Apparently since game companies know whats up in the industry way before the public knows what they're doing there is already a game jumping on the X-Com Clone band wagon. The game is called Star Sentinel Tactics. You can check it out on Gamespot Here.
I haven't found out much about it, but it looks a hell of a lot like a updated X-Com engine. It might be worth keeping an eye on.
Note: I actually just read the review and it's not much like X-Com. It's NOTHING but tactical battles. No research, no base building, just battles. Still might be fun, bit it's no X-Com.
