So is it safe to say sins is le caput? I come here once in a while now and it seems like nothing is happening.
I hope IC has just given up on the Expansion and is putting resources into a sequel!
Systems instead of planets!!!
OH F#%* The Damn girl scouts found me here too!
@Deciever, i use destras all the time. They are cap killers, more expensive than illums, but i rarely lose a ship because of guardians, shield restore, animosity, suppression,...
It is getting annoying being almost required to play advent to win a game with advent players of any skill. I don't even bother with vasari anymore (subverter nerf)
It is a disease, but they havent been able to kill it yet. Maybe we need rebalance chemo instead...
Just once I'd like to hear an advent ship have a male voice that gets bitch slapped, and then is followed by "What were your orders?"
Let's hope some of the suggested balances go into the up and coming diplomacy. I really hope the devs do some "copy" & "paste" from the work of the balance mods.
"Our will be don--"
SLAP
"Why are you here? Go do the dishes"

Yes, that was posted already. I wonder if any info will be appearing on the official site after that? Or maybe they launch the beta right after presenting it at PAX. (ToJKa, still a hopeless optimist )
That's the plan for the Elemental beta, so I could see that happening. Turn PAX into a weekend of total epic awesomeness!!!
This thread is glorious.

Thanks you IC/SD for keeping your most devoted fanbase well informed.
You're f/-\|<in awesome.
oo, beta must be coming yay!
While we have been talking about balence for months they come up with a dipomat ship that any player will shoot down with out thinking. Tnx IC tnx
Don't shoot it down until we see it. I'm not so much paying attention to the add-ons.
Pay attention to the balance fixes. That''s the more important thing right now.
First quarter of 2010? I thought it was intended to be released this year? That however might explain why so litle is known of it as of now.
Indeed that is were diplomacy will sell for me. On the balance chnages the new addons PALE in comparision.
im sure that includes the beta period. the entrenchment beta was what? 4 or more months long? (i wasnt involved from the beginning though, so dont quote me). meaning that im sure alot more is known than they are revealing.
i hate to be a troll, but thats hardly the case...
I care only for the balance at this point. The game in UNPLAYBLE it it's current state online and gettign lots of epopel ona mod is impossible. So the balance chnages is the only thignt hat will sell of flunk this expansion for me. ood balance = sale, bad balance = flunk and flame war. And I ahve been preparing my flame post and I am not about to cut any corners. I just pray I don't have to use it but 1.03 was not encoraging AT ALL.
you might want to invest in a spell checker then.... =P
tee hee hee lame ...how bout fixing the phase stabilizers first,,,,,,,like get rid of the anti- matter recharge rate that still seems to be in there that prevents you from phase jumping for like 5 minutes, even thou you guys took out the graphic, you were to lazy to take out the code, get with the program or get another job. ( sheesh lousy arse lazy fat programmers)
Totally agree here.
Advent got tougher and Vasari got nerfed (as usual)
I think one of the main reasons sins seems dead is that it has such weak multiplayer support. Which is odd considering it is entirely built as a skirmish type game from the ground up. So that bit of info should shed some light on just how inadequate the current multiplayer system is.
There needs to be multiplayer coop scenario maps, better matchmaking, server side storage of saved multiplayer games, hot starts into already moving games, etc....
At least some sort of incentive to have people go online and play. Right now, internet multiplayer is super stagnant.
I'm under the impression that they have pretty much decided not to invest any further time or effort into online multiplayer since 99% of the people who bought the game have never come online. However, in a way it is a vicious circle. Online multiplayer also needs auto-download for custom maps and mods.
Why they won't consider taking custom maps and then releasing them as standard bonus packs that people can download, optionally, over Impulse I'll never know. If people are willing to do free work to improve and expand your game, then why not get people's permission and make bonus packs out of them? Ironclad, Stardock, if you guys are reading this, I volunteer all of my competition-grade maps at http://tinyurl.com/sins3 for use in a map bonus pack or another patch.
I bet their next game will have a far stronger multiplayer. That is if they do something sins related. They'll have more time and experience this time around and you'll see a more complete game (2 or 3 years from now of course).
It's possible that it might not have ANY multiplayer at all. The reasoning goes like this. Why spend 20% or whatever of the development costs for a feature that only 1% of all purchasers will ever try or use?
