This is the story of the last of the Babylon 5 mod-efforts. It's goal, to prevent another failure, by creating a place to solve our problems collaboratively. Its a port of call, home away from home, for modelers, texturers, programmers and sound engineers.

Release 0.54.1 Full Download for Rebellion 1.95+& Patch 0.54.2
NEW - Balvarin Carrier and Minor Factions fix!
Installation Guide:
Sometimes the in-game mod loader can be a bit funky so if you can't see the mods you've installed or something isn't working then enabling the mods via the 'EnabledMods.txt' file in your 'Mods-Rebellion v1.85' folder where you installed the mods to is the other alternative. It should look like this to work:
TXT2SinsArchiveVersion 194Version 0enabledModNameCount 2enabledModName "SotyrRemastered"enabledModName "SinsRemastered-v0.95b"

Wow the Centurion looks very awesome Do you have more of this?
Hey guys - I see there are quite a few Babylon 5 fans here.
Please forgive a little promo, but it's on behalf of Claudia Christian (Susan Ivanova on Babylon 5)
Claudia is holding her own convention in the United Kingdom on August 13 & 14, 2011. There will be loads of special guests and events just for the fans. The website is here: http://www.claudiaconuk.com/index.htm
If you or anyone you know is interested, please sign up!
If were living in GB and if there weren't so many lunatics on such events I'd probably attend
Yeah, I feel exactly the same, TobiWahn. My wife and I occasionally discuss the philosophical implications of things said by various characters in Babylon 5, but neither of us would be caught dead with a bone on our head or wearing a futuristic fright wig at one of those events. The downside of this, of course, is that we allow cool actresses like Claudia Christian to be surrounded by nutters.
Hehe, but she chose it that way. If the Minbari are right and the universe is splitting itself up to try to understand itself it might get a little trouble if it took a short look at those conventions - think of a universe trying to kill itself by a big crush out of poor desperation and an utter feel of guilt.
I know its not soo nice use music without copyrights, but i love music Ulphio Minucchi.
Centauri Centurion by Hawkwall
@HawkwallI hope you don't mind me duplicating the feathers for the underside as it was the only way to make the AO appear correct for the wings.
Of course, i don't mind!
They WERE actually duplicated at first, but i of course removed them to decrease the poly-count..
Polycount is no problem, 31xx triangles on the final mesh!
How do you like the final texture? Approve?
The model is well done based on the illustrations and miniatures I have seen referenced! Well done! The only thing that seems off to me is how the forward facing light effects reflect oddly off of the main center body of the vessel between the wings and forward command deck. I don't suppose there could be any other ways to light a few of the other features to help offset this issue? Not really sure how to help remedy that problem.
TobiWahn,
Has there been discussion of the planet types? My memory doesn't recall. Oh, and still need the list of Narn researchable ships.
Darvroth
Is it made the same way as the liati? I have to say, it does look.. Strange... But then again, the ship is very dark on almost every picture.. However its not something you have done, but its actually something i have NOT done. (And that is, add more details on the model.)
One thing about the model is the 'reflection' of the wing lights shine, thats on the hull..It is a little too shiny In my opinion.
If it could be reduced a bit, then it would be better.
I have to confess, i was never that happy with my texturing on the centurion,
but i really couldn't make many addtitional details on the model, if i were to keep the appearance of the miniature.
And the texturing only goes so far..
Overall, i think its good. But the shining effect on the hull should be reduced a little.. Maybe not completely but alot.
Also, the light on the top of the cockpit doesn't seem to shine.. Have i forgotten to add the light to the ambient map? Or am i just imagining things?
Too bad, this is the part I liked most because it has a resemblance to the lightning on the white star I think.
I will look into making it less shiny or eliminate it entirely.
This is because of the form of the ship, almost no side (light) facing elements which are the only parts directly illuminated by the star (since sins tends to be so 2D in positioning), the AO is nowhere near the level of the first version of the Liati, and was handtweaked afterwards.
Will look into this!
No don't eliminate it completely, but just tone it down a bit.
Agreed!!!! Do not eliminate it! It's just that the reflection is odd due to how the geometry comes together and that it is a very flat surface right in that region. I believe is the top lights that HawkWall mentioned were to be illuminated it would help the look of this model as well.
OK, I will do this in the next days (since my girlfriend needs my computer expertise today evening). I hope to get the effect "right" but it may take a few revisions.
Centurion with toned down Lights and restored headlight
Much better!!!
Wow!
Hey guys, I've been playing around with this as many of my models are overly dark. While I don't fully understand why some textures come across exceptionally dark while others do not I have some observations/theories and ways to make it show up better. I'm sure you are aware of the lighting, but the ship mesh highlight filter might be interesting...
My observation so far is texture colors that are grey tend to show up well regardless of lighting or shadows. Rich colors or darker colors tend to be very dark unless illuminated by a light source.
So how can you make that texture show the cool colors more consistently?
One way is to add extra lighting details to the model to simulate a light source illuminating that part of the ship which if fairly well known. Also team colors can help to some extent as you also need to add the team color to the light map (green channel) to have it display properly.
The other way is to use the minShadow/maxShadow settings in the entity file. These setting are used in conjunction with the "Ship Mesh Highlight Filter". Turning this filter on puts more light on the model allowing more of the texture color to show regardless of the lighting conditions. The pictures below show using the ship mesh highlight filter with a minShadow of .2 and maxShadow of .5.
My original textures overcompensated by adding to much lighting in the green data channel. I'm now modifying my textures to have lighting where I want it (i.e. team colors, windows, etc) and using the highlight filter to better show the colors as I prefer brighter models. Others who like space to be dark can leave the filter off as shown above.
Hi Guys. Just found this superb looking mod and re-installed Sins. I've got all versions installed and cant run 0.40 from any of the editions. My error is a common one, that I can't find an answer to.
When I go to mods from the main menu, I select the mod, which I extracted into the correct folder. When I press the apply button it crashes the game. (minidump). This hasnt got anything to do with the AI or Shadows solution, as I'm nowhere near that particular menu when it happens. I can sometimes hear the Babylon 5 music and voice selection on the menu screen, but thats it!
Please enlighten me, I'm keen to start killing some Centauri!!!!
I had completely forgotten about team colors!!!
That is by far one of the cooler things about Vanilla Sins is how each ship has certain aspects that reflect your team's color. We have taken into account team colors for our models correct? Please tell me I'm right?
0.40 is for Diplomacy 1.011. Diplomacy is currently at version 1.2. If you're using the latest version of Diplomacy, you won't be able to play this mod.
Thanks, but why cant I play it on Sins Original or Entrenchment? I've copied 0.41 to the folder and its still doing it on all 3 versions.
Diplomacy has features Entrenchment and Original do not. Its files are also coded differently, and Original Sins and Entrenchment cannot read those and will minidump when they try to.
