Uploaded Homeworld Entrenchment 1.03. Mod is for Sins of a Solar Empire Entrenchment 1.03 as the name suggests. This is still a work in progress, but is playable now. If you find any bugs please let me know. This mod has Kushan in Tech slot, Taiidan in Vasari slot and Kadesh in Advent slot. You start with a mothership but if you lose it, no more. Will add buildable motherships and other things in the future.

That would be illegal. Only the models from Homeworld 1 were released as open-source.
Are you serious? i thought selling it was illegal. Im already halfway done the string file too. I guess making HW2 mods with the ships of homeworld 2 as well as other ships (ex:Star Wars) is legal then? And i would of thought that it would have been illegal to use star wars ships more than the homeworld ones...i guess not.
And i dont know how to make mesh files either so i guess the HW2 mod idea is down the hole.
Wait what if i make a personal mod for myself with the HW2 ships. Is that legal? and just not upload it.
I'm pretty sure that if you just rip the models from the game, it's illegal, but if you make the models yourself, and don't sell them, it's ok (which is why the Star Wars mods are ok, they all use ships they made.
but im no good at modeling. i dont even know where to start. the only modeling i do is with legos. that im good at. I guess i'll just...wait i dont even know how to unload the .big fils anyway. i downloaded the spookyRAT thing put it doesnt work. Any suggestions?
I have many mods for HW2 that has the ships from all 3 HW games. The way you guys talk it's illegal to even rip the geometry from the games. Which would pretty much make all the HW2 mods illegal. But they are out there. I know that porting them to another game like sins would probably be illegal.

And wen i download the mod it takes 30 minutes to complete and wen its done it says the files are corrupt. i read the other forum and didnt it say this one was the good DL? It cant be my computer because i just downloaded distant stars mod before it. i retried yesterday and did the same thing. Any thoughts?

Its near the bottom of the page. that page also includes a variety of other HW2 mods.
The install instructions aren't very clear though. What you need to do is extract the zip archive (obviously) and then extract the rar archive that extracts from the zip, rename the rwkadesh.big to RW_Kadeshi.big and put it into the data folder, i changed the shortcut's icon to the one it gives you but that's just me. make a copy of the Homeworld2 shortcut and add words -mod RW_Kadeshi.big at the very end. Not in the --> "" <-- those things. The files extracted also include "RequiemWar Kadesh" it says its a shortcut but i just deleted it.
One question. Did the game designers actually name it the Needleship or is it a name that us HW fans made up?

i've always used filefront. maybe if you try uploading it again.
I have also been having problems with filefront, mostly with uploading taking MANY attempts, but occasionally having to take several attempts to download from them.

It works! And for the Needleship from RW Kadeshi mod i think it would be legal to take it. i think the mod is dead. i wouldnt know how to contact any of the RW moders to know for sure. either way. its a cool mod anyway. i want to combine all the HW2 mods together to make a big mod where i can play as every race. Taiidan, Kadeshi, Kushan, The Beast(if possible) and make all the ship icons for them instead of the Unified hiigaran fleet's main flaw. (You know the blurry icon that looks like a debris hulk). And also see if i can make them all for HW2 Complexe. Yes that would be illegal...if i upload it.

One way to have Motherships produce other ships is by "spawning" them, take a look at my spawnships mod, well... i will have to upload it and give you the address, it isnt on filefront yet. Anyway, technically it is not the same as buying ships through the frigate and capitalship factories, but i believe it can be set to cost resources instead of anti-matter. One of the abilities does that, i think its the Vasari returning armada, which is the abilityfleetbeacon.entity that uses resources.
Anyway, it can be done.
I will post the mod and you are welcome to look it over, and i will repost and tell you what to look for and where. In a quick nutshell, look at the abilitydeploycombatturret.entity and also the "turrets" i made with CapitalShip and frigate meshes on them. The (frigate) Capitals produced this way are technically NOT capitals as they are considered frigates by the game and they dont level, however they are otherwise fully functional.

I made some spawn frigate abilities for motherships you can build later in the game but I am now having trouble with this error message

I got this with about 8 others at the same time with different variations. They where all about different debris meshes and one was about a kadesh swarmer mesh. I started getting this testing out a fourth race race. I looked in the mesh folder and they were all there. I even turned off show debris in options. Seems like it only happens when I get in battle and about 4, 5, 6, hours into the game. Also sometimes I can restart the game and continue past the point where it happens, but eventually it happens again. This has only started since I have added a fourth race.

about the DebrisGenericLarge3.mesh error, i have gotten that, but thought i had meshes go bad on me, so i copied new copies in, but few times i had to replace the mesh folder all together. That fixed it, but with drastic start over kinds of stuff like that I never know what really was the problem, just guessing

1. are the models in your HW mod from HW1 or did you create them yourself?

All the original ships are from the HW 1 game all the others are from different mods for HW. I got permission to use them.
Ah. I see. If only I had played HW1, then I would know what is original, what is mods. Oh well, I kind of decided I didn't like the overall look, but a list of what's original HW1 would still be nice (just in case I change my mind, who knows?).
Well ive given up on my HW2 mod. im taking a break to write a fan fiction. i was trying earlier to make a v1.16+ version of your mod but didnt work out to good. well at least i got to see the Mothership in action. i dont have entrenchment yet so i dont know the whole mod. but in entrenchment, are the engines more homeworldish? just asking.
And for some reason i cant get an account on the relicnews forums. it sais something like: email not accepted by this site or something like that. any thoughts?
And Wiskey, dude you missed out on a lot! the homeworld 1 might not have had the best graphics, but it was awsome! im playing it over and over now because of my fanfic. i need to je in details what hapens when. like if the Turranic Raiders attack before the salvage corvette needed to collect data from Khar-Selim and just little details like what Karan says each time they hyperspace jump. you know just little stuff. im at 14 pages and in the Outskirts of the Kharrak System.
But when i get entrenchment, first thing im dooin', playing this mod. forget seeing the starbases. this mod first.
So I've been trying to get this mod work for a while now and it has just been mini-dumping the ever loving hell out of me. Do any of you have any suggestions on how to get it to work? It just dies as soon as I activate it.
You must have the Entrenchment expansion. And no other mods active.
I do have entrenchment and the homeworld mod is the only one active, but it still mini-dumps me out as soon as I activate it.
With regards the errors on the meshes, i recently moved some meshes over from one of my older mods to a new one, go the error and a mini-dump. Turned out the mesh i moved was binary, not text. and became corrupted somehow. I converted a copy of the original and then moved it, it was fine after that, no errors, no mini-dump. take a look at the meshes, or replace them and see if that fixes it.
