Another Desktopx 4 beta has been released. The standard and the professional version have both gotten the same updates This build focuses the feedback that has been recieved after the initial release last week.Post anything that looks odd. Make sure to give us system information like your OS (including 32 or 64 bit), and if it's hard to explain (or even if it isn't) a screenshot.
Has anyone from SD mentioned anything about DesktopX lately?
I just got myself a notebook with touch screen - starting to get some ideas for a touch interface built in DX, but it'd be nice to use a DX4 version instead of the old DX3 - especially since it runs Win7.
DX4 isn't yet ready for use. I can't get half of it to work properly on Win 7 64 bit.
what would be cool is multitouch input support.
some really neat apps could be made.
DX 3.5 runs wonderfully on 7. Multitouch input support is highly unlikely, we can't even get accurate system stats, like Quad core cpu meters, etc.
With or without UAC?
Without Useless Annoying Crap (UAC) of course. IMO, any self respecting power user, or even intermediate user, should turn UAC off just to run Windows.
UAC is useless, IMO.
I have UAC off on my main system. As I keep doing stuff that makes it pop up.
But on my laptop that I just bought I kept it on. I don't do that much to it that triggers the UAC.
Then there's the issue of compiling DX gadgets - I'd expect that gadgets compiled with DX3.5 will have problems with UAC? That'd be a problem when sharing them to other users.
DX4 seemed to not have issues with UAC though.
DX4 won't hardly run on my system. With or without UAC. DX4 has been stripped of it's plugins, but I guess the DX3.5 plugins would work. I got errors and stuff with DX4, so I reverted.
Dunno if this thread is still monitored, but another problem is the built-in repositioning mechanisms (Dock to nearest vertical border, etc) aren't working on 3.91[b].048
