Good news for fellow Witcher fans:

Good, and as voting with the wallet also means rewarding positive steps, that will be rewarded with a sale. Unfortunately, not through Impulse, as it doesn't let me buy it.
Get the box from BestBuy, or someplace similar. You get bonus disks and some nifty books. The box comes with 1.4, but you can download the patch. I did not have to activate the Enhanced version to play, either.
Having played other BioWare-engine games, I can say that this one is the best yet as far as graphics go.
BestBuy would be nice to pay the price in dollars, which seems to be cheaper, but I can't find any shipment option to the Netherlands. I don't think buying translatlantic makes sense here anyway, shipment costs can easily double the price of the game. Then locally the lowest price I can find is EUR 39,99, a bit too much to my taste so buying international makes sense. I placed an order at Amazon UK for GBP 22,34.
Arrrrgh. I can't find my manual. For one reason or another, it's not in my casing. Why, oh why did they print the CD-key on the manual and not in the casing?
It's a very tempting purchase now.
I know they're working on an Xbox 360 version of the Enhanced Edition, and I'm not sure which one to get - I might wait and see how it fares come review time.
And aarrrgh, it's not available on Impulse either. This utterly sucks.I was really looking foward to some Witcher action. I never did finish it the first time around..

The console version, both P3 and XBox, was cancelled a couple of months ago.
i honestly think the game is awful. if you are looking for combat, look elsewhere imo. if you like making potions, well then you may want to get it
If anyone else is looking for it in Europe, here are some more options:
GBP 16.92 / EUR 19.57 at TheHut.com (including shipping within the EU). Currently out-of-stock, but you can e-mail them and ask if they can get you a copy.
EUR 12.99 at Play.com for the standard edition (includes shipping within the EU). Need to download a >1GB patch to update this to Enhanced Edition.
What version is on impulse? And what hoops will I have to jump through to get this all patched up?
I'm still waitin on the directors cut patch. I already finished the game so I honestly don't know if I'll play it again, but it was an awesome game.
Had a ton of problems with getting hold of all the patch files (for those of us with a fresh installation). Got some great help on the forums, since the official download servers for the patches appear to be down. Just felt that I should share in case the issue pops up for anyone else; http://www.thewitcher.com/forum/index.php?topic=25061.0
I find the combat very interesting and definately unique. It actually manages to blend real time combat in a RPG contex in an engaging manner. Although if you're looking for combat, I'm inclined to agree with you - if you're looking for combat, why would you hunt an RPG at all?
Well it is an action RPG, and as such the action should be well done. I didn't have any complaints with the combat system myself. It was simplistic yet engaging, and had enough variety to change things up if you wanted to after upgrading your character.
WooHoo! Now there's a Director's Cut patch too!

The patch that makes the american version similar to what the european one was from the beginning? I have to really admire CD-Projekt, not many developers have that kind of support for their games. And the console version was canceled? I bet their forum residents celebrated the whole week
I'm still pretty torn about this - half the people I talk to tell me that the game is utter crap, and the other half say it's pretty damn good. I like the more mature setting and themes - not saving a princess for once is a welcome change - however even after looking at gameplay footage I can't decide
Well i have to admit i haven't played it trough yet despite buying it pretty soon after release, however i bought Oblivion a month ago, and have been playing it pretty much non-stop (without mods, i might add ) There is just something i disagree with in that game, and the same applies to some other people too.
I don't have a direct link, but a quick google search should bring up the original banned in the US stuff, like the "sex" scenes and cards. It's pretty easy to install and get your copy up to status with the unedited version of the game.
I will note to anyone wondering, that the scenes are laughable, and worse and much more explicit scenes can be seen on any TV show that isn't a cartoon, and many that are cartoons.
To anyone who's never played the Witcher, it is, imo, a very fun game that is definately worth the full price of purchase, which is a comment I don't rarely use.
@ToJKa - for the love of all things holy please use mods in Oblivion. It makes that horridly bland game so much more enjoyable. I'd recommend Darn's UI, all of the Unique Landscapes, Natural Environments, Better Cities, and FCOM as the minimum requirements. FCOM (I guess) is optional, as it's a total rehaul of the game and some aren't into that, but it will increase your enjoyment ten fold. It looks hard to install, but it isn't. You'll thank yourself for going through the trouble and making your game so much better.
If you have The Witcher on Impulse, the latest patch(1.501) was an upgrade to the Director's Cut edition. It still says "The Witcher: Enhanced Edition" in Impulse, but a quick check of the cards reveals them to be the unedited versions.
My bad, i should have said "without any major overhaul mods". I have the weather mod, Darn UI (can't play neither Fallout 3 or Oblivion wihtout them) and few other minor ones. I'll look at installing those bigger mods once i've played enough with my current character, but IMO the game works quite nicely without them too.
This is. Awesome. Too bad I finished the game a long time ago though, I really don't feel the need to go through it again.
