The much anticipated Resident Evil 5 from Capcom has arrived and is available for purchase on Impulse.
The biohazard threat has not ended: Just when it seemed that the menace of Resident Evil had been destroyed, along comes a new terror to send shivers down player's spines. Chris Redfield, returning Resident Evil hero, has followed the path of the evil literally around the globe. After joining a new organization, Chris heads to Africa where the latest bioterrorism threat is literally transforming the people and animals of the city into mindless, maddened creatures. He is joined by a new partner, Sheva Alomar, who lends her strength, intelligence and sharp-shooting skills to the mission. In order to survive, Chris and Sheva must work together to take on the challenges of discovering the truth behind this evil plot. Utilizing a revolutionary new co-op mode of gameplay, players will be able to assume control of either Chris or Sheva and experience Resident Evil in new ways. In Resident Evil 5, Capcom will have players fearing the daylight as much as they have feared shadow in previous games.
Resident Evil 5 is available today for the Americas and Asia (excluding Japan and Korea). World-wide release (excluding Japan/Korea) will be on September 18th.

Woo, time to kill some zombies!
that's great to hear! i miss this game!
The series just got a refresh,With plenty of zombies to thresh. If you don't bring a friend,Then expect a bad end,Such as zombies consuming your flesh!
How is the PC version? I hear RE4 was quite crappy on PC, the game itself i apparently like since i have it for both PS2 and Gamecube
Well it's recommended you play with an Xbox 360 controller. I think that says enough
I see. At least Red Faction Guerilla is a quality port
RE5 is a great port. RE4 was a horrible port. RE5 is designed for a gamepad, and feels awkward with a mouse and keyboard. Do not confuse control mechanics with port quality!
I tried with a gamepad and it was hell, I can't aim properly with joysticks. With the mouse, it's fantastic, works so very well and I've improved my performance a LOT. The controls are fantastically done.
They're re-releasing it on the PS3 with new content to promote their motion controller, will any of that content become available on PC?
Also my brother bought RE5 on Steam and it was good. If you ever played RE4 on the Wii it's similar to that effect. The improving aiming is a massive improvement.
Good to hear they've improved since RE4, i should get this when i can afford it.
Capcom's PS2 era game ports were handled by Ubisoft, who did a piss poor job. Since DMC4, they're been going it themselves now and the PC ports end up being superior to the console versions. It's too bad they didn't handle it earlier, as I would have happily paid for enhanced ports of RE4 and DMC3; two of the best action games of that generation.
Co-op Mercenaries looks sweet, but I'm probably going to hold off for a sale as reviews don't have me convinced RE5 was a $50 game.
All Capcom ports are great (at least technically) on PC since they have started using MT Framework as engine (DMC4 was the first, many others are following).
That's absolutely not true. Game is far better played with mouse and keyboard and is honestly terrible with a gamepad.
By the way once again Impulse/Capcom came with their silly choice to charge for more moneys european customers, so sadly I had to buy it from english webstores.
When will you peple understand you are damaging digital delivery (aka "yourself") with these choices?
When will you people understand that it's not up to Stardock?
I don't think it's true. Stardock has his part of fault in this.
Anyway, I've blamed Capcom as much, so where's the problem?
The short answer is that the publishers decide the regional pricing. If we want the game on Impulse, we have to go with what they say.
Here are your options: We comply with the publishers, and get the game on Impulse as is (the current situation), or we don't, and we don't get the game on Impulse (in your case, no difference, as you're not buying it from us anyway).
Just to be sure this thread doesn't get hijacked, let's take this part of the discussion here:
https://forums.stardock.com/365506
and let these nice people get back to discussing zombie killing, shall we?
Just a heads up for people getting the game: Capcom apparently didn't test DX10 mode very well and it causes major problems for ATI card users (black cutscenes, poor performance in certain areas). Running it DX9 mode elimates these problems with no drop in quality. That's right, none; Capcom said themselves they used no DX10 enhanced features. It's there soley for those silly NVIDIA 3D glasses. So unless you're using said glasses, do NOT bother running it in DX10 mode. I can confirm the problems myself (thanks survey 2009 coupon), and have not had said problems since using DX9 mode.
Disappointing blunder by Capcom considering DMC4 and SF4 had zero problems.
