I've been playing on a 17" screen laptop for too long. I'm not going to go out and drop $2000 on a monster top end PC. I don't have that kind of money, and don't think I could ever bring myself to drop that kind of money on a computer.
I've been looking and it sounds like spending just 500$ could get me a better system than what I got on the laptop.
2 Ghz Dual Core Processor
2 Gb of RAM
256 MB VideoCard
64 bit Vista
I know it's not going to be hard to top that. I'm just looking for recommendations. Price Range 1000-1500 (I won't go over 1500).
So, advice?
The i7 overclocks like crazy though (see my previous post). You can easily boost its speed by 50% without problem.
Correct, and that is on AIR cooling, sometimes even the stock cooler can get it that high...
But since Amish does not want to assemble his new rig, who knows if he is willing to overclock it.
I wrote in my previous post about directron.com, where I custom-ordered my PC for the same price as newegg (assembly is $27). And overclocking was so easy. I simply used a guide, and I barely had to think to use it.
OCing is easy, but the OP may not be willing to do it. I'm sure almost everybody in the tech forums could tell him how to do it, but he hasn't given us much to go on so who knows.
Some mobos even have auto overclocking where you just tell it to and it sets the voltage and everything automatically
