I would give you karma but to do so I feel I would have to add to this discussion about religion, which would inevitably lead to my being banned from these forums as my views would royally piss you all off even AFTER I cencor myself, which I would not.
-Twilight Storm | I cencored myself...now where's my cookie...
I would give you karma, but if you joined the discussion about religion, it would piss of nobody, but stating your beliefs about your supposed religion that contains magic, elves, wizards and hidden powers of the mind, will probably just result in a Magic debate #2, which would then result in Flame War #.....uhm ....5 or 6? I lost count, lol
"My Pokemans. Let me show you them"
I would give you karma, but I wasn't even including my own religion in my prediction.
And how do you know about the elves?
-Twilight Storm | I See you...you should be ashamed
I would give you karma, but if the female elves are hot...can I join your religion???
I would give you karma, but I want hawt female elves with big boobs!
Oh, and they must all be really thin, 20 years old, and really....naughty!
ROFL
I iz psychic I readz your mind
I would give you karma, but thats not true.
Pentecostals, Seventh Day Adventists and basically all Protestant churches do not believe themselves to be catholics, but are all christians.
I didnt say they weren't read my post
I would give you karma, but actually it is true...even Protestants believe in some form of the the Four Marks (one of which is being catholic, or of the universal church) though they may go by other names...in particular, the Nicene Creed (which is repeated by Protestant congregations) even affirms one to be part of the "one holy catholic" church...
I would give you karma, but I know very little about Protestants.
Oh ok, I guess I was kinda confused there, he he
I would give you karma, but allow me to tell you from my own personal experience
Some protestant churches are like that, but I know for sure that Seventh Day Adventists and Pentecostals do not.
To these two in particular things like the creed are seen as vain repitition. Pentecostals due a believe that the church exists as a whole, but as christians not as catholics. A pentecostal does not care what denomination of christianity you are from as long as you acknowledge Christ. However Seventh Day Adventists believe their denomination is the only church that is still following God's word and the others are wrong.
Female elves=NOT COOL.
Because they'll always have that "everything you can do I can do better" mentality because 99% of elves are Mary Sues who (more or less) hate human people and think that they (the elves) are the epitome of perfection.
This is why humans are epic win. Because while most humans think they are the epitome of perfection, they don't automatically think "everything you can do I can do better". And most humans don't hate humans.
I would give you karma, but if you put a female elf, of 17-18 years old, who is 'really thin' and has a large bust, then I will simply kill IT with fire.
Elves aren't people. They are simply things to be purged so that humanity may rule supreme over the Earth and the Universe.
Besides, there are human babes who are more than sufficient for my tastes. *spies on Victoria Justice walking down the street* (no, Victoria Justice doesn't walk down my street :,( I wish she did though)
Except it's really not. Most Protestant churches don't do that; no church I have ever even seen has EVER repeated the Nicene Creed, and I've never heard of anything close to the Four Marks.
No, no, no
Elves are like human supermodels, with the only difference being that they arent really humans.
So I dont any reason as to why you'd purge them, when you could.....care for them!
I would give you karma, but you gotta be smarter about this, mate
I would give you karma, but what a religion is founded on and what it's modern day members practice are two entirely different things...Protestant's don't call them the Four Marks because by doing so, they would be openly deferring to the Roman Catholic Church...what they're called (or if all four are even identified separately) is up to each church...
The word catholic (note it is not capitalized) is by definition to belong to the UNIVERSAL church of Christ...how a church defines church and universal as well as who else is part of their club is their own business...
Hardly anyone ever uses the word "catholic" unless they are referring to the Roman Catholic Church...nevertheless, all church's of Christianity either A) assume they are a select group of acceptable churches (possibly only themselves) or B ) believe all "Christians" are Christians and all part of the same universal church...
You can argue semantics on how to define "church" and "congregation" and "Christian" but ultimately most of your Christian churches believe themselves to be the right church...whether they like to use the word catholic or not, repeat the Nicene Creed or not, etc. is really irrelevant...ultimately, every church claims to be in line with the original universal church of the apostles...
If a particular "church" has no prejudice or issues with any other Christian churches, then they are still part of the universal church, hence they are by definition catholic...the only difference is, they extend that "privilege" to others...
The meaning of catholic has been cannibalized by connotation just like the word liberal...the original definition still has it's use today but obviously most people never use the word in that manner...
The only way you could be remotely Christian but not catholic is if you claimed to believe in Christ as the son of God, but believed that the Apostles were all wrong...and since most of our knowledge of Christ is from the Apostles, you either are like L. Ron Hubbard founding a new religion or you have some divine inspiration the rest of humanity does not...if you find a church that believes Christ to be the son of God but claims the apostles got it all entirely wrong, then you can safely say they are not catholic...the only church I know of that comes even close to going against the apostles is the Mormons, and that is only because John Smith provided additional revelations that would supersede anything from the Apostles...
The point here wasn't to start a linguistic argument but to show the irony of Christian sect conflicts where each sect declares itself the one and only "correct" church...by technicality, all churches are catholic which just makes all of them seem like hypocritical bigots...
I would give you Karna, but I can't spell it.
I would give you karma, but you can spell it.
@Seleuceia: What you are saying (that all Christian churches are catholic by definition) is correct, only that it applies for all religions. Every religion on earth believe that they are correct, and that everyone else is wrong, or at least that they are somehow more in the right path than all other religions (that they are somehow better).
And that is why the religion institution is false, because it divides people into more groups than it is already divided. There is absolutely no reason as to why someone should follow only 1 path, 1 belief, 1 religion.
But this leads us to a completely different subject, so I am gonna leave it at that
I would give you karma, but for the most part Selu is right. The original founders of the first Protestant churches did infact see themselves as catholics.
However, as I said there are a few that are not and were never associated with cathlicism. Ie The Seventh Day Adventists for one, and the Jehova's Witnesses(who are not really christians imho)
You may not agree with religious institutions but their existence is proof of something. No matter what you believe you must admit that originally there were not so many, some were invented by people to meet a need they had, and this will continue forever. twilight is an example of this.
And I maintain you can't convince people to live in fellowship without uniting then under one religion. The best societies of History have been those that were united under a common belief. Egypt, Medieval England. And using Israel as an example. Israel thrived when all the people were united under one religion, when they started thinking that they could follow other paths, their society crumbled.
There are some Jehova's Witnesses in Greece, and I have friend who is one of them. He tells me that they believe they are the only ones who are correct, and everyone else is wrong, thus making them catholics by definition, but not by name.
He also tells me that they arent even allowed to marry women from any other religion, unless they decide to convert to their own.
I would give you karma, but the religious institutions are another way of dividing people, and that is why we can do much better without them, just like we can do better without every other institution in the world today.
Now, about these "societies" like you call them (I suppose you mean cultures, or nations), yes, it is true that religion does an excellent job at enslaving people.
"Make someone believe that what they do, they do it for a higher power, for the "greater good", and then you have the best slaves you could ever have."
So yeah, I suppose religion is another way of enslaving people. How many people do you think died from hunger and exhaustion building the pyramids? How many people do you think died fighting for "Jesus"? How many people do you think were executed for being considered "heretics"?
Dont give me that, "Religion is good for people". The religious institutions have done more wrong than most other institutions in this world
I would give you karma, but....
"Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man’s foes shall be they of his own household." ~Matthew 10:34-36
Here you have it...Jesus Christ, the man himself, saying that Christianity inherently divides people...now, the division he speaks of here is between Christians and non-Christians (not amongst Christians)...but still, Christianity at the very core of its teachings openly admits it will divide all people and WILL NOT UNITE humanity...
That doesn't speak for other religions, but since Christianity is a good third of the world, it certainly says a lot about religion....
Just because other religions dont openly admit that, doesnt mean that it is not true.
What you posted above (Matthew 10:34-36) applies for all religions on earth.
I would give you karma, but I was under the impression that you were gonna say I was talking bull about religion.
And btw, I have never read that, didnt know that they are so bold as to openly admit it.
My point exactly. As long as difference in beliefs exist there will be division.
I would give you karma, but
I would give you karma, but you didnt finish your sentence.
I will give you karma if you SUCK MY BALLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hahaha jk i dont have any
WTF..........?!?!?!
I would give you karma, but admitting to having no balls, means that A. You're saying you're a girl, or B. You're saying you're a eunuch or something.
But maybe you're just gay, and your comment was metaphorical.
I would give you karma...but did we seriously just go from talking about the catholic church to ball-less men?
I would give you karma, but yeah we did. Thats the beauty of the forums
