Early test of a map I'm developing. It's a 3v3 map set on a island at sunset. Current test are going... but as I can't add textured models into the game or shaders (And Demigod seems to call it's shaders in a particular way so the SDK might no even allow external shaders so no water effects ) I think I'll be waiting till the SDK to comes out. Surprisingly once you've got something to generate the LUA files generating the map isn't as bad as you'd think.
For those wondering Demigod doesn't really support multiple heights so in reality there is walkable area represented by flat sand and you stop walking at the edges. This diagram makes it a little easier to understand. The final map is to have the bridges be actually walkable.
Very impressive.
Looks awesome although I think it needs more light in there. I hope yoy could make it into the game.
I didnt realy understand, does demigod can play on multiple hights or it cant ?
keep up the good work!
Basically in the SCMAP files there is data for the height of the of location of the mouse pointer. This data is also used for the pathing of the human controlled demigod but not grunts (AI demigod don't use it that much ether.) But while the height data is used for the initial placement of the object, it is not used for pathing other then to say you can walk here but you can't walk here because there is to much of a height difference. If you make a slow slope you can see the mouse pointer moving up in 3d but your demigod stays on the same plane eventually disappearing under geometery.
To any extent picture 4 show what I used to generate the pathing data (Or what I will use if I ever finish the map) So although there are slopes and what not in the map, their really just invisible walls.
Hope that clear it up.
This is an awesome map. I think it need more towers and some flags, were you planning on adding these?
VERY NICE!
I wonder if it would allow for different weather settings maybe?
Could do with being brighter though if you want it to rival bloody cataract >>
Win. Now make clock tower kthxbai.
Wonder how it would look if you flattened out the land mass similar to the last picture so that walkable area was more clearly defined.
So no multiple hights, ok. just seem weird as sup com has it and its the sam engin.now that I look at it like that, I think you should make the lanes wider due to 2 things.
I hope you SDK will let you keep the colors and not have it like the red map you did before.
You should have rows of sandcastles to define the edges of the path ^^
Really nice job, mrappard. I especially like the beach/sunset theme. We definitely need more 3v3 maps.
WIN! Plain and simple!
I agree with the comment that it would look weird if demigods were moving in the air because the surface under them was too 3d. This map looks great and I love the theme, but perhaps consider keeping that flat surface in that you included in the last picture, and just using a tileset that you've edited to sandy colors to look like a sandstone paved beach theme etc...
I think the sand should be flattened down a bit -_________- Have the edges raised so that it is still sand but has obvious edges. That would be easier than my sandcastle idea and probably look better than having pavement on your beach island
Oh and you need some palm trees. Cause otherwise its just not right
Sorry just wanted to point out that because Chirmaya is a better modder then me I'm waiting for him to do the work on how to add new models and stuff into the game before I post the map. Having someone else do the work is much easier then waiting. Espically cause he know what's he's doing and doesn't spend 3 hours playing with Occulus in Single player.
any news on the map ? ... I'm itching for a new map
Cheers,
Than.
There are problem with the AI pathing and the fact that the lobby is blocked. The pathing is a complicated issues but may be solvable in the near future.
The lobby block is something we have a solution for but it causes error if the other person doesn't have the mod installed (I.E. games won't start if a person plays against a person that doesn't have the mod installed.) Still waiting on stardock for a proper SDK
It looks amazing!
It would be nice if someone from GPG or Stardock weighed in regarding ETA for the mapping capabilities. Although I am happy to see all of the new mods coming out, new maps are needed more than anything else.
I agree a few 3v3 4v4 maps would really bring life to an already amazing game (with too few maps).
