Some of you might know I have a bad back. No less than two prolapsed discs in the lower spine. Well next Thursday I'm going into hospital for an injection in my spine. Scans have shown the nerve which goes into my left leg is twice the size of the right...
I should only be in overnight, but I'll have about a week at home recovering.
My back isn't too good right now. After moving my old 21" CRT to make way for a new widescreen, I'm paying for it with extreme pain.
Right now I'm on a maximum dose of Dihydrocodeine and Diazepam, the combined effect of which I'm lead to believe is like taking heroin... Needless to say I have this odd feeling of invincibility
Fuzzy, all the best of luck for a great outcome and a swift recovery.
Woah dudes. Either this new monitor has a built in kaleidoscope or the meds are starting to work.
Far out...
It's a good job I'm not moderating walls, they'd all get rejected for being nasty fractals...
Hope everything goes well for you!
And, no, I will not wash your pots or anything else for that matter......
Sounds like your day is turning out pretty good.
I hope this does the job for a long time. And come back soon. Good thoughts
Lantec found the successor(s) to Burger King...Burger Queen! Some buns.
Giving a whole new meaning to "Fuzzy", wot?
Hope everything goes ok for you. And keep your hands off the nurses!
I'm going into a private hospital. The nurses there are too snooty to bother with the likes of me
Wishing you the best Fuzzy and hoping you get some enjoyment from the meds too!
( did you see that rooster over there... cock-a-doodle-doo....)
Best wishes!
Just do as your Doctor says, no more, no less. Wishing you all the best Fuzzy!!!
Hey Fuzzy take it easy & get well soon we all wish you the best!
toss in a martini and see what it does for ya...
hope the treatment gives you some relief til its healed a little ....you'll have to promise the boys at the pub a coupla pints for some help next time....
Hoping you're feeling a little better, Fuzzy ...get well soon.
Here's hoping it all goes well for you, Fuzzy. I know what you're going through because I have constant back and neck pain due to several of my vertebrae not having a disc at all. It's just bone on bone, and sometimes it can be so excruciating the pain can render me immobile until it subsides. Trouble is, I've been told surgery is not a viable option in my case, that it would greatly reduce my mobility (or worse) and would only be considered as an absolute last resort... and only then when I'm older.
They keep saying that I'm too young (at 56) to risk such invasive surgery, so I have no choice but to put up with it. Worse still, they won't give me any decent pain medication: "We don't want you to become dependent on or addicted to strong pain relief drugs, so attend our pain management clinics and we will help you to manage it in other ways." Yeah, right! I attended a couple of times and felt far worse for my troubles... just getting there and home again was a major ordeal, so I stopped going.
Anyway, enough of my woes... get back on your feet soon, OK.
Tomorrow is the big day. I've had so many pain killers today I've gone numb. If this injection doesn't work I'm going to chuck myself out the window.
My lower back clunks when I walk! Guess there's no disc there to cushion the blow
Been there, done that - complete waste of time. I wish some of these people could experience the symptoms so they could realize just how insulting these places are.
Hope you get to feeling better Fuzzy.
Don't do it Fuzzy. I heard there're really tough air pollution laws in Britain. JK, mate. We need ya here!
Actually that's part of what I do, and if it's one thing I strive to leave people, it's their dignity. BTW, I have a herniated disk myself, and sciatica. Never took a pain killer. Indomethacin works for me like morphine...lucked out on that one.
Good luck tomorrow, Fuzzy. From the heart.
Just remember not to over do it. After my second shot, my back felt great. Problem was it felt so good that I was doing things I shouldn't and once it leaked out, the pain was worse than before. Then again, my disc is fractured so it was only a temporary fix at best.
Good luck and I hope it goes well for you.
Edit: I forgot to mention... those injections make you hungry...stay away from the chocolates.
Hope all goes well for you Fuzzy. You'll be in my prayers tonight. And while you're in there, see if they can do something with those ears.
It's a pity you can't email some of that... I'd like to feel some numb.
I said something similar to one of the useless doctors I was seeing: "If you don't give me something decent for the pain I'm going to throw myself out the window."
Hew came back with: "Be my guest... oh, and good luck with that... we're in the basement!"
And don't you get some rude comments with it! I had somebody say once: "You gotta have some pretty big 'marbles' down there.", all because I happened to be walking all stooped over and bandy legged.
Guess the clunk-clunk-chink-chink-clunk gave it away.
My point exactly... if only these idiots knew first-hand. To add insult to injury, my local hospital out-sourced its pain management clinic so it was out of my way and located in a regular house about an extra hour's trave each wayl... and I have to rely on public transport as I can no longer drive safely Worse still, the bus stopped well short of the mark and there was a 25 - 30 minute walk, mostly uphill to get there... and with back/neck/hip/knee problems, the downhill walk was no less painful to get home again.
None of that mattered to the treating doctor, though. He came up with: "If you're not willing to help yourself, then there's nothing more I can do for you."
Another idiot doctor suggested the pain was all in my head: "If you think pain-free, you will be." Yeah, right! Thinking my feet were smaller didn't make the shoes fit any better when the store didn't have any of the one I liked in my size... and thinking that I was Ron Jeremy didn't make my ED go away, either.
The next time someone suggests the pain is in your head, kick them in the nuts and tell them that pain is all in their head!
I could only kick 'em in the nuts if they kneeled down... can't lift my legs any higher than that these days.
There again, if they were to lay down... well.... yup... I could give 'em a pain in the head as well.
Be well, Fuzzy.
The best of luck to you Fuzzy. Same to all you other guys with bad backs; it sounds pretty hideous.
