So, now that the first episode has aired, what do you think?
Other than the style (too BSG/Defying Gravity (camera shots and flashbacks) for my taste - it seems the norm these days though) I like it so far.
Good story line, good cast and characters, and a fresh new twist to the SG saga.
Although, why hasn't there been any mention of an actual FTL drive in the other series? If so many ships were sent out with these drives, it should have been noticed by either SG1 or SGA in their searches of the Ancients databases.
But overall, I am looking forward to (hopefully) several more new seasons of Stargate.
Your right I did leave out crapp I mean rap. Actully I lump it into hiphop
Then they should have a device or something story wise to explan this. Yes a Universal Translater of some sort would be good (could care less if they have to borrow this from Star Trek) Or maybe a galaxtic language that many plantets can speak (Ancient.)
the lack of a translator doesnt kill the shows plot line or actual enjoyment. but lack of scifi in a scifi show will.
Yup, thats the military for ya'...makin' decisions based soley on your reasoning which, since you are a soldier, is probably NOT empirical reasoning/scientific method and observation based, because you were stupid enough to join the military in the first place. Yeah, Gotta love it. Rush is the best part of the show for me... and over all I can tolerate the show, but life...*throws up*...if *gulp* "Life" episodes keep coming, I will not watch this garbage. I have hope for the show, hope that it will turn from it's foolish ways to deliver true scifi to the SG fans of old...but even the most deep rooted nostalgia and reverence for a franchise cannot ward off such mockery.
Yes, people are stupid because of being in the Military. Obviously you havent met enough real military personnel to make such a judgement. but you were stupid enough to buy into the old "only idiots join the military" idea.
Are you calling George Washington an idiot? He was in the Military.
You sir, are an idiot for believing here say, and not actually being intelligent enough to observe something yourself.
this may have been covered but the ftl drive is called ftl because the ship is moving ftl in real space not hyperspace. there is no name for it because that is what it is. they are using the normal engines on the ship to push it to ftl speed. the thing is we don't know how fast their really traveling. also the faster you go the slower time moves up until you hit ftl speeds. then not sure but maybe the clock goes back words. in other words they shouldn't be able to go home and visit friends and family because they would have died of old age well the crew had been on board ship for 1 day.
Tonight's episode was better. Somewhat predictable, but at least we're finally getting somewhere. Will be interesting to see how things play out from here, so long as they stop abusing the stones.
1 the colonial is now guilty of murder. at least until rush catches up.
2 rush will get the alien ship running and catch up.
Oh, we haven't seen the last of Rush. He's got a derelict ship and a working stargate; I'm sure he'll think of something. What would be really interesting is if he manages to encounter that ship's builders before Destiny does. He might tell the aliens all sorts of crazy things about the Destiny crew, like how they cruelly stranded him on a desert planet before running off with his ship. I wouldn't be surprised to see him show up with some new friends several weeks from now.
In the short term, I think Col. Young has just lost Eli's trust. Rush definitely needed dealing with, but his choice of methods could really hurt him in the future.
Wait, it's survivor in space now! They throw someone off the ship every week until there's only one left. There's hope for humanity yet, it can't last more than a few more months before they run out of main characters.
I wonder, what is the point of these new 'mid-season finales'. Are the producers/writers going to change the script based upon these types of forum reviews?
If so, things may get better.
If not, then we are in for much of the same tripe.
You gotta be fucking kidding me.
I've watched quite a few episodes so far (I live in the UK and haven't see the whole series yet), and I like it somewhat, BUT the problem I have with it is its too focused on personal relations and there is just too much contact interaction with the civilian people back on Earth for my liking. I tune into stargate for sci, adventure, and humour, not for drama.
syfy has been doing this for years. three months of shows then reruns, until they decide to do the next (season). however this is the first time that they have had the videos ready for sale at the sametime.
i don't think rush was so stupid as to not look for a backup copy. the colonial wasn't surprised that the gun was found in his room.
Colonel not Colonial..........wth is a Colonial anyway.
The Colonel never murdered anyone, he just stranded that prick. Which Rush had it coming. But if no one noticed, its not the end of Rush. Makes sense why they would find an abandoned spaceship. I wonder what that would insinuate.
Rush could always gate hop his way around and run the chance of running into the crew.
How can Rush gate hop if he doesn't know any gate addresses?
the gate won't connect unless there is a gate on the other end. in other words no whirlpool.
but the real question is who is going to be the lead scientist. the only one any of them respect is eli and he is either to young or too under educated for the others to want to follow.
Gotta find out what happened to the guy in the chair. Maybe I missed something, but we don't know if he died or what.
not yet. he may be of some help before he does.
Ever heard of trial and error? You dont need to know gate addresses to push seven or eight chevrons and get yourself an instant doorway to another world. Maybe you werent paying attention to SG1 and SG:A but plenty of everyday people travelled via stargate without have a true knowledge of the damn thing like SGC did.
Also, This is isnt the last of Rush, hes a main character and hell be back. Exactly why they found a spaceship in this episode so the writers can easily reintroduce him, or give the show alittle bit more drama when he comes back onboard and outs Colonel Young for leaving him there, not that Rush didnt deserve it. But its only going to create more issues between the characters. Also the guy left comatoise isnt a main character and isnt that big of a deal. But if you take a look at the website they may have an explaination there, This show has picked up this idea people are ok with plotholes in shows and the best way to address any questions is to make a 4 minute short that sums up the dilemma they left openended. Including huge issues like being stuck in a timeloop.
I give Rush two more episodes before he returns. I dont remember how many episodes this show is slotted for in the first season. But Im willing to bet hell show up either in a few episodes which would mark the middle of the season. Or hell end up showing up at the very end of the season signifying a cliff hanger.
Ypu guys are so silly. He is stranded on a planet WITH A SPACESHIP ON IT. I'm sure it was coincidental...
Oh dear, did Rush do something meglomaniacal and cowardly again? I can't watch........
His biggest problem might be finding food and water. That planet looked pretty barren.
He tried to frame Young for murder, that was actually suicide not to get him out the picture completely but long enough to get another crewmember to volunteer to sit into the Ancient Chair Young had forbidden. But with Rush out of the picture, and Young finally at his end of patience with others fucking him over has become a badguy of sorts himself, asking that Eli delete all Kino info off his computer and copy it to a stickdrive.
