Man...I can't believe people actually continue to think the president of this country runs anything. He's just a puppet for the real ones running this country and the rest of the world for that matter (Uh oh! Tinfoil hat moment! )...mainly the owner/operators of the private non-government entity known as the Federal Reserve. You know...the ones every PAYtriot bends over for every April like good little subservient's to pay towards the ever increasing and impossible to repay interest (which they do not owe) on the money (created out of thin air) borrowed at your expense (kind of like credit card theft)...and every generation to follow...that you will never benefit from for ever increasingly ridiculous out of control government spending.
There are worse things to be concerned about than healthcare. Besides...you really didn't think anything of any real worth would ever pass did you? They do this to everyone every election year (make lofty promises) and everyone always fall for it. It would be hilarious if it wasn't so sad.
I apologize for sticking that health care thing in, but it illustrates the nature of the Obama/Democrat administration. It isn't optional (the health plan). It's purpose is coercive; to change the workplace, the schools, and your personal life. If eating potato chips makes you fat, then you'll have to stop. Just imagine them coming into your residence, weighing the whole family, and telling you what you have to do in the name of health care.
It would be a mistake to not fight against the intrusion. The Cash For Clunkers invasion into computers is only one example (as far as I know, that agreement was removed a while ago because so many people complained, by the way); this health bit is just another example of their style. The White House also had a snitch program for people to report to them what they called "misinformation" about the health care plans. Some people ended up getting e-mails from Obama-supported organizations for no apparent reason. They have since cancelled that, as well.
The price of health insurance would drop if the government didn't make it illegal for companies to offer insurance across state lines.
Doc, do you really think it's wise to just sit back and let them do whatever they want? People who were opposed to George Bush didn't remain the least bit silent just because he won the election.

The REAL issue is that we are an employer based system. As long as that remains so, healthcare is an open checkbook. That is what happens to be true and what happens to be the core of the issue. Don't believe me. Look up what the latest Nobel Prize winner in Economics (Paul Krugman) has to say about it HERE, and HERE. No simple solution, but start at least to understand it ain't about Granny and the plug. That's the Insurance Co.'s and their paid politician stooges talking.

^ Absolutely the truth. The reason for all the Republican opposition as that 1) they want to "break" Obama and 2) they were all bought and paid for during the fabulous Bush administration.

I'm going to have to say that DrJBHL just might have more insight and a better feel for the Health Care issues/problems.
Sometimes when I look at issues like this I tend to wonder what the 'landscape' would look like if the money flow only had to go from the patient to the Doctor. Yes I do understand that the cost of major medical procedures makes necessary the need for Medical Insurance. But I still wonder.

Kona...if you are truly ill....walk into an emergency room and start the process thats already in place. Emergency rooms cannot turn you away...and after you go there enough times they will apply for medicare for you...then you will have it for 6 months and can at least go to a clinic.

I don't know if that makes us allies or enemies. I like free speech, but it's just a tool, not an action. I think banning guns or knives or karate or whatever is generally foolish and a hallmark of an oppressive society, but I would not espouse protecting murderers who abuse weapons. Similarly, I think free-speech advocates should not blindly defend scum like Beck who abuse free speech, spreading fear and lies for personal gain.
