Hello Distant Stars players!!!
We are pleased to start promoting a community around the mod we love to create and you love to play!
This topic is to help promote online play. No matter what you play, PvP, PvAI or PvPvAI! We will be having regular game times for everyone to gather and join up playing Distant Star!
The meeting place for setting up any Distant Stars game is currently Channel 'Distant Stars' on ICO. Once your there feel free to set up games among each other! Another thing we would like to promote is using Distant Stars in your game name. For example here are some game names: Distant Stars 1, Distant Stars 2, etc etc. You are all smart people. Warning:
Be sure to turn your graphics settings down to lowest and turn off all of the special effects like bloom and skyboxes... You're dealing with net traffic and other people's computers so to avoid unnecessary desyncs or disconnects, do your part and turn everything down.
We also suggest you Trim your Empire Tree to reduce mid-end game lag. Play with only the minimum ammount in your Empire Tree as you need!
You also have to factor in Daylight Saving Time. Which bumps up EST to -4 GMT and not -5.
And just b/c we have a few preplaned time already set doesnt mean others cant attempt to set other times their self.
It is okay, my time, and the main player base time zone are stretched to the max, but I guess that on Friday and Saturday, I can play from 0:01 pm till 6 pm EST ( 18:00 GMT till 00:00 GMT dutch timezone(GMT+1 ))
edit: Whoever invented timezones should be shot!
Its 0:08 AM for me atm, one a website (http://www.timeanddate.com/library/abbreviations/timezones/na/est.html) it is 5:08 PM so for me it's 7 hours differents
Meaning from my fist sentence it would be 11 am till 5 pm on Friday / Saturday or .. something

Yeah so I jumped on for about 20 minutes and Valeira was idling in the channel and no DS Botz, and teamspeak wouldn't connect to the server... So I stopped trying... Will check again in a little while after I eat.

Well....I didnt get on. B/c no one said they were interested. So Ive been mindlessing mining in EVE to kill time. Sigh...
Thought i might give MP a try, though, i suspect i will lose quickly enough. I'm a casual player, love the mods and play them and make them and have thought of MP every once in awhile, though to be honest i didn't think it would be fair to the other players on my team, since i'm not very good. But it would be nice to do maybe a 1v1 or 2v2 if both teams were friends and not too badly hurt if i bombed out of the gate.
Anyway, will try looking everyone up on the weekend. Homework is done, so should have some time. Though 10 hour games will probably not be possible for me. maybe one or two hour ones though.

Yea sorry about idling yesterday. One of my friends wanted to try out sins so I showed him this mod and started teaching him the game. Took awhile
I'm up for a game tonight if there are people willing to do so. I may be able to get my friend to join as well.
Yeah, I suck at MP. It's strange how I can take on 9 AI's in a single player game and win, but add in a couple people in a MP comp stomp and all of a sudden my skill drops... Maybe it's because I have to share planets rather then just take over or something...
To be honest, I dont think anyone really is great MP. Not to knock anyones skills. But given the fact that most of us play Comp stomps, offline, any one who play with the 'pros' on ICO in un modded SINS is sure to kill all of us without hesitation. But, I dont think we are trying to be hardcore 'pro' well I know Im not. Guess I cant speak for everyone.
Anyhow if I was to guess I would say we try to play together for the good times and fun. Not for ranks and all that stuff.
We do play alot of Comp Stomps....but I am liking the FFA with Diplomacy. Even if we have 'pre-set' teams LOL I am thinking btw for those who are interested in getting a permanent Teamspeak channel and/or server. B/c if nothing else I enjoy our chats and taunts.
