First, I’d like to apologize as we had promised that the betas would suck until Beta 3. Oh, they still suck. But because we need to get this feature in earlier than later, something fairly cool is getting in early. I will say that we will make an effort to avoid any cool features getting in early in the future.
So in today’s beta update, players can design their own units. But in Elemental, units are represented by cards from a UI point of view. To make this a useful feature and not just cosmetic, players can design their cards. The reason this is useful is because players can change the background and pose of the unit. As a result, we can shrink the cards down very small in the UI where we need and players will still know what they represent because they were the ones who designed them.

Oh man, I have to do my own background. Let me see... some n***a background with a dirty street. I would call such unit... a rapper .
If we only had such power with the models (ie. races)... ;(
will various factions have varios pigmentation? Or is it random? Or are all factions a multitude of various pigments?
Obviously it would only add aesthetics, but what if we don't want to fight only Medieval Europeans? what if we want Samurai? or Native-American war dogs, or ... the awesome Zulu warrior? do you see what I mean?
Also, among Europeans, will we have Blonds, Redheads, and Brunettes? Will we have freckles and non-freckles? Will we have certain tribes used to the cold that are so icy pale they are like a sheet of paper?
Will certain factions be more or less hairy than other factions? What about individual soldiers?
I ask this here due to it pertaining some-what to the Graphical Representation of InfoCards.
Maybe have a list of "Default Unit Models" to chose from when you make your Sovereign/Empire. Cover all the skin tone ranges in real life, White/Black/All the Tans, and then have a few fantasy color schemes thrown in for fun. Green Skin/Blue/ Red-ish/ etc etc. To make it easy on the Dev team they could use the same basic "human" model and just change the colorations.
If they don't do it it's still easy enough to mod. Once you find the skin and texture that goes with the model you'd just need the right program to open it and recolor with.
Yea, the same human model could be used in each case, just different skins or textures.
FFH has proven that one model can make many different units with changes in skin and texture
very cool indeed
