So is it safe to say sins is le caput? I come here once in a while now and it seems like nothing is happening.
I hope IC has just given up on the Expansion and is putting resources into a sequel!
Systems instead of planets!!!
or they are working very hard at giving us a quality expansion and need more time to work on it
enjoy the game as it is I do
and there are plenty of mods for everyone
like this one

HAHAHAHAAHA.....shameless plug FTW!!!!
That mod does nothing for me. Flacid.
I want systems instead of planets!
Then I guess its dead to you. Just give it respect and bury it properly.
*dig dig dig dig*
Seriously, no previews or anything? Nothing to keep me enticed?
I really think they should scrap the 3rd expansion and just move into a sequel.
MO MONEY! LESS PROBLEMS!
How about fixing the games that are already on the Market so people will want to buy another expansion/sequel. If they released anything right now without patching the games already out, I wouldnt waste my money unless I knew it was balanced, which seems less and less likely to happen these days.
Tkins, you have a point. Posts by fans, mods by fans; no updates from Ironclad on what they are doing, if anything.
They're either preparing somehting big, or hoping we'll get the hint and go away. Until the first is confirmed, i'll assume the second, but won't go away
If no one is talking then its probably waiting on some kind of joint agreement between IC and SD.
Personally I'd love to know how the sales stats from Entrenchment compared to SoaSE when you factor in development time.
Sins ain't dead... yet.
The devs are doing very well to make it that way tho.
If you invite friends for a party, then hide in the kitchen and keep the door firmly shut for five hours without telling anyone wtf you're doing, your guests are gonna get pissed and go to McDonalds. It doesn't matter if you pop out with the best meal in the world, nobody's gonna be there to taste it.
IC&SD have been keeping us waiting at their party for the past 6 months. I'm already looking up my wallet for that McD discount card, you know.
Craig (or might have been Blair) said last week that they were working on a new preview, but it got delayed.
What IC product doesn't? Seriously. I only started following Sins after it came out and i bought it Retail, but since then, every single update, release, dev blog, expansion, teaser, anything and everything is delayed.
Its not that its delayed that pisses me off, its that they are keeping so goddamn quiet... honestly, no disrespect, but its a load of crap the way they are keeping quiet. Splurge a bit on some college english grad to come write some updates once a week or even once a fortnight for $20 an hour and KEEP THEIR GODDAMN COMMUNITY (and, lets face it) THE PEOPLE WHO PAY THEIR BILLS INTERESTED!!!!!
And now the downside of game development shows itself.
Maybe they are quiet because they don't have much to say other then they are working on it. That gets boring to hear after a while so we may just have to show a little patience.
You have to look at stardock as a whole if you want better insight into what projects are in the works.
Just a couple of recap of (somewhat) recent events.
Demigod was released early (VERY BAD for a new game) only to not have the online gamplay available. Stardock then had to do damage control in order to avoid losing a gaming comunity before it was even formed. It took weeks if not months to hammer out all the bugs involved with it.
Frogboy himself posted (in detail) the events and made an effort to explain what happened.
Several devs took some much needed vacations (Frogboy included).
Work on Elemental for a summer 2009 release.
Thats just 3 things I could rattle off the top of my head. There is much more of course but I havent been active in the forums as much as others.
If the devs say they are working on it then they are working on it.
As for previews, what are you expecting to see?
Thats a very good question for the devs, they don't want to put in crap you allready know about or a screenshot that can't do justice to thier work. they could give you a vid of gameplay, but if it is unfinished or unpolished it will only make them look like jackasses. They could also have had something in the works only to have it dropped for unbalancing issues or whatever reason and don't want it to show in previews only to not be there when the content is released.
Game devs can have hard and almost thankless jobs. And right now I bet they are feeling it.
AMENI'll add that when Entrnehcment came out and the game was at it's most balanced it had ever been I was preaching to poaple I know to come and buy this game. But since 1.02 came out I've stop tryign to get people to buy this game because it's just not that good of a game to buy anymore. I'm sure I am not the only one having this reaction this must put a dent in sales when word of mouth isn't flowing.
It's not Stardock who are actually working on Sins. It's ironclad.
Huh I see that now, thanks for pointing that out.
Well you can just sub Stardock for Ironclad and see what they are doing in relation to everyone else.
Its whoever holds the purse strings over a project is going to dictate what gets done and how quickly.
To make everyone happy, IC should update the SOASE homepage with a new visual. It should say ALLIANCES (my name for the 2nd expansion focusing on diplomacy). Even if we're not going to get right it away, it would still reignite interest, showing fans new and old that this game is still very much alive.
anything is better than nothing and nothing is what we get right now.Oh right, three weeks ago frog said that 'yes they are working on diplomacy (I bet u didn't know!) and we're gonna do something on the site'. Blair said he had some dev journal coming... it was a month ago?
I'm sorry, but saying "you're gonna get some info" is not really a sufficient substitute of information.I asked kindly for news just too many times.
What we know:
Stardock released Demigod full of bugs, then called the IC boys to help debug it. They delayed working on anything related to Sins to help out. They helped get Demigod up and running smoothly then turned their attention on Sins: Diplomacy... and we havent heard anything since, except for 2 months ago when they released 1.03 and 1.17, not much was said in the way of updates, just the change log, and Blair rebooting and upgrading ICO a few days earlier than the patch at the communities request (and a lot of JJ griping) to cut down on the disconnects. We still haven't heard anything recently. Nothing, and thats a lot of what has the community worried and a little panicky, that and the fact that the game is still a bit off and we're tired of it. Even a few sentences about why they havent released any information about anything would be better than just nothing.
Hehe...Diplomacy IS in the works, but for many reasons we cannot always release information early.
Thank you Craig.
Sadly it has to be such a cryptic message, but at least there's still some life there.
Yay, nice to know you guys didnt fall off a cliff and die suddenly.
well, we heard basically the same a month ago (actually a bit more), plus the hint of a dev blog or preview or whatever going up soon. yeah. right. we saw what came of that. yes, we get a lifesign, but it's really nothing more and for such a long period this rather sparse. I'll resevre further verdict until the plans are finally revealed, maybe then a reason for secrecy will be obvious. otherwise I will certainly feel free to criticse the information policy here. of course it's their business how they do things, but it doesn't mean I have to like it.
bottom line: that did not impress or satisfy me. yet.
