Today Monday 17 th I will be going into Hospital to have my Hernia fixed, I am feeling nervious and I'm shaking in my boots . I may not get the chance to be on here for a few days I am told its only day surgery depends how things go while under.
I'm comin' late to this thread mrs.starkers. Sorry 'bout that. A friend some years past had undergone a dual hernia op (one on each side...this one never ever did simple...) and went through the same thing. It's a real pain and I know it's frustrating but...there's always a but in there somewhere...99.999999999% of the time everything works out just right. I got tons of faith in you mrs. starkers and I ain't the only one. There's a bazillion of us over to here rootin' for ya sooooooooooo......get all betterer and come back and keep mr. starkers from settin' off too many starkerbarks and hopin' the Feds don't come on down to get blowed away. Feel better love
btw...when you're all done........................ some this... some that annnnnnnd........

I havre been told by the doctor that I have an infection but just how bad it is he dont know till they get in and cut the stiches out, and then they will do cultrures and have a look to see if it has affected the mesh, All I know is that I am getting alot of smelly pus coming out it smells to me I had asked mark if he thought it smells but he aays he cant smell anything as his sence of smell is not the best. the incision is red and very sore. I will have to send u a pic so you could see for yourself. its not pretty
All the best Fuzzy, I am thinking of you
@ Uvah
Today in the post I recieved my letter when to go into Hospital to have this stitch and infection fixed up, I am just praying that the infection has not got to the mesh I go in on the 8th of October for the day and apparently they will be useing local anesthetic, and then home again , well thats the plan anyways.
Here's hoping for the best, Bonza girl!
Thanks Doc, awwww man I will be so glad when its all over I cant believe how crook it can make you feel.
I hope everything goes smooth.
Yeah...I surely do...thank G-d not first hand.
Hopin' for the best, Shaunna.
Thank you Doc and everyone for all the well wishes and support it truely means alot too me, funny thing is tho I go to another Hospital in Brisbane called the Marter to get some results from an EEG that I had done back in May to see if I have epilepsy which is weird cos my older Brother Colin has had epilepsy ever since I can remember, that appointment is on the 7th October and I go back to the Hospital that did my hernia at Ipswich on the 8th October . A question for you Doc, is it at all possible for someone my age to get this epilepsy? or is it just a one off thing? hmmmm strange
Epilepsy? There are several types and reasons for onset. You haven't revealed why the EEG was done (and I'm not asking you to do that in a public forum)...but seizures can start at any age, although the reason they are occuring varies by age group.
Hope that answers your question in general terms.
*egads...double postitis.
yeah I think so ty doc
pm me if you want more info, sweety.
Well its been about six weeks since having my opperation, and guess what? after 4 weeks of infection I still have it, thats right I still got this infection and the doctors here in Ipswich Brisbane are very happy not treating it, it was smelly before but the smell is worse now than then. about a week ago I was rushed by ambulance to the Ipswich Hospital after about 3+ hours the doctor told me I was not sick enough to be admitted and you guessed it I was not given any antibiotics either, and was sent me home at 2am. she made me feel like a hindrance and that I had no right being there, and in the mean time was going to see if the surgery could be brought forward well guess what it never happend, this little black duck has given up on the medical staff here in Brisbane if they dont want to help me why should I. I have had enough of them I have made complaints but all falls on deaf ears. I am sorry peeps I am not taking this out on anyone here just sick and tired of being treated like a 2nd class citazen with no rights. by the doctors at the Ipswich Hospital in Brisbane. even the complaints person cant be botherd ringing back when she says she will hmmp typical.
I go for my EEG results tomorrow, its to find out if I have Epilepsy, all being well I dont have it
My prayers are with you mrs. starkers. I hope everything turns out well.
BTW...maybe if you sued the s**t out of them they'd wake up.
Feel better...
Well, me Bonzette....as I've communicated, I think there's an alternate explaination.
Che sera, sera. No point worrying it... don't get your knickers in a twist.
As to the infection? Go over to the hospital and have a chat with the complaints person...in person.
And demand another Doctor...this situation is ridiculous. A competent surgeon should be able to distinguish between
a reaction to suturing material and an infection. Really!
well I am going to another Hospital tomorrow to get some results from the eeg, and while there I am going to the ER and hope that they will do something and thanks bonzza mate if this fails tomorrow I will be going back to the other hospital and seeing the complaints person in person as you suggested great minds think alike.... hey doc I had a dream about you the other night, I drempt that you came over and sorted these drs out , oh my hero to the rescue i shall tell you more later
I got my results back and they have told me that i have Tonic-clonic which is "A tonic-clonic seizure (sometimes called “grand mal” or a convulsion) is what most people think of when they think of a seizure or fit. In these events the person falls to the ground, loses awareness and becomes stiff and jerks all over. These seizures can last for a couple of minutes, after which the person may be confused and sleepy."
Wow! I missed seeing this thread while out at sea.
Sorry about your troubles, Shaunna. My thoughts are with you
Well, odd it should show up this late, but there are good treatments. Make sure they do a brain MRI.
Sorry this had to happen....a reason for this should be sought.
thats ok 2of3. thank you
The MRI showed nothing of real interest but thr Dr did say that I need to keep a close eye on it and have regular check ups and then will need to look into other options.
Don't know how to interpret that, sweety. Anti-Seizure medicines are usually very effective, and a patient with a seizure disorder should have a Neurologist in the picture somewhere....

BTW, you should at all costs avoid any contact with cabbage in any of it's forms as it is a well known provoking agent.
I admit ignorance when it comes to medical expertise. Not my thing. Fortunately there's a Doc in the house. I've never heard of a Tonic-chlonic. That would be resposible for the infection? At any rate...mrs. starkers...just so you know we're all keeping the candles burning past midnite. With Halloween fast approaching all the ghouls, goblins and other assorted denizens of peoples wacky imaginings out there doing their trick-or-treat thing should put their collective brains together and create a special treat just for you.
Here's my contribution. Notice there ain't no cabbage.
Pssst...don't tell mr. starkers...we need his starkerbarks for national security purposes.
Feel better mrs. starkers.
