This actually looks pretty awesome. You know all those people who keep saying "Make a Fantasy Total War"!!! Well....someone's doing it and it'll be out soon. Check out this Video. If this is done as cool as it looks we may have a winner for real time fantasy battles. Of course Elemental is still going to be a better game, but the battle engine here looks pretty sweet.
Yeah it looks good indeed. You can find the dev journals on youtube btw.
Doesnt seem to be on the coming soon list of either Impulse, Gamersgate or Gamesplanet
I found that it is on Steam. No buy for me then
There are other ways aside from Digital Download to get games you know. Some of us "old timers" even go to these things called Stores where we put down *gasp* physical money for a pre=order of a game we wanted. We also used to walk 20 Miles Uphill BOTH WAYS in the blinding snow to get there.
lol j/k
Don't like Steam?
I live in Norway and the shops will mostly have 100 copies of Wow and 3 other games on the shelves. Not expecting this game here anytime soon.
Not a big fan of steam. If I buy a boxed version of Empire Total War (its actually in the shop), then I still need a steam account before playing the game. Go figure. My firend had his Half Life experience ruined by forced install of a patch that broke his game. Bahh... I just dont wanna go there.
I see your point. I'm not a big fan of Steam either but I did have to use them exactly as you said, to activate my Empire:Total War Special Forces. It is handy for DLC though. It does have a option to turn off auto-updating games so what happened to your friend won't happen anymore. You just have to set it individually for each game.
Ya.. steam sucks.
It deserves to die a horrible death.
Impulse is 1000x better.
Having to connect to the internents to play non-internets games.... sucks.
Having to have a god dam back ground program while your trying to play your game sucks more.
Having constant advertising from the dam piece of...
I will never buy a game from steam, install steam on my computer, or buy a game from a store that requires steam.
dont see the prob with steam
im an avid fan of teamfortress 2 which requires steam and i never had a problem with it. actually defensegrid needs steam too. so i guess its like my hatred of Opel...theres no real rationale behind it.
ya... the problem is that those games NEED steam to play.
for games that are multiplayer and need a server to play on... like TF2 it kinda makes sence... but for games that are single player... like... empire:total war... its a complete WTF?? and its the only reason i have not brought that game.
That's not a big problem man: I love boxed games, but I live in Spain where prices for games s*ck and I just use this website for all my game buys:
http://www.gamespider.co.uk/
I don't mind games in english, the euro-pound exchange rates are great and some of those places (like play.com) have free shipping in Europe.
I have also used played.com and the scandinavian cdon.no, but none of them have this game as far as I can see. I am playing on a laptop (work machine) so I might not have the power needed. Will buy new desktop in the spring.
Well, the game has been bumped back to Nov 24th, but they do confirm support for Steam and other major DD outlets alongside plans for a physical product release in some months time. I just don't know that I'll have any money left for it, though if they'd announce what the price would be that would help in those hand wringing figurings.
For me it is a crapshoot as to which I'd get it from, I do quite like to get things from Impulse, but should it wind up a case where I already have a part of something from elsewhere I tend to try and maintain continuity.
I would highly reckon this being on Impulse though since Impulse already carries the early game the same outfit worked on Crusaders: Thy Kingdom come.
Are there any news on which other sites than Steam will have this? Other DD outlets is bordering on being sligthly diffuse
Have you thought about pre-ordering from the game's web site directly? I haven't looked into it yet but they might have a option like Elemental did to buy the digital download And have a boxed copy shipped to you.
You know, every time I watch the video for this game I think "man I wish Elemental's battles would be like this!!!" except with the Elemental Art Style of course.
I will wait for reviews from users and websites, and then deciede how much work I will put into getting the game. It does look promesing though!
Not possible on this one from the looks of it. I'd guess more details will emerge between now and the 24th---not like there's much longer in the grand scheme of things.
My biggest question is if the game is at all designed to be mod friendly, for if so, good lord will there be many things to come about if the game can find a good audience.
Today is release and I find this game only on steam, and no other DD outlets (a broken promise by the developer). This is a bad thing, and another game that will pass me by (the former one was Empire Total War).
Anyways, I am playing Kings Bounty Armoured Princess and LOVING it.
Downloading this as I type. I'll let you all know how it is after a night or two.
Looking forward to it
