Out of all the time I have been playing the game I still don't understand why they call it SINS of a solar empire. Whats the sins, the game does not have much story to it, did humanity do something bad or something? I wish they would have a story mode in Sins 2!
yes, it is...
I don't see that.
Besides, in terms of alien-human sexual relations in Star Trek, all of the aliens with which that occurs are basically human. The vasari are not, though they are partially humanoid but not completely so like a Klingon, Vulcan, Orion slave girl, Romulan, or even Reman. The vasari are more bird like with legs and feet, Drac like with their occipital lobe, and their faces are near completely alien. Who knows if they are even carbon based let alone have similar DNA to humans (within hypothetic universe).
The Vasari still have 2 arms and 2 legs and a head where heads normally go; they're still rather anthropomorphic (human-like).
Practically all land dwelling creatures have such homologies. Other than primates, there's also bears in terms of having hands. Theropods had hands as well, and the Hadrosaurs also.
you're talking about the science, i was talking about being sheltered and unimaginative
What I got from the intro was that the Advent embraced AI in a society in which they were forbidden (this may be because I'm projecting, with my need for the Advent to be The Culture), and so were proscribed. So, religious intolerance on the part of [pre]TEC, Advent come back for revenge, and Vasari are our evil alien oppressors. I mean, I for one welcome the return of our alien overlords...
But you don't really need to read into it for religious or political sins - the whole game is a war which is horrific. You lay waste to entire planets, kill billions of people - I mean, yeah, lots and lots of military ships/personel are killed, but Sins treats civilians on a level of apathy close to Defcon; not as score but as hit points. You sin every time you play.
i wouldnt say that... the war was a result of previously committed Sins... TEC kicking the Advent out and whatnot, Advent performing taboo research, Vasari enslaving etc other races, and experimenting with technology too advanced for them/too powerful to control... and also... i wouldnt call the TEC's participation in the war as a Sin, they are protecting themselves desperately from 2 highly advanced, hostile races... unfortunately people need to die... as for the bombing of planets... that doesnt make sense and has been brought up in other posts, why are nukes etc needed when precision strike hits would suffice... i dont consider the nuking of planets applicable in this situation as it doesnt fit... well, reality really, and is just a game mechanic that is easy to understand on a purely superficial level.
also... im pretty sure the writers of the bible didnt have little numbers representing humans in mind when they wrote 'thou shalt not kill'...
people need to get over sensitivities and ultimate truths... there are no such things and when you apply the wrong rules to the wrong situations, you end up stagnating or going backwards as a society... anyway, end of the rant now... =P
In the DS9 episode Sacrifice Of Angels, the discussion of orbital bombardment versus occupation was discussed by Gul Dukat and Weyoun when it comes to endgame strategies of conquest.
because they flipped a coin, heads for Sins of a Solar Empire, tails for OMFGILLUMFTW!
be thankful it was heads. lol
Well, and I know your joking, if it had been named OMFGILLUMFTW!, the game would certainly get a lot more attention. That is, if it were on store shelves. People would be like, "hey? what the heck?" buy it and find it's cool. However for online marketing, such a title would be easily confused with spam.
to be honest id rather kill everyone on the opposing side rather then let them get upset i destroyed their statues honoring the Gods IronClad and Stardock.
My take on this is that the TEC discovered that the Advent were using halucinogenic drugs to enhance their extrasensory abilities and that they also engaged in taboo sexual practices.
Lol reading thru the 2 pages that people wrote here, not once the OP put a reply on here
Im with dirty sanchez here, but i think they were having sex with robots.
I don't think the TEC has any sin. According the Lore page, they discovered the Advent practicing ancient taboos. The kind of taboos for which a person could be killed. The planet was already going to become part of Trader space, so the closest thing to a sin is that the Traders jumped the gun by enforcing their laws before the world was added to their territory.
Wow, you almost had two years on this page before the necro.
