Hello Distant Stars players!!!
We are pleased to start promoting a community around the mod we love to create and you love to play!
This topic is to help promote online play. No matter what you play, PvP, PvAI or PvPvAI! We will be having regular game times for everyone to gather and join up playing Distant Star!
The meeting place for setting up any Distant Stars game is currently Channel 'Distant Stars' on ICO. Once your there feel free to set up games among each other! Another thing we would like to promote is using Distant Stars in your game name. For example here are some game names: Distant Stars 1, Distant Stars 2, etc etc. You are all smart people. A Quick Rundown:Where:Ironclad Online (ICO) the ChannelDistant Stars; Also our Teamspeak channel. When:WHENEVER!
Teamspeak:
We have recently started using Teamspeak to exapand the fun we can have. We encourage you to drop in and socialize with us! Any questions about the status of the channel can be directed to -Ue_Carbon.
TS SERVER INFO:
Address- 69.61.15.106
Port- 4293
Channel- Sins of a Solar Empire
Also we would like to get a list of ICO players names so we can all add each others as friends, to set up games beyond the set game time listed above.
Current ICO Players Names:Ryat-Ue_Carbon PbheadDraakjacktOranosRoesh Free TradersSyneptusVonlesto{SB}=>Dead_rat{SB}=>WarfleetMr.G
Feel free to post up game time beyond the current set times, and letting us know your ICO name so we can add you to the list!!! We will hopefully see some of you ingame!!!
Warning:
Be sure to turn your graphics settings down to lowest and turn off all of the special effects like bloom and skyboxes... You're dealing with net traffic and other people's computers so to avoid unnecessary desyncs or disconnects, do your part and turn everything down.
We also suggest you Trim your Empire Tree to reduce mid-end game lag. Play with only the minimum ammount in your Empire Tree as you need!
Yeah, sorry, wasn't that kind of a visit. Headed home in 30 though.
I would enjoy playing DS online, but have the problem of "No Diplomacy".
I can get it very soon though. I could be on at the times mentioned, every so often (my youth allows a much greater freedom). Got an offer from Draakjacht to play DS. Already have it and enjoy it, I just need some tips on playing online. I mod much more than I play. If I got some sort of training or tutoring I would have enough courage to try to play ICO more regularly.
-Syneptus
You don't need any training, most of us suck and we all just play for fun anyway. Best way to learn though is just get in there and join us.
Update on MP verison:
Next update wont come out till Major Stress releases tweaked SC meshes.
Also doubling the effects planets do. Maybe that will allow where you fight to also matter somewhat.
I was playing against a bunch of Vasari last night and that piece of shit phase gate background noise loop is bugging the hell out of me because it won't go away even after I've blown that little fucker up, so I'm making some changes to see if I can stop the infinite loop effect that's happening. If I get it to work in a way that isn't noticeably different in the game, I'll send the changes over to you to include.
Edit:
Update. None of the changes I've made to the BuffPhaseGateModuleSpawnerCaster.entity file seems to make any kind of a difference where the sound loop matters, however, I did discover that if I have the loop playing I can just zoom in right next to the ships that are having a decent sized battle in another gravity well without the phase node activated and the loop after a few seconds stops. It of course, resumes again if you zoom back into the phase gate, or a planet with it active, but at least I know how to stop it. Though I'm still going to keep looking for a way to make it stop on it's own since it would suck to be a Vasari player and have the loop never go away because you're creating nodes everywhere.
I can play the entrenchment version of DS on ICO, RIGHT NOW!
I will be on for the next while.
I have no mic, so no teamspeak.
I have to lure someone over to ICO... hmmm...
-edit-
Awful lot of constraints for me. Eh?
Heh. Teamspeak can be used like a text chat too, so you don't really need a mic. I've actually been on that for about 12 hours now. Just turned it all off so I can get some sleep before this evening's game in 4 hours. It's best to check that because many times someone will be idle in there even if they're not on ICO, even during the week.
any one going to be on for tonights game?
besides roesh if he gets some sleep
Dang, I am very bad at online. I just played a game and got BEYOND steamrolled. (of course I was playing against kbroke)
I cannot be on tonight. I am busy.
np
Yeah, didn't manage to get any sleep.

Déjà vu.
This has been brought up somewhere before hasn't it? I don't remember where though. *Shrug*
Anyway, if you guys play every day at different hours, how come you don't join us for some MP action on our weekly scheduled events? Typically the Saturday evening game is the one that get's the most attention.
No you have not yourself said it before but there has been others who suggest Hamatici or something along those lines. They said almost exactly like you... 'Hey we play all the time come join us!' And our response we been on ICO this entire time, you join us.
Before we set this topic up with times and such, I can see how finding someone would be hard. Even more so for a mod, but there are at least 1 or 2 who show up almost every night we plan things. Saturday usually brings the most people. The times are always the same now so there is no reason to miss it if your looking for a game.
Okay, before we start strong arming players one way or another, let's just keep in mind that ICO is already built into the game and we do have set times. For some of us, those are the only times we really put aside time for MP. If anyone wants to play outside of those times, the best bet is to either pop into ICO real quick for a look or, better yet, check to see if anyone is on TeamSpeak, where most of us meet beforehand on a Sins of a Solar Empire - Distant Stars channel. For anyone who doesn't want to download additional programs in order to broaden their MP base, that is their choice.
Are we strong arming? Not my intention.
Well, the single thing that's bothering me is that in order to find players on ICO, Sins must be running at all time. That's not the case with comodo, when you can play others games while waiting for players to come online.
I'm not here to say "Use Comodo or i steal your toys" or "Ico is @$@#@!!@", i just wanted to point that there is an alternative to ICO, nothing more
Strong arming? Way to take an innocent comment and turn it around on us Teal. Shut the fuck up.
I've spent my whole lunch hour watching RvB and really just needed to say something with the word fuck involved. Thanks for the assist.
Yeah, that's why we idle on Teamspeak more times then not. Not that running the game windowed causes much of an issue anyway.
and blame things on Teal
Just noting the similarities of the situation.
douche
anyways... i wont be able to make it saturday, but i might be able to make it sunday, we will see.
It's spelled "Touché."
