With the end of the decade approaching, I've been seeing a lot of "Top _____ of the Decade" lists popping up. So I thought I would make my own, but instead of them just being based off of my own (very biased ) opinions, it should be everybody's opinions. So for the next 3ish weeks, everybody will be able to nominate whatever games they think are the best of the decade. I will put them all into a list here, and at the end of the 3 weeks, everyone will get to vote on what they think are the best. Voting will be open for 2 weeks, then I will post the results.
Rules:
Nominations are closed! Cast your votes for your favorite games of the decade here: http://surveys.polldaddy.com/s/7600F3F8F369957A/ You may only vote once, so make it count. When you vote, make sure only one game is ranked 1, one game is ranked 2, and so on.
Nominations
Top 25 Games of the Decade, as voted by You!!:
OMg no Nexus The Jupiter Incident.
One fairly old game that was maybe not hit but an awesome game nevertheless should have been in the list
When it came to graphics it was like Crysis of its time!
Less than a week left to vote!
I'm curious, what is your method going to be for analyzing the results?
My top 10 most favourite games for me would be (in no particualer order):
1. Sins of a Solar Empire
2. Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory
3. Sim City 4
4. Counter Strike: Source
5. Half Life 2
6. Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion
7. Star Wars: Empire at War
8. Star Trek: Armada 2
9. Homeworld 2
10. Left for Dead 2
As you can see i'm a newer gamer than most of you guys here!
I think this is what I voted:
1. World of Warcraft
2. Halo
3. Half Life 2
4. Diablo II
5. Warcraft III
I felt bad about putting three Blizzard games in the top five. The rest I don't remember.
Civ 4 + expansions
Civ3 + expansions
Joint Operations
Fallout 3
Oblivion
Empire Earth 1/2
Spore
World of Warcraft
Half-Life 2
Team Fortress 2
Left4Dead 1/2
Each rank will give a certain number of points, which will be added up. #1 is worth 20 pts, #2 is 17 pts, #3 is 15 pts, #4 is 13, down to #10=1 pt. So if a game got 3 #1's, 5 #4's, and 1 #9, its score would be 128. The "winner" will be the game with the most points.
EDIT: I almost forgot. I need more votes!!! Only 47 have been cast so far! Tell everyone you know to come vote, spread the word around the forums! Quickly, there are only 3 days left to vote!
My top 7. I have the feeling some good games might be missing on your list. But I'm sticking to it:
1 Galactic Civilizations 2 + Expansions
2 Rome: Total War
3 Civilization 4 + Expansions
4 Sins of a Solar Empire
5 Homeworld 2
6 Left4Dead
7 Star Trek: Armada 2
1. Civ IV - best game ever
2. Kings Bounty Armored Princess
3. Fotball Manager series
Voted, of course being the game of the decade, such 2 great games as fallout 1 and 2 are not in there, much superior from sanbox rpg point of view to fallout3, but anywhoo. lots of good games on the list and was hardpressed to vote.
Votes 1-3 was easy but the rest is not accurate for me since I haven't played some of'em (but I know they're better then many others on the list.)
Just a couple hours left! Hurry up and vote!
The votes are tallied! Results are in the OP Happy New Year!
so much stardock love- a bit too much if you ask me
It is the Stardock forums that everyone is posting from
Good list. Only thing I see missing is Deus Ex... and maybe Homeworld 2 but mods make that game amazing... Other than that good stuff!
lol wow my #3 and #7 I believe are same ones I picked nice!
Sins is #1 and Galciv2 is #3? Gee, how did that happen? This poll seems a bit um, unscientific.
I don't think I ever claimed it would be scientific Oh, and btw, Sins didn't just win, it won by a lot In fact, the whole top three was waaay ahead of all the others.
You can't put in Warcraft III without Age of Mythology. AoM inspired so many features of WCIII, only AoM has a better storyline. Also, you can build walls. WALLS!
Seems like a very good list. I haven't myself played Sins, and Im a bit surprised Battlefront got in before KOTOR, but other than that very similar to something I would of picked.
But i'd like to see some more love for Persona
I disagree with a lot of that list, especially the abundance of the Stardock games. I love Stardock but the games listed there aren't really in the top 25, sadly. I agree with obvious ones; World of Warcraft, Halo, Rome Total War, Diablo 2, Elder Scrolls 3 and Super Mario Galaxy and Fallout 3, but a lot of the others I tend to disagree with. For example; what the hell is Empire at War doing there? I'm really confused. Then again, I'm not going to dispute the opinions of everyone else. Still, where oh where is Deus Ex? If only this list hadn't been mainly engineered by Stardock lovers lol I mean there is no feasible way that Sins of a Solar Empire could be number 1......I would agree with Half Life 2, but then this is all just my opinion. Still......I'm a bit weirded out.
An interesting list, but one that is very different from my own top 25. I am definitely glad to see Morrowind and Baldur's Gate 2 in the top 10, and I can see how 4 or 5 of the other games could be reasonably considered for the top 25. But there are some inclusions and omissions that just don't make sense, based on the original list of nominees. For example, no Unreal Tournament 2k4, Oblivion, Dawn of War, Rise of Nations, KotOR, GTA3? Seriously?
Oh well, I guess there's no accounting for taste.
Wow, didn't expect the list to be so Stardock baised. They make some good games but they are not the top games of the decade. Can see Sins being up somewhat high and Gal Civ 2 being on the list but not 1 and 3. I guess it's to be expected from the Stardock forums.
I wish this poll wasn't done over the holidays as I would have liked to have voted. Maybe I could have boosted up Balder's Gate and gotten Deus Ex on the list (Balder's would have been #1, Deus Ex probably in the top 3).
