We are pleased to start promoting a community around the mod we love to create and you love to play!
This topic is to help promote online play. No matter what you play, PvP, PvAI or PvPvAI! We will be having regular game times for everyone to gather and join up playing Distant Star!
The meeting place for setting up any Distant Stars game is currently Channel 'Distant Stars' on ICO. Once your there feel free to set up games among each other! Another thing we would like to promote is using Distant Stars in your game name. For example here are some game names: Distant Stars 1, Distant Stars 2, etc etc. You are all smart people. Warning:
Be sure to turn your graphics settings down to lowest and turn off all of the special effects like bloom and skyboxes... You're dealing with net traffic and other people's computers so to avoid unnecessary desyncs or disconnects, do your part and turn everything down.
We also suggest you Trim your Empire Tree to reduce mid-end game lag. Play with only the minimum ammount in your Empire Tree as you need!

Yes, reading up is good to do, but I'm sure knowing the most recent activities is probably more important. Especially since we PM stuff and new characters to the region probably would have little clue what's what.

When I finish my battle at Ethea on the pre-beta patch version, I will update to the 1.2 patch and its DS version, so expect to be seeing me eventually.
I am sporadically available but I watch this thread here from time to time. What nights are typically good nights for people (if outside of the Saturday/Sunday spectrum)? I'm not all that great of a Sins player but I do enjoy a truly epic game and while I may lose I will still have fun.
On now, hosting a regular since no DS players are around. Will gladly change that!
I'll see if I can get on but no guarantees. Have a list of "HoneyDos" to do.

[GENERAL]
Jump Angle changed from 15 to 25
Doubling Cap Experience given for killing an enemy Cap
Reduced AntiMedium damage vs Captial Armor from .75 to .55
Reduced AntiVeryHeavy damage vs Captial Armor from .75 to .65
Increased AntiHeavy damage vs Capital Armor from .5 to .6
Changed ChanceToHit AntiVeryLight against Interceptors from .75 to .55
Changed ChanceToHit AntiVeryLight against Bombers from .75 to .90
Scouts weapon damage has been increased. (Exact numbers are still WIP)
Fightes and Bombers will now receive a debuff for accuracy.(This is another WIP, and will be exlplained further in detail)
Carriers now carry a buff for their attached SC. (See above SC debuff for the other half of this. Again WIP and will give more deails before actually release)
[TEC]
Scouts Time Explosive damage doubled. Timer reduced to 7 mins.
Shield Restore now grants a small increase in max mitigation for a small duration.
Increased Cluster Warhead AoE slightly.
[ADVENT]
Scouts Martyrdom damage was increased. Damage doubled against structures.
Reduced Hull to bring it more in line with the other Scouts.
Domina turn rate increased slightly
Perserveance now grants Slight Phase Missile block.
[VASARI]
Scouts Phase out AM comsumption decrease slightly.
Flak no longer have Phase Missiles. Now uses Beams. Charged Missiles still applies to the unit.
Fighters no longer have Phase Missiles, Now uses Pulse Guns.
Subversion now damages planet, and reduces trade.
Phase Out Hull no longer phases out friendly unit, instead grants them invulnerability with abilites and weapons disabled. Also increased shield restore on friendly unit.
PLEASE NOTE THIS LIST WILL BE UPDATED IN THIS POST AS I WORK MORE ON IT AND SUCH. THE CURRENT LIST IS JUST THE START AND THINGS IVE STARTED OR ALREADY CHANGED. UNTIL THE DOWNLOAD LINK IS POSTED THIS ATTEMPT AT BETTER BALANCE IS A WIP.
Flak no longer have phase missiles? This will certainly be interesting indeed.
I think it's to counter the overuse of phase missiles, which when researched to max, allow most Vasari vessels to do unholy damage to any other race. Kinda sucks to have flak frigates screw you out of your big dog fleet.
While this is true ... it's about the only effective weapon they have late game. Mixing this with putting pulse guns on Fighters and their naturally slow economy as well will limit them even more early and later game than most people think.
Not trying to say, "Don't nerf the vasarii" I just think that this is going to be a potentially rough learning experience for balance once you start tweaking actual mechanics instead of just damage amounts and types ...
I don't know, we'll see how it goes and I'll give it a chance. I haven't looked at all the numbers and recharge rates etc.

dont think i like the weapon changes.... and not sure i liked doubling the already increased exp values for killing cap ships...
the phase out change is....odd? it seems more powerfull... but, i have to wonder it it will stall break targetting, since this was actually the biggest effect of the ability.
I have to wonder if accuracy against fighters must be dropped so low. 75% +> 55% is a BIG change... and if you had a particular advent cap ship, now your down to 25%... *shrug*
These numbers are not set in stone. We are just trying to see if they would balance better.
If we ever get a game going again.
We can give it a try. And I already know I'm perfectly happy with the exp gained for caps. Hope that's not the goal for SP, cause pirates would break that.
Will the OP be updated to the newest release? Or is everyone still running .7?
