Most people refuse to play against teams that has 2 or more heroes of the same class. They say that it is not balanced. That 2 of the same hero is too good. I assume they mean 2 of any same hero because I have never heard of any exceptions.
I have great trouble to understand why double hero is unbalanced. Each hero is fairly balanced and their combinations are fairly balanced aswell but combining 2 of the same type is unbalanced. How can this be?
Double regulus is unbalanced because of the mines and snipe, double UB is unbalanced because of the double spit... Lets assume this is the case. Why is not single spit and mines and snipe good? What is wrong with that combination?
There has to be something I have missed because I can not imagine that so many people are so damn stupid, that they would just assume that double is unbalanced because it is easier to comprehend the power, or perhaps so damn emotionally impared that they desperatly want to blame their loss on something (anything).
If they are indeed unbalanced I want to know why.
it's not unbalanced. at least not any more than using no doubles at all. your argumentation is correct. if using two times mines is op and if two spit are op too than 1xspit and 1x mines would be op too. so the whole "no doubles" rule has nothing to do with unbalance.
dobules can only be unbalanced if you use an already op dg and use him twice, thus doubling the already existing imbalance.
This may be the source of your confusion.
The double issue comes, imo, from the way damage is applied.
Snipe beceaus of his range, spit beceaus you can apply it, even stack it, and continue with you auto attack.
Some attacks are just to powerfull in the way there applied.
Where snipe would be the most powerfull early game.
Tbh, most abilities are scary when you double them.
So its more fun to have 1 of each class.
If you have two of one class, your basicly using them as one person doing double damage. And this for some classes is op.
absolutly not a single argument in the whole bunch of lines. just many claims.
two spits are imbalanced? two snipes too? why is not a combined spit and snipe ombalanced too?
It's just a matter of perception.
If you get double sniped from afar severel times in a match then it stands out in your mind. And if you get gobbed upon by two beasts when your health is in the lower thousands, then you notice with alarm how rapidly your remaining life dwindles. Likewise, getting swarmed by 20 spirits from twin Oaks makes more of an impression on you than any combination of skills.
i agree with that. it's just the imagination of one that thinks dobules are op. it just looks op seeing the same ability two times hitting you. but there is no difference in being hit by two different abilities.
I don't see any reason why using the same demigod several times on one team would be imbalanced. If anything, it weakens that team, since the strengths and weaknesses of the demigods of that team don't balance each other out that well.
Saying "no doubles" is just this brainless comment people come up with in game lobbies. I personally for the most part don't use a demigod somebody on my team is already using. But I do that because I usually pick a demigod that complements the demigod choices of the other team members.
I, for one, hate it when I'm telling "my demigod" to move somewhere, and then realize I'm looking at a teammate.
I can see facing a doubles or triples or whatever team being difficult to coordinate against. Focus fire the beast... uhhh which one? In the mix of things I'd say the multiplicity factor has an advantage of confusion.
But I guess that swings both ways if you get your own demigod confused, heh.
Double Oak is unbalanced, Double Erebus is unbalanced.
Erebus and Oak together is unbalanced.
nothing is wrong with doubles. people just bitch when the doubles can counter them, but if they can counter the doubles it's no problem at all.
That may be so, but stating it without any logical argument is kind of pointless.
Double Queen is unbalanced. Did that statement just mean anything? No.
Wait? Who said this game was balanced...? Im confused.
Tl;dr, quit bitching

Doubles are not unblalanced.
We had a match last weekend. We were 6 friends at a lan and we were playing on Prison.
This was the 2 teams:
Darkness: Rook, Regulus and Regulus
Light: Oak(Me), Unclean beast and Sedna
We won the match within 20 minutes. We kept harasing the 2 Regs. They spend most of their time inside their base because they cant really stand up to melee combat with the result that at some point we were 6lvs higher then them. Their feedle attempts to double snipe was wothless due to OAk and sedna healing the whole time. I also shielded my teammates about 3 times (much to my opposing friend's dismay....MAHAHAHA) denying them that sweet snipe finish. At the end we creamed them, all because of some well planned tactics. Let me assure you, my friends are no noobs and have some awesome skills.
All that doubles mean is similar skill choices and once they have shown their choices, planning around them.
Long live the OAK

Because minions, I've said this in several of the other threads on this exact topic as well.
Whenever someone dies, they generally 'hate' the thing that killed them. Be it penitence, pounce, or Snipe. If they see two opponents with that thing, they hate it more. They rarely blame more than one thing at a time, so a variety of things that can kill you aren't so bad. Thus, doubles makes them the most sad, so they think it is unbalanced. It is about as rational as anyone who cries about any game mechanic that they do not understand.
Every since I cut over to exclusively random for demi selection i've had quite a few double matches. It doesn't feel as overpowered in game as it does in the lobby(to me at least). If you play random do you think you have to allow doubles during demi selection in the lobby to be fair?
It's just because it's easy to work together with another person of the same class. You each know what the other is going to do, so in a pub game you can coordinate, even silently. If you plop two ooze beasts into a game and they just stick together, either they'll wreck people in melee all over the board or the other team will coordinate to overcome their brute force. I'd say the average team won't have the coordination to overcome that, given 2-3 random players.
Doubles are fine with me. That's only one counter to think about instead of two.
Two generals annoying you with minions? Your aoe just got twice as effective. Getting sniped? Go hp early and run away early. If you get in close you are generally going to be in shape for an easy kill.
You should always be thinknig about how you are going to play most effectively to make life hard on your opponent. If your opponent is only using one strategy, it seems like your job just got easier.
"Two generals annoying you with minions? Your aoe just got twice as effective."
Your AOE just got 'half' as effective.
I still think playing doubles would be fun...I wouldn't care if i lost a game against double sedna's if we were able to kill one at least once lol. I'd probably give a loud "Hell yeah!" then wonder how to kill the other...lol
Why does having more grunts to tear through make your AoE less effective? Generally speakin,g the more you hit with your AoE, the more 'damage' you're doing.
double and triple stacking a single demigod requires you to use a different... dare I say "new" stragety.
Losts of burst damage or spit (Pot/heal/shield/symbol)... typically not so much of a focus unless it's doubles, ect
2 ooze beasts? RUN AWAY... harrass them with range... or just cap and lock flags... you hold flags better beacuse your team is mobile.
Oaks shield also protects you from both oozes...
Double debuffs are much scarier (2 pentences... eep!)
How about quadruple Regs?
I've already been told this is not a problem but I can imagine it being so....
