Not that anyone cares, but just wanted to say I had a really good match today aginst a pre-made team... pacov , TrouserSnake69 , and KALELsmX. Although my team lost... Myself, Muder and Sarcen.
It was the first match I have played in a long time that I actually learned something. And it was very close. We played them yesterday and beat em but they beat us today they had some really good strats and thought i would share what I learned in the past two days playing them for the rest of you... Some of this stuff i already knew but some i picked up today.
-Flag Locks a Must (we all know this), then if you can force the other dg or more to chase you past the flag lock so your team can tele in behind them and trap them for some easy kills. (this may be new?)
-Sig of Vit / Wand of Speed - great way to trick people into thinking your almost dead so they stick around to fight you longer.. then boom you gain 50% of your hp back (instant cast) then they try to run you spam wand and get a kill. Also a good way to escape a trap, if there is no stun lock involved.
-Calling targets before you enter a XvX fight, and letting your team know who to target first when there is no time to call. If you wait until in fight to call the target you will be SOL very fast since its hard to type, use skills and macro all the same time.
-Run Away early. Very early when playing aginst premade/experianced teams. They always have a plan to trap you, or something so dont give to chase unless your 100% sure they cant get behind you for a trap.
-Watch flags that are not locked and as soon as you see a solo demigod caping it tele to it, and have one other player on your team watching to so when 2 dgs tele its useally a free kill with the stuns.
Good Games guys. I am not sure if any of you read forums but cant wait to go aginst you again. Not sure if this post will help many players out there but I hope someone learns something from this post. Also if any other pre-made teams out there need/want some good matches contact me in game. Or in forums.
Always nice to read about good games, as opposed to the constant flaming whinefest that usually takes place here.
Yea, REALLY good strats lol. Snipe/Mines Reg and 2 heaven's wraths + tower rook + ub spamming teleports.
I faced the same premade with a couple of pug's and it was the lamest thing ever, though still probably better than stomping noobs.
Was not that lame. Any team can do this just need good synergy. And they sac some good favor items fo the ability to do that. Not sure if 2 heavens wrath is best way to go for them but it works...
never really considered the flaglocking to make enemies chase u past a flag idea before. interesting
I love playing with the listed players in that list. They are all great teammates/adversaries good to get their names out.
I very much enjoyed playing against your team, IKAD. I felt like our teams were a pretty good match for each other and am looking forward to future matches. Replays will be very cool when we get them.
Regarding strategy, I am a really big fan of traps whenever possible. And the sneakier the better. To me, nothing is better than luring a higher hp character (who *knows* he's about to get a kill against a lower HP reg), tricking them to walk over 6 mines, hitting them with heaven's wrath (or more from a teammate) and then sniping them if they are about to get away for the kill. Just tonight a played a game with DingDongPirates who used a reg on leviathan. He strategically placed 4-6 mines and almost killed 3 of us (1 died) at the same time (and we were not anywhere near where the action was). Brilliant! Granted, some of that just falls to luck, it does make a strong point regarding traps. Very often worth the effort.
I think most of us who are experienced know to watch out for TPs if we are trying to take back a flag. If you see a TP effect, you need to decide immediately if you are going to stay or fight. And you, of course, only know what to do, based on your experience (can I take 1 guy... should I start charging up stun while they are porting in to get them the 2nd they arrive, etc).
If you are up against a fairly evenly matched team, cap locks and teleport scrolls are a must. Learn to fake out your opponent too. For instance, if I and another teammate kill an enemy player by teleporting in on them while they are trying to capture a flag, I can almost guarantee that if the player is any good, he will turn around on the next flag he tries to capture if he sees a portal or 2 lit up. Of course, we don't need to teleport in, because he's going to run like hell. And now we are controlling what our opponents can and cannot do. And the more often we can do that, the greater the odds we will win.
Good players up against an evenly matched team SHOULD NOT run past a flag locked by the enemy because a good team WILL port in behind you and cut you off. Especially if you believe my "I LOVE TRAPS" mentality. We all can be goaded into over pursuing because we are SO SURE that we'll get a kill. Be smart enough not to die and to trick your enemy into over pursuing.
And another random tip - if you are playing a character that uses blood of the fallen. DO NOT PURCHASE THAT IMMEDIATELY AT THE BEGINNING OF A GAME. Use BoTf like a potion. Get into combat, do your damage, and then use it when you need it. People don't expect you to heal instantly.
End all of my talking.
I've never played with the others, but I can vouch that pacov is both a great player and a good sport.
Does this still work? because since the last patch you dont gain hp/mp from newly purchased items, they only raise the maximum capacity.
Dont know about the blood favor though, havent tried it yet.
If its a team game AND against a character or charaters that typically start with low HP, I am absolutely for doubling and even tripling up heavens wrath. Take a standard situation for a game on levi (3v3 or 4v4). Let's say I am playing reg and go left. One of my teammates (a ub) goes left. I go far outside to the portal (where I'll get additional damage on a snipe) and the ub goes inside left. If I'm up against a tb... well, many tbs don't immediately start stacking health or choose or BotF. This means LOW HP build (and in the lobby, I immediately start thinking... hmm... maybe I should play reg). Anyway, let's say a tb and another character walk down the inside left lane, where they see a UB. They think "only 1 character... he's tough, but we can probably kill him." This helps ALOT. So, the ub engages the weakest character there... in this case, probably the TB. The UB appears to over pursue. Also, the UB is smart enough not to have chosen a favor item yet (so he looks a little easier to kill). Well, the UB runs up to the tb and hits him. The tb might not run immediately because he has support. UB hits once, then twice, then spits. I snipe and use heaven's wrath. Ub can (QUICKLY) choose to get BoTf if needed or grab lightning for some extra damage. And, depending on what's going on, the 3rd player can also grab heaven's wrath if needed for an extra 250 damage. The real trick is in how quickly this happens. If you don't execute it all in extremely quick succession, then it probably won't work against an experienced player. If things go well, you get a quick kill and can probably get some additional flag control. Also, watch how quickly the player you killed pulls away the next time you hit him with lightning.
All of that said, multiple heaven's wraths are great in some situations, but completely rediculous in others.
Thanks for the kind words, pseudomelon.
Also, good question - I think it does still work, but will have to pay attention next time I use it... could be HORRIBLY painful if it doesn't using the strat I describe above.
EDIT - just tested this in single player. You DO still get the immediate health bonus from BoTf.
Good post IKAD, have to say I enjoyed beating them with you the day before - was a very good game though.
Yes like i said it works for you. But the major disadvantage i saw with it for you is that after level 7-8ish it kinda becomes worthless favor items do to hp stacking and armour and it becomes creep control only item... Useally one player with it is enough but your team uses it well, and versus pug groups by level 6 or 7 a premade team has useally won, but aginst other pre made teams may not be the best item to go with because you can expect a longer game? My personal fav (my main char i play is tb) is blade of serphent it gives me unlimited amouns of mana entire game and all i need is scaled helm which allows me to stack hp and armour items quite effiecntly, swift anklet is good all game for pretty much any dg. BoTf is decent all game too. its just heavens wrath has limited use after first 6-7 levels saying people are using sigs of vit, potions, and other hp buffs that render it almost useless besides creep kills...
just my thought on it. nothing aginst the strategy it works just i dont think its a good idea to use vs premade's when you can get favor items that can last level 1-20.
A loss is a loss, true, but no one really enjoyed the lagfest we all committed ourselves too... I believe it was a 52 minute game that took and hour and ten minutes to play... I was under the impression that at 4 min and 5 seconds we realized how completely idiotic we ALL were for being stuck in an incredibly laggy game with no way to mutually conceed, with characters on both sides being highly unresponsive (I gathered this from the in game dialog we had going with you guys). Anyway, we'll hopefully get a rematch with that particular teamup as well. Congrats on your win and for how well you played under those circumstances.
BUT, fair enough, we were all stuck in the same rotten circumstances and your team pulled out a victory, so kudos.
I'm guessing this thread will probably become interesting only to those of us who have been playing these games against each other now.
1st game http://pantheon.demigodthegame.com/game/839080/player/28414/
Comments: our first match up and we got beat. I've whined enough about lag You guys played very well FTW!
2nd game http://pantheon.demigodthegame.com/game/842703/player/28414/
Comments: This really felt like an epic match (and it caused you to create this post, IKAD, so thanks!). We went back and forth for a good portion of the game. Lots of flag capping. Lots of setting traps and getting trapped. I wish we had a replay of this one because it was truly a great game for all of us. Very challenging and definitely one of the most enjoyable games I've played of demigod to date.
3rd game http://pantheon.demigodthegame.com/game/846669/player/28414/
Comments: This matchup seemed a little more one sided in my team's favor. I felt like it would probably go that way from the start because of character selection. We both had UB's and Sedna (great combo), but the real wildcard IMO was the rook v regulus matchup where I think we gained an immediate advantage. To me, that meant any one of our characters could push reg out of a lane if he tried to solo a flag. This meant that he'd HAVE to keep teaming up (which isn't bad of course) or run if just 1 of us appeared. + the early game snipes probably would not be all that valuable against us for the quick kill. I'd think having another tank in the lane might have been more game changing. Both teams appeared to do a great job of working together.
I'm really confident we'll have many games in the future that are quite challenging for all of us.
you see so few games being talked about because theyre only mentioned if names are recognized from the forums.
I have to agree the third match was not nearly as exciting as the second one we had, I definatley made a few mistakes that match, but i have been playing kinda bad all day.... must be something you put in my water pacov
Look forward to playing again of course. I also played two other premade teams today with murder/yuri and they are as follows:
http://pantheon.demigodthegame.com/game/846808/player/68478/
This was a good match. But i felt that their team was lacking synergy, it seemed they didnt cap a lot of flags or set many traps. but was still a good game. i played them again with a PUG and the PUG i was in got killed hard and fast. So they are a great premade team. Just need a little more synergy maybe?
Agin a good time. not sure if this was another version of the premade team we played the first time (one player was the same) but again they seem to lack some team synergy and were kind of slow getting some key cit upgrades.
All and all some of the best games of had in demigod in the past two months have been in the last day or two I hope it keeps up
anyone can start a thread to talk about games. does not have to be anyone recognized. thats what I did i just started the thread and people responded.
Glad you got to face off against another PM, IKAD! Hopefully we can keep finding more and more teams to play w/ or against. All the more exciting now that the host disconnect exploit appears to be resolved... not much worse in this game to me than taking down a highly ranked player or team and having them pull the plug on you. That exploit made me pretty much ONLY want to host my own games just to avoid falling victim to it.
i played against pacov and trousersnake last night and it was a good game until one of our players left...
we finished it anyway, but lost tragically.
As do I cow! Pacov and crew, gg's!! Hey dwarf, can you please provide Cowbuttzex with our Vent information? He wants to hop on. I do admit, that our "premade" needs more practice together. That is why Pacov and crew has been raping us. But we have ton's of potential!!!
You are absolutely right, the game was horrible for that.... Made worse by us not finding out why it was lagging at any point.
The enjoyment was more out of no-one ragequitting and sticking with it despite the horrors
Anyways, am up for rematches anytime, challenges are much more fun
Well said, Phirochu.
Not to mention coordinated dual stuns from Rook and UB are quite devastating if it ever gets to late game
