarded as voyager went along. Can you blame the collective for destorying all of its "backup" queens? Best of both worlds is the "standard" we are using for our borg.
I think its safe to assume that the borg wiped out 8472. They wouldnt let an unassimilatable species that is dangerous exist. They could have aquired the nanoprobe technology, or found another way to adapt. End result the same 8472 is extinct. The borg have achieved perfection from their point of view. They are on a quest now to wipe out any remote threat to thier existance. All who is not borg will seek to undo perfection in thier eyes. They may assimilate some if only to replenish numbers. They also know how powerfull a tool fear is. Shock units of assimilated alpha quadrant starships may be used in battles. Other than fast replacements the Borg no longer need organics. So yes they are now using scorched earth, and "final solution" tactics. Not with one cube. They broght most of the collective with them this time. They mean busness.
The real question is.. How will the factions handle this? Busness as usual? fight them while fighting each other, or will all four factions unite against the borg? The Dominion have the most to fear because if the borg assimilate any jem hadar or vorta then the location of the founders homeworld is compromised. A founder cant exactly disquise themselves as a borg, and borg nanoprobes will assimilate a founder (in theory). We all know the dominion only exist to protect the founders. You think a borg drone is dangerous... Imagine a "shapeshifting" borg drone.
