We are pleased to start promoting a community around the mod we love to create and you love to play!
This topic is to help promote online play. No matter what you play, PvP, PvAI or PvPvAI! We will be having regular game times for everyone to gather and join up playing Distant Star!
The meeting place for setting up any Distant Stars game is currently Channel 'Distant Stars' on ICO. Once your there feel free to set up games among each other! Another thing we would like to promote is using Distant Stars in your game name. For example here are some game names: Distant Stars 1, Distant Stars 2, etc etc. You are all smart people. Warning:
Be sure to turn your graphics settings down to lowest and turn off all of the special effects like bloom and skyboxes... You're dealing with net traffic and other people's computers so to avoid unnecessary desyncs or disconnects, do your part and turn everything down.
We also suggest you Trim your Empire Tree to reduce mid-end game lag. Play with only the minimum ammount in your Empire Tree as you need!
Gotta love the man's enthusiasm for a butt whoopin. One of these days he'll do something stupid and when some big ass troglodyte comes barrelin his way, he'll just stand there with a content look on his face saying, "Yeah, I kinda deserve this." Hell if I've never been there before.

MP is a bit hard for a variety of issues. Meanwhile, with the RP you have to do what you can to catch up and then PM those that appear in a place where you want to insert yourself. And Carbon is the lead on the rules, but Stant or Ryat are well versed as well.
TS Server will shut down on May 4.

We use IP instead. Although during that last game we ran into the speed up bug. Did anyone find a solution for that yet?
Ok i am using DS 0.99 B5 and it works with 1.32
Do i need to patch using online update v1.1? cuz if i do it doesn't work. and late game lag is mad with 4000 fleet.
In DS/Gameinfo i changed fleetSupplyData-Small fleetSupplyScalar 0.75 to 0.58 and that game me a supply of 2300ish
It helps a lot with lag later on but am sure i saw somewhere that the online update changes all this and probably wouldn't be able to build 32 caps which i was.
Am i using wrong version of mod or is there another version of the online update out?
I am going to be playing this with a friend so i want the best possible experience.
Anyone up for some DS gaming with an absolute noob (read: not so good player) Saturday evening EST or Sunday morning/afternoon EST?

Well that would likely depend on how long / large of a game we're looking to play. I have a poor internet connection so the larger the game the more clicks I have to attempt before they stick game side.
If I can manage to keep my Saturday night under control I could see 11am-1pm EST start time? So far I'm pretty darn flexible as long as it doesn't run too late (i.e. past 6-8pm EST)
Not only am I rusty, I have an 'even' challenge playing against a 80% mix of hard & normal AI!!!
Also, Beta B5 straight from the download correct? Nothing additional needed?
Okay, I'm central, so 10-12ish works. I don't care how big the map is or anything, so we can figure that out on the spot. I doubt I'll go past 6 EST cause I have things I need to do here and there.
Beta 5 should work. Most of the bugs are cosmetic.
As for rust, we can do anything from FFA to Comp Stomp. Again, something to play with when we get in the lobby. I have Teamspeak, so if your connection can handle it, I can plan a chat. If not, that's cool.
We'll have to see how the connection is. I have TS3 and the head set to use it if my '1meg down / .1meg up' service can handle it.
Look for LittleBoshimi in ICO. I'll be in the DS chat channel, probably closer to 11am EST.

Thats ok changing the fleetSupplyData-Small fleetSupplyScalar 0.75 to 0.58 will do as a quick fix for just now.
I maxed out my fleet with 32 Caps and 50ish Heavy cruisers and it was playing well better than before, alot less lag but it probably didn't help that i built over 1000 scouts just to see what would happen.
lol no 1000 scouts, while fun, does not help with lag.
my internet works!!! ... stupid Charter ...
Any case, didn't see anyone in the TS3 server listed in the OP or in the ICO lobby? Maybe we can try another time?
