Another Desktopx 4 beta has been released. The standard and the professional version have both gotten the same updates This build focuses the feedback that has been recieved after the initial release last week.Post anything that looks odd. Make sure to give us system information like your OS (including 32 or 64 bit), and if it's hard to explain (or even if it isn't) a screenshot.
I know this will sound stupid, but Toggle Object Palette has never worked for me, so , what the hell is the object palette? Is it the import object dialog?
I realize that I should know this by now...lol.
It's that widget thingy with all the DesktopX commands...the DesktopX Helper.
A total failure
yes updated to 4 but cant run it error as below
Is this a beta test or an alpha because it seems to me that quite a bit of this would have been evident upon inital testing prior to beta release..
Hm, ObjectLister is without any function for me... I have tried to fire up this old skinnable objects of mine and it all hangs with the weather script, which is totally acceptable as that one has changed but I have NO chance to stop any scripts via the object lister as that one is without any function apart from listing the objects...
On a positive note old widgets run right memory meter wise on Win 7 64bit.
Same here. Vista 32 bit home premium
Anybody tried clearing the cache's to shake the ODzip.dll error? I didn't think of that till now, I've already gone back to the prior version, not in the mood to start all over at the moment.
p.s. meh, nevermind. Had to go back and try it, got me nowhere. On the plus side the Impulse Restore Archive function is coming through like a champ.
JFI
If I go into program files and start from there by DesktopX Builder.exe can run it ok.
If click on DesktopX Helper. exe or DesktopX Welcome exe then get the ODZip.dll error.
If DL object from here and doubleclick it to load get the dll error but if save it then Import an object via builder works ok.
I just tried it with Windows 7 64 bit. It wouldn't run, saying that ODzip.dll was missing. I looked in Program files x86/Stardock/DesktopX and it IS there. Ditto for Program Filesx86/Common files/Stardock.Same here. Vista 32 bit home premiumsame here too
Is everyone having this problem using Standard or Pro?
I'm running Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit and the Standard version, I get the error but DesktopX 4 is running and seems to be okay.
Ooops, sorry.
Spoke too soon...
I would definitely hold off with this update until folks at SD can check out what the prob is.
Unfortunately, that won't be until Monday.
c242, is that Physical Memory?
Standard. I'll stick with 3.5 until they get this sorted out. I have no problem with waiting for repairs. What I have is working fine except for RAM on bar graph style meters and I need it to test for RND. I'm sure SD will straighten things out soon.(right now it's a real train wreck)
sViz : Yes.
I am having the same problem. I transferred plugins and widgets. Every time I sign in I get the ODzip.dll error message. Also when trying to use most old gadgets.
Are we to delete the DesktopX file in Stardock Program Files now?
@sViz, YES I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM.
Win 7 HP, x32, DesktopX Pro
Getting ODzip.dll error on XPHomeSP3, DTX Standard
I'll put this out in case it's helpful, sorry but it's gonna get wordy:
My DTX desktop is basic, mainly a bunch of launcher objects with timer scripts, there are not meters or clocks or such embedded in it. It loaded fine.
Got the error from a (my hacky little) widget I had loading at startup. Widget used plugins: digital clock using text states, analog clock version 2, date using text status, Graphical Performance Meters. Tried isolating any of the plugins by deleting and saving, didn't have any luck.
Imported the widget using DTX Builder mode. Ran fine. Saved it in its entirety as an object. Runs fine when launched as an object. Saved as a widget - get the same error.
I've copied all the plugin .dll's to C:\Docs&Settings\All Users\Application Data\Stardock\DesktopX\SDPlugins which is where it's pulling them from now as far as I can tell.
There it is for what it's worth.
Just adding my quick 2c that I also get that dll error. Also FWIW, I keep going back and forth with Right Click not installed correctly and to run update. It's in a loop on this. I run the update, seems all is well, then at some later point in time, Right Click doesn't work and verifying install has me run the update again. Using Ultimate 7 64 bit here.
Update, I ran system restore to yesterday when I was NOT having this ODzip.dll error. DX4 now works with no errors. Very strange. But, I still get that Right Click not installed correctly error after running the verification. I then install the updates and all is well till a reboot for example. I then go thru the same scenarion of installing the update and it works. I have this happen also with WB7. Same scenariothat it's not installed correctly and prompts to run updates. Only difference is then you have to reboot after the updates run. Which then runs me back into the right click scernario of not correctly installed.
Grrrr
Win7 Ultimate X64
Oh, no wonder it has never worked, I usually delete that...lol!
I have Windows & Home Premium and Vista Home Premium and I no longer have the DLL problem on either rig.
