Out of all the time I have been playing the game I still don't understand why they call it SINS of a solar empire. Whats the sins, the game does not have much story to it, did humanity do something bad or something? I wish they would have a story mode in Sins 2!
I imagine its due to the Advent. Based on the opening movie the Advent were banished because of their sinful ways and then they came back with a vengeance.
Also, the TEC is now paying the price for their sin which was intolerance which led them to banish the Advent in the first place. The Vasari's sin is oppresion and slavery.
TEC is greedy and intolerant.
Advent are druggies and bent on revenge.
Vasari are oppressive slavers.
You pretty much summed it up!
i do think it funny that the TEC's sin is 'punishing' the Advent for their sin...
its like the Dark Ages church burned 'witches' for their sins, yet killing another living creature is a sin, so the church itself was sinning...
given... i dont think the Advent did anything wrong... the TEC were just so narrow-minded and chicken-shit that they saw something they didnt understand and did the typical human thing which was to flap at it until it went away...
Must be why I play TEC...
I'd be kinda intolerant of having neighbors that glow...
In addition to the TEC's sins, you could say that the Vasari commit the sin of wanting to enslave other populations and that the Advent commit the sin of wanting to force their religion on others.
I have wondered about the name and whether it was really a good choice of name for marketting purposes. Perhaps that is one reason why 99% of all Sins purchasers never contemplated coming online--it doesn't sound like the name of an online multiplayer game but more that of a single player space adventure. I think the name is catchy, but I do wonder whether or not it was the best for marketting purposes. On the otherhand, it is a unique name and I'm having a hard time thinking of something better.
*yes button*
What better sin then WAR...........mass murder and mercilious battles where the victor slaughters the losers.......and then takes their resources.......
"Why can't we just all get along?"
"Just give us all your land, property, gold, and women and everything will be OK."
wow that sounds familiar...........
"SHUT UP BLACKBEARCLOUD IM COUNTING Y' YOUR.............I MEAN MY GOLD"
I'll just take the women, I'm not greedy
Let's try not to think about what kinds of pleasures and favors the Vasari men would get from human women.
Physical labor. I doubt the Vasari would care about anything other than 'get back to work!'.
especially after they hear them nag............................. jp.
I wouldn't say the TEC is intolerant. From my understanding, they have a basic code of conduct that a people should follow in order to be eligible for membership in the Trade Order. I imagine it as "as long as don't do these (pick a number) of things we'll get along just fine and you're free to do as you wish". And I'm going to go out on a limb and say that some of these conditions just happened to be things that the Advent was fond of doing (like their whole creepy, psionic borg-mind).
EDIT: grammar
That may be the way for TEC to defeat the Vasari invasion. Now I can see some really lame sitcom about the concept...
Now showing; Ann and Yoblark.
*Enter Yoblark*
Yoblark: Ann, I'm back! Have you done the dishes?
Ann: Where have you been? I've been slaving *Cue laughing* here for hours, and I bet you've spent the day loafing with the boys! This is always what happens, Yoblark! What ever happened with spending a day together at the park?
Yoblark: Arrgh! Back to work!
I have to agree Animus, While the TEC were intolerant to the Advent, they are pretty accepting of individual worlds cultures and practices. To me its like having a friend that doesnt share the same morals as you do, while you may tolerate some of this friends antics the fact that they just dont seem to hold the same ideas of integrity, respect, and maturity it gets to a point where you have to say this isnt going to work out. To me the TEC were just making sure they werent associating with something they felt wasnt appropriate. Would you let a known thief live with you? How about a Murderer? While thats not the same as what the Advent were practicing. They were doing something the TEC felt defied their beliefs.
That makes a lot of sense, but if tolerance isn't the TEC's sin, then what is? In the original trailer, the narrator said that "I fear that the sins of our past will condemn us to extinction." In the intro, the narrator's voice is full of hatred when he speaks of the Advent. So maybe intolerance isn't the TEC's sin, but instead hatred is. The two are quite similiar though.
the fact that instead of moving on they decided they were going to kick the Advent off the planet and take it for their own? so theft?
I never thought of it that way, but sounds right to me.
Obviously, you don't share my X-rated imagination.
That's so terrible not to have that kind of imagination?
