Over the last couple of weeks we have had some negative drama on WinCustomize. The weather widget alone has caused a ton of frustration alone, so I wanted to do something to bring some positive vibes to WC, and to show that we are a community.
Since the economy is in a bad situation, I know we have many members on WC who have been hit with very hard times. Trying to help someone who has lost a job for instance can be difficult, but I do know things like hobbies and friends can make a difference in attitude, which is a big step in moving again in the right direction.
I wanted to put an offer out there for people that might want to help other members with a WC subscription or even software gifts. There are people here who would like to contribute to the community, and we would like to give a helping hand in getting them started if they can’t do it on their own.
I’m going to start the ball rolling by offering 2 WinCustomize subscriptions for two people who are not current subscribers. Just tell us in 50 words or less why you would like to have a WC subscription, and what the community means to you. You need not give any personal details about your situation if you wish, I would just like to hear how skinning and the community might help you in general.
If there are any other community members that would like to help, I would recommend gifting applications to someone which is easily done in Impulse. Perhaps an upcoming skinner that needs a full version of WindowBlinds for instance, instead of relying on the trial or friends to test, for instance. If you would like to do that, you can PM me with details.

I appreciate your suggestion. I had thought of requesting assistance for the specific problem I encountered, but sensed a reluctance of other members to suggest a fix for another author's work. Nevertheless, it can't hurt now, since I've exhausted every other possible solution. I'll give it a try.

I volunteered to help out and nothing came of it, so from my personal experience my statement is accurate.
If your desire to help someone is still there you could just pick someone, go to their site and see if they are a subscriber and if not, gift them a sub.

ID's approach was a good one because it provided an avenue for people that wanted to skin to ask for the program if they couldn't afford it. that was with SKS6 which, at that time, didn't need windowblinds to use, now you need windowblinds also.
So, how can you identify a skinner with potential/attitude that doesn't already have a skinning program?
By the empty gallery? jk.

This place rocks big time. If they can take a woe-begone wannabe skinner like me and show me the ins and outs of stuff then they can do anything. Except maybe go to the moon ... drive an submarine ... fly a space shuttle ... draw a straight line ... all that really hard stuff. Kudos to our community.
Times are tough for me lately through my own fault --falling into credit card debt a few years ago by overspending. Thankfully I came to my senses- I'm pouring practically all of my paychecks into paying off the debts and am now down to only three credit card balances and one will be --with God's help- paid off by the end of May.
The last two have no interest until 2/2012 and 2013- and I will then be putting huge chunks into those. So I only use debit card or cash now and have cut up and locked away my credit cards. Actually, --- like the AAA members, I put the matter in God's hands and since doing that have mysteriously lost all desire to spend needlessly- goiing on 2 months now. It's a life changing experience and a feeling of liberation.
One thing I made sure to do- after my father gave me his used computer (another blessing) was re-up my Wincustomize subscription for only $8.95, so I can keep downloading all the beautiful skins here. I dont' regret it and the bill was paid off before the statement arrived.
This is one of the best, cleanest skinning sites out there- probably THE best as far as I'm concerned.

Hmm... Two years in the making and I am trying to make a come back. Been married for 16 years and ran a daycare with my wife. she cheats on me. divorces me and what do I get out of it. My camper to live in for two years. daycare job gone with divorce. ya hard times has hit me. work at walmart and that does not even support me to get an apartment. found a cheap apartment and living day by day. hope to have enough gas to go to work. But I am on the come back. until jobs open up I am stuck at Wilmar. but happy to have the job. things are looking up every day and all though I am struggling. I am happier and renewed my WC subscription. Why you ask. WC has always been my second home and always will be. Thanks to WC and all my friends here.
I can sympathize with that. Most are struggling with the economy in the shit can. Just know this....we're one of the biggest family groups in town and we care for our own. So...that said......waiting on more stuff from you dude 'cause we don't have enough toys to play with yet. At least I don't anyway.

I'm almost too embarrassed to ask but my sub ends July thirtieth. A year ago a member gifted me with one and since then its been a trip. I graduated from doing simple calendars to Sysmetrix, got a few features under my belt and even made Master Apprentice. I'm pretty proud of myself. Anyway, due to my situation I am unable to renew my sub. If someone would be so kind as to do it for me I promise to get it back to you as soon as I can. I know the economy is in pretty bad shape not just here but almost everywhere so if it isn't possible I understand. Thanks guys.
I have been here around 7 years & have always wanted to subscribe but due to taking care of 5 kids some disabled & I do construction have been hard hit by thre reality market & others medical probs. I learned almost everything I know by reading and trial & error. Most of you know me as a Logon artist which lately I have been doing walls & icons. I have been offline for some time now do to those probs and have now come back as I have some companies wanting to promote my artwork which would help greatly help my financial position and would gladly payback the fee as this is what I love to do. Most have all seen my work & have worked with me and I have contributed to suites. I one way or the other will continue to contibute but I to am embarassed to ask as Uvah, I can feel his pain. I appreciate everyones help and will always be here for any of you.

I would love a subscription but need some other form of internet connection first, I have 3kb dial up and it takes forever to upload my work! So, when you have that for free I may beg harder! Would like a subscription though I do not feel like the most deserving candidate.
