Commenting is enabled to allow people to complain about the balancing since you can blame me for it. I read through the comments and various threads and compiled a list of requested changes along with my own experiences from playing. So you can see a lot of things have been made less expensive. The new favor items are largely just “upgrades” (requiring a lot more favor points) to the existing ones. I tried to request items that could be realistically added. So in other words, don’t flame GPG. Flame Brad (me).
The modding is going to become a big deal I believe as I am hoping we will be able to have our own mods that players will be able to distribute here on the game site or that we’ll eventually bundle with the game if they’re popular enough.
it's not a matter of going out of the window. but it is still going in the totally wrong direction. and what i find so annoying is the fact that one that truly had read the forums would have known that. obviously SD/GPG did NOT! doing totally stupid things again. this sucks.
edit:... yeah you believe.. since i am here (demigod) i have nothing seen that jsutifies such believing.
Wrong direction? Probably.
Game breaking? No.
Of course I would prefer more varied items, but I can deal with these. Its fine.
Cant see all of page 5
I'm not sure the health per second matters so much, but I will give you the 200 more health can be the different between getting away and dieing.
3 hp/sec is nothing! even 5 hp/sec doesnt save you from any trip to the crystal.
Ya this makes all ooze beasts that much more OP. And then when they get a early monk from a teammate. This is just an aweful idea to give this to assassins and I didn't even mention rook
It does throw balance out of the window as HP stack becomes more viable (more of the same) while also marginalizing the benefits of non HP stacking builds more. It doesn't mean that you can't run a different strategy, but if you had to work harder before, you have to work much harder now.
It's about thresholds. Take a hybrid Blade of the Serpent UB build right now. It's very, very fragile early game, but you can get away with hit because spit does enough damage to drive away most players. Even up until level 5-8 a spit UB is still quite fragile, but the damage continues to scale up and balances it out.
The thing is the BotS literally gives you effectively infinite mana, and its STILL a risky item to pick against a pure HP stacking player. An effective buff to BotF (which let's be honest, that's all this really is in the end) simply makes BotS that much harder to use. Its relative strength declines.
The same idea applies to the other unique items as well, and don't forget, as the other people here have mentioned already, that priests and monk idols heal a % of total health and virtually every mid to late game fight involves sigils. Not only that, but unless they fixed it, priests/clerics/high priests/bishops all share different cooldowns, and good players will pick different idols to capitalize on that.
Let's take a fairly common scenario:
Sedna, Oak, and UB vs. whatever.
Sedna buys high priests, Oak buys Bishops, and priests have hit the field. UB has chosen spirit of the fallen and uses a sigil.
Spirt of the Fallen is, at that point, giving him 1500 HP. UB takes an opening volley from 1-2 DGs is then healed for 15% by priests, 19% by high priests, and 22% by bishops, for a total of 56%. That means Spirit of the Fallen, in the first few seconds of the fight, has already given UB 2340 health. In 10 more seconds she'll get 840 more from it when the second wave of heals hits her.
That's not a perfectly laid out scenario by any means, the damage and heals are likely to be staggered some, but my point here is that the way % heals and % health modification from sigils work puts a player who chooses something other than a max HP item at a disadvantage already. Their favor item must enable them overcome that disadvantage if it's to be worthwhile, when it comes down to it, and once these items hit the field that just won't happen the vast majority of the time.
I knew that you guys would lock my post.
Are the Invalid error and the endless conn screen fixed or not?
FAVOR ITEMS SHOULD BE UNIQUE IN THAT THEY SHOULD ADD SOMETHING TO THE GAME THAT YOU CAN'T ALREADY BUY IN A SHOP. WHY THE FUCK DO I NEED AN HP FAVOR WHEN THERE ARE HP ITEMS, OR A MANA HELM FAVOR WHEN I HAVE MANA HELMS IN THE FUCKING SHOP. THIS IS SOOOOOOOO STUPID.
*takes a breath*
Sigil should be a favor... end of story. If you can have a favor item that gives you unlimited tp's with 45 second cooldowns, you should have a favor that gives you sigil's with a cooldown..... AND THEN REMOVE THE SIGIL FROM THE FUCKING SHOP.
Cloak of night, staff of renewal are interesting to me in that they offer something that YOU CANNOT BUY IN THE SHOP --- For cheap. That makes them unique. You can buy a warpstone, at the expense of.... you guessed it, some hp items. But warpstones aren't viable, whereas cloak of night is perfect.
I..... I..... I....... *anuerism*
Any update on patch for today being at work and no info is killing me
@playgroundlegen:
although i very like your idea with sigils you are wrong on the cloak and staff of renewal, as you can buy both effects in the shop. warpstone and at least stormbringer (but i think there was a much cheaper item reducing your cd).
I was about to change that but I ran out to the store to grab a drink lol, good eye, I'm redoing the post now.
Frogboy did... this your unique sense of humor again, Poly?

Balance and bug fixes for the modding SDK pacov?
Does the SDK stack hp and abuse sigils? Or if you mod the game, and the game doesn't like the decision you made, it will unplug, then reconnect your ethernet cable causing an invalid mod state?
/lame joke
At this point I doubt anyone is going to go and remove the new favor items. Speculate all you want, but the playtesters have tried them and we haven't.
I think at this point the best we can do is wait for the update, then come back with more concrete examples and reasons for what we might request.
The updates look fun. Color me excited!
i just lay all my hopes into modding because if theres something that isnt game breaking but what needs to be fixed i dont think that there will be another update for the next few month which addresses these things. i dont hate sd for that because they care about the game but its a fact that the release cycles are long.
btw. what does atari do about all that stuff? i mean they are the publisher for the rest of the world, they should put some money into fixes as well. i would like to know what their role is in all of this. if all of the ressources come from sd i would have serious thoughts about buying another game that atari published.
Gah, these new favor items just made swift anklet and blood of the fallen completely useless for a big chunk of the community, just more useless favor items...
I am looking forward to this new update though, BRING IT ON!
DaBRUM
kwilastest_02
Umm Testing I hope it is going well
Nice catch
You know this is more of a team game I think more favor items should be aura's or help the team. ex. magical coin pouch could be 10% cost reduction for team. We have some like blood soaked wand and wings of seraphim. Maybe we need more team favor.
same here
About the update, pls pls remove new favor items, as it's been already said they're balance-game breaking. There just won't be any viable alternative to them, expect to see lotsa unkillable SotF ooze Undead Beasts and Sednas.
Sigh, HP stacking taken to the next level...
