This is the story of the last of the Babylon 5 mod-efforts. It's goal, to prevent another failure, by creating a place to solve our problems collaboratively. Its a port of call, home away from home, for modelers, texturers, programmers and sound engineers.

Release 0.54.1 Full Download for Rebellion 1.95+& Patch 0.54.2
NEW - Balvarin Carrier and Minor Factions fix!
Installation Guide:
Sometimes the in-game mod loader can be a bit funky so if you can't see the mods you've installed or something isn't working then enabling the mods via the 'EnabledMods.txt' file in your 'Mods-Rebellion v1.85' folder where you installed the mods to is the other alternative. It should look like this to work:
TXT2SinsArchiveVersion 194Version 0enabledModNameCount 2enabledModName "SotyrRemastered"enabledModName "SinsRemastered-v0.95b"

No Pics, don't want to spoil it, but as of now the Specular, Reflective, Light, normal and cl text of the following parts is complete
Missile Tubes for firing forward/back
Missiles ports front for firing to the side
Hangar Door
Background plate texture (only cl and nm for now)
What do you want to work on next? (I sincerely hope you do want to work on something )
Need UV's and texture template for a model? Want to do some Ability icons? Change the main menu Icons and/or layout?
As for the origo platform, do you need help to get your svn access set up?
Timmaigh pm'd me yesterday and told me he has no time at the moment, but will continue to make models (Centauri for now) as soon as he got time again.
Haven't heard from Hawkwall for a while now (which is a shame, because his musical skill is more than excellent)
@ZvezdochetsStill alive?
PS.: If you want to make some forum entries on origo, you should take a look at the wiki syntak for formatting options
I'd like to work on the Warlock:) - (but will do a little work for Tesla and some for a character for DS first so will give you time to do a UV for the Warlock ... )
AND! please remember my first love is the B5 mod ... I'm here to the END!
Sure all the help you can:)
Yeah .. not use to that ... I like icons .. ... press the button type stuff ... will take me a bit of time to get use to ..
@ Koobalt - your EA Explorer was a wonderful model to tex. I hope you like the results plus Tobi's magic touches:) were to your liking ,,
I think that it will be no end for the B5 mod... same if we can finish all the races of the B5 universe for sins... soon of later, there will be a new game who is better that sins ( can be sins 2 ) and the work will continue...
I'm afraid so
Lets hope sins 2 (if thats ever on the table) has real reasons for us to make the jump (like a real scripting language for modding - more inline with what U3 has to offer, mesh animations, better integrated mod tools, a Tech tree editor, less hardcoded limits, no 2gb process limit, multithreading built into the engine, Diplomacy options like in Civ4, more 3d movement, firing arcs, and so forth...)
I still don't understand why the AI is not inherently multithreaded anyways. Thats the most logic optimisation for a start. I mean if the AI would use the same API's as the multiplayer syncing, every AI could have it's own thread.
Then multithread the particlesystem, thats "easy" too. The particles are not that dependent on each other (other than time synchronisation, collision detection and active emitter status, there isn't any interaction between most of them and / or the rest of the engine)
Viewpoint t
I know, multithreading is never easy, but there are thing that are easier to implement than others.
And please make the following buffs for sins1:
GetFirstTarget(type) - select a System with mouse, target is the first object of type (type) in that system, System only selectable if object of type (type) is there. Type could be modul, ship, planet / star
MoveToTarget() -> moves the objects with the buff applied to the target that was selected before, outside of the boundaries of the selected object.
heres hope that the devs will listen...
Devs are listening... almost each patch have new thing for the modders !!!
Problem is that they are a business... and a small one... i have a lot of hope for a sins 2 but i have not to much hope... Ironclad is a little team... they have made a good work with sins but a new engine will ask a lot of work... the big company can use years and years for create a game but little one need a fast return for allow devs to have some bread on the table...
By the way, actual sins can use a max of 8 core and a max of 12gb ram ( 1520 mb by core )... only problem is that you need the VMware ESX sphere for server ( hardware virtualisation who don't need a host OS ) at almost 4000$ and minimum a work station ( around 5000 euro if build yourself, around 15000$ if buy by Apple )... so, the sins code is not so bad after all !!!! But who will invest a lot of money for enjoy a simple game ?
SteinerX i really love your texture for Explorer.
I bought entrenchment and downloaded this. When I first saw the Omega in action I almost cried. I have waited my whole life to see an Earth Force ship in a game. One thing about the Omega, if nobody has noticed, if you look at it whilke facing the local star the rotating section seems to glow and the rest of the ship is unchanged.
One question/concern. Did you guys change the rate of income or anything? I've tried two games and I don't seem to have any credits and because of that I have a TINY fleet (even with the large fleet option selected). The AIs seem to have the same problem too.
Lastly. Is anyone currently working on the Hyperion? It's my second favorite ship of B5.
Did you upgrade the new colonise planet? Did you research the trade center and build them, and the last when you start the game there is options, did you select the speed of income (in the same place were you change the fleet size)
The model is already done, it's only awaits texturing job (for me is a one shot ship )
main reason is because the rotating part is made of particules... normally, sins engine was not made for having ship with moving part... long time ago, some guy that i have forget the name have found a genious workaround by using the particule system for make piece of the ship rotate... it is not perfect but it allow us to make ship with moving part like the numerous one in the B5 universe...
Good to hear!
You need to turn off the 1 "shiphighlight" effect in the menu screen ... then it's a lot better {only slightly seen)! - It's a problem with the particle effect:( - let me know if that works for you ... a further step is to turn off the 2 bloom BUT you lose a lot of the really nice lighting effects ... choice is yours try 1 and see.
I've been looking into the -da file for the rotation part and made some adjustments (still not finished) but may have made it alittle better in skybox environments (more or less) - however, we lose some of the skybox reflections ... and Tobi will need to have a look at the adjustments to see if he approves.
Yes things are more expensive and it takes time to build fleets (so focus on building up your economy)... and you have to be careful with what you've got - CAPwise ...
Yes ... Koobalt's done a fine model ... on my every growing list of ships to tex.
TheBigBangTheory - he did a great job working that one out! Wouldn't be quite the same without the rotation effects ... hopefully Sins 2 will solve this further ... plus all the other things ...
And Tobi has progressed this further ... The Explorer has a great rotation effect .... then we've got the Azimov ...
Don't know if Tobi will agree but maybe we can make some room in the credit of the B5 mod for TheBigBangTheory... in some way, we use his work for our rotations effect...
Don't worry, for the end of February, you will have 4, maybe 5 more model to texture... 3 EA transport, a minbari ship and maybe the first Vorlon ship ( modeling stage around 50% now )...
Anyway, don't try to work faster... i really like your quality work... until now, your texture work is the best one that i have ever see in sins...
I built up all my planets the same way I always do and all my pre-game settings were the same.
Thanks for the explanation.
The bug/problem doesn't really bothering me, so I don't need to change any settings.. it took me two games before I even noticed it. Just thought I would bring it to your attention.
Thanks. I didn't know if it was the mod or entrenchment. I never player vanilla entrenchment.
Beautiful.
wow the where ships looking very great...great job
Try turning off the "Shiphighlight" effects in the options menu when playing ... you'll notice a big difference ... I always do and the Omega looks great! I keep the bloom on for the very nice lighting effects Tobi's done to the models! You can always turn them back on if you prefer ... just a few clicks ...
I'm sure Tobi won't mind both have done great work for this effect (Tobi/TBBT)
Looking forward to seeing those models! and ... our first Vorlon ship!
I'm honoured by your praise ... especially from one of your high caliber ... I had great teachers/advisers - Tobiwahn/Fileosoft to advise and inspire me .... and quality models to work with ... and Tobi's magic lighting effects ... all in all a great team effort!
Thanks on behalf of the B5 team for your comments and interest:)
Well, sorry to be absent for the weekend, family business
Yes, the texture from SteinerX is wonderful to say the least. As for the mentioning of BigBangTheory, he is already mentioned as a teammember for his textureing work, but I could also add him to modeling (Or add a new section for Particle Effect. Lets do this next version, he really deserves the credit.
So I'll better get back to textureing the Apollo so to be finished this coming weekend. (hopefully)
hope everythings going o-k for you guys. keep up the good work
Still at it, thanks. Next release will surely come, just takes some time
@FileosoftHows the modelling going? Asimov, Tanker, Cargo, Sharlin,...(Not that I have spare time at the moment... Apollo textureing takes time, just general interest)When will you join us on origo?
For the Asimov, it is already done and posted last year ( https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/361694/page/35/#2493132 ) !!!!!! Model done with segmenting and UV at http://www.love-from-russia.be/Asimov.zip
For the Sharlin, segmenting done, UV at around 50%...
For the Tanker and Transport, model is done, remain segmenting/UV ... for the Cargo, around 50% of the modeling is done...
For the Vorlon ship, around 50% of the modeling is done...
About join on origo, will make it when i feel that i need it... really busy with the web admin work of the other forum... was planned to be a week away from modding due to my purchase of mass effect 2 and playing with it... have finish the game yesterday in around 35 hours... it have remember me why game like sins have high value in my heart will almost unlimited play possiblities... once i have finish the webadmin job, the work for the Halo mod and the work for the Empire mod, i will be able to invest myself fully in these mod... and give to you and SteinerX texturing work for the next few years
Anyway, if needed, i can drop all my other task and have a model ready to texture in the next 24 hours ( Vorlon non included ) if you ask it...
Just remember, i have a unfinished Thunderbolt too... do you need it ? Have no play sins in age, so i have never play the mod... so, i don't know if you have already these model in your mod...
Thanks alot! Don't hurry to get something finished as we still have a lot of work to do- Hope you enjoyed ME2 a little, though as I read that it is somewhat action oriented I lost my interest. On the other hand, I played risen and enjoyed it but have not found the time yet to finish the big boss... (for month now)
As for origo, better not join or it might happen that I assign ou some tasks
We have a Thunderbolt somewhere I believe, but I'm not certain. Haven't played sins for month now (except testing) so I understand how you feel.
Thanks for the support and hope you still enjoy modding.
Not really a lot of action... have use the half of the time for scan planet and send probe to resource !!! Before it was more fun with the mako...
About armor, gun, tec, etc... all is too much simple now... you buy or find something and you research it for all the party...
In the almost 50 hours, i have explore all the planets and find only a few side mission... story now is more a simple, too much simple...
Good side is that the girls are more easy now... was able to have 3 of them in the bed... and it is fun to see them fight each other... but not so funny when they become not more loyal...
now, i have lost my interest too... game like this are finish too much fast... and there is not a lot of DLC story now, more material oriented...
As for origo, better not join or it might happen that I assign ou some tasks When i join, you can assign what you will... i remaina freelancer with the right to accept or refuse a job... my freedom first...
Haven't played sins for month now (except testing) so I understand how you feel. Having work for several mod, if i need to play them, i will not have time to model... Sins is a good game but you really need a lot of time for play it...
That's right, sins takes a lot of time (to play and to mod)
As for ME2, as long as its oversimplification does not reach the level of DeusEx->DeusEx2 (dumbed down to suit the console child crowd) it might have given you at least a little fun.
And you always have the right to refuse a job (or assign yourself a job). Freedom always comes first!
Zvezdochets - haven 't heard from you for a long time ... how are you doing? Love the extra models you've done!
