Stardock announced today that the demo for Gas Powered Games’ RTS game, Demigod (www.demigodthegame.com), is now available for download. The demo features online Internet multiplayer games, the Cataract map and four playable Demigods (Regulus, Rook, Sedna and Lord Erebus.) All of the gameplay modes (Conquest, Dominate, Fortress and Slaughter) in Demigod are available to play in the demo.
Demigod is the ultimate real-time tactical PC strategy game. For fans of strategic epic large-scale multiplayer battles, Demigod is irresistible.
Players will vanquish other would-be gods, gain levels and unlock the power of mystic artifacts as they battle for ascent to the Pantheon. Take control of an immensely powerful being and defeat your brethren in a series of epic arenas in order to ascend into the pantheon of the gods.
During the course of each battle, players gain experience, purchase equipment, learn magical spells, capture key resources and upgrade their Citadel while working to lay to waste the opposing faction.
Easy to play, hard to master, Demigod is available worldwide digitally via Impulse (www.impulsedriven.com) at the same price ($39.95) no matter where the person is located.
Download the demo now exclusively at FilePlanet.com!
Did you put that in just to shut me up for once?
It would have been preferable to have the Demo out a lot sooner but still, excellent show guys (finally cracked the whip on Mister Supcom eh?). Quite a few of my friends have been interested from seeing it at the Local LAN sessions, this might just hook them into buying.
6 more sales for Stardock on there way.
Nice thats a good way to split the community! Why the hell did you do this? Now its even harder to find players to play with...
Your post doesn't seem to make sense. How is a demo that anyone can play dividing the community? I honestly can't see people leaving the full game alone and never touch it again so that can play the demo of the same game.
I can't seem to find it. My search for Demigod only shows the digital and digital+box editions
In the impulse app. If you enable demos in the orb menu, it'll show on the my games tab.
Thank you, that was the problem.

Probably because they'd like some of the demo players to actually want to buy the game...and throwing them to the wolves with a bunch of experienced types like lambs to the slaughter isn't going to encourage many sales.
Anyway, glad to see a demo finally appear...I'll hopefully give this a try this weekend.
I played a fair bit tonight. Only against weak AI so far, and I never played DotA, but I think I'm starting to get a feel for the game.
It doesn't feel like I'm playing a full game, though. Yes, it's a demo, but all of the core gameplay is intact, right? It's only a few characters and maps that aren't available. I feel like there's supposed to be something more; like it's just a minigame from some larger product. I don't know if that's a problem with the game or with my expectations, but I don't see myself paying full price for this.
The fact that the demo plays like crap unless I turn all the audio settings to the minimum doesn't help matters, either.
I played this for a good part of the evening online. First off...the lag was horrible in half the games I was playing. Yikes! And it would sort of come and go at different times. That might be an issue of limited demo servers putting people together who aren't regionally that close, though, so I'm willing to accept that.
Beyond that, I sort of agree with you, Jalicos. It wasn't a bad game but I kind of wonder how long it would take for me to become bored of it. Ah well, I guess I'll pass and return to waiting for Elemental.
Try turning down your sound settings, or putting /nosound in the shortcut to turn it off entirely. There's something glitchy about the game's sound that makes it lag really bad whenever there's a lot of different noises happening.
I do have to admit that I really like the character design. Erebus' backstory is hilarious (someone at GPG must be a Buffy fan), and I love hearing Regulus rant about his "path of darkness" in that obnoxious and not-angsty-at-all Captain America voice.
They're fun to play, too. Rook is good at defense, but he's also great at charging in and generating some mindless carnage with that hammer. Sedna takes a while to get going, but she'll roll right over you with her own personal horde. Erebus' conversion ability is awesome, and that stun skill feels like a gamebreaker. Regulus can become crazy-powerful, too. I gave him a few attack-speed and life drain buffs and he was unstoppable.
That's one thing they did right, at least. I've never played a game before where everything felt overpowered.
I've played the demo a fair bit now and I really enjoy the game but my god the lag is horrible. I've yet to play a single lagless game and had to quit out from a few because of how bad it gets. I'll try the audio thing just in case.
i bought this two weeks ago as a vacation present, haha, and have played half a dozen or so games, it looks interesting and gets into the action very very quick, and i love the levels and new abilities as you go up in rank. Good to hear the demo is out, maybe i can convince some friends to join for some games.

I did some scouring around and tried it with nosound and it ran much more samoothly. Still...just not my cup of tea. I'd like to see some actually tactical maps...different areas providing different bonuses or penalites, high ground, that sort of thing. I think that's what I found grew very dull for me quite quickly was just the uniform flat nature of the map in the demo (and from what I see in screenshots and the like, that isn't any different in the other maps).
All of the maps are flat and mirrored, the tactical nature of the game doesn't come from terrain advantages rather through the actions of ones team. Using a weaker player as bait, or feigning a tactical withdrawal/advancement to influence the opposing team's movements and actions to open windows on the field. It certainly isn't for everyone however, and several of my friends have played Demigod and have come to the same conclusions as you. It's just a case of horses for courses.
Yep. It's all good. I certainly don't count my not liking it as a strike against Stardock as a company or anything like that...just not my cup of tea.
Back to waiting for Elemental.
In case you need a demonstration before downloading the demo - Demigod looks like THIS:
Demigod showcase video featuring Lord Erebus.
Demigod showcase video featuring Queen of Thorns. Probably not office safe.
