Hi, I just tried searching for:
STALKERS.T.A.L.K.E.R.
and neither of them found Stalker. I realize it's spelled strangely but can't you fix it so that games which are commony misspelled can be found by their alternate spelling(s)?
So then I just did the simple solution and searched through all first-person shooters...
...But it turns out that - new to me - Stalker isn't actually an FPS, as when I finally found it by searching for "chernobyl" I discovered it is apparently classified as an "action" game. As opposed to a game wherein nothing happens, I suppose.
I don't even know why my second attempt didn't work. Finally, searching for "chernobyl" found the game but if I'm looking for information on the Radeon 5870 I can look for:
"Radeon""5870""RV800""ATI""AMD""GPU"
etc... You should have a synonym system or a, "Did you mean...." system.
Also, will you be getting Clear Sky on Impulse anytime soon? I would prefer to buy a series of games all via the same distribution system, and Steam's got them both... Incidentially, searching for "STALKER" on Steam gives me:
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of ChernobylS.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear SkyS.T.A.L.K.E.R. TrailerS.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky Atmosphere TrailerS.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky Tech Demo (I think this must be v1.0 of the game - zing)S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky TrailerTHQ Collector PackQuake II Mission Pack: Ground ZeroTHQ Action Pack
That's how search results are done. I know I'm being harsh but I feel silly jumping through hoops to support a small company when it's made so difficult for me to do so. How many people just searched for "STALKER", didn't bother to try steps 2, 3, and 4, and just bought it off Steam instead? Impulse feels like Wal-Mart, you're not really 100% sure about how everything should be done, so you just throw everything you can out there, make it as cheap as possible, and hope people can navigate the labyrinth to find what they're looking for.
Yeah, the search utility kinda sucks. Typing in "Shadow" will bring up STALKER, but not "S.T.A.L.K.E.R". I had a hard time bring up search since they've changed Impulse. It'd be nice to have a more accessible and robust search engine, although for me the catalogue works just fine.
Why was this moved to PC gaming? It goes to show how much concern the Impulse staff have, when they read the first few words of the subject line and that was enough to convince them I was asking for game support, not Impulse software support.
