Im still new to this mod, was wondering where you are getting the story from, actual ST universe, or making it up as you go. I like it regardless! I noticed that on the Fed ships it has disruptors listed. Is that just something that hasnt been changed or will the feds ships be packing them?

Yes, I am one of the original Trekmods members. I used to go by the handle The Stress Puppy. Most of Trekmods team has long retired, and moved on. Dolphonix, Dasher, and Thomasthecat keep in touch from time to time. They all know of SoA 2, and it has their blessing. Though they are not directly involved with the project. I am the only one from Trekmods left that is still actively modding.
Dolph, and Dasher finally released a "finished" SoA mod for homeworld on the TGU forums. Just in time for the 10th anniversary of Homeworld. The year is 2383, and there was no great galactic supernova that wiped out Romulus. There is no such thing as "red matter", and Nero is still enjoying his life choice of honest labor, and Ambassador Spock is still on Romulus teaching logic to those that will listen. In other words TREK XI never happened as far as we are concerned. Dont get me wrong i liked the movie, but it has plot holes as big as a black hole. The biggest one of letting 8 billion Vulcans die, and keeping them dead. Trek XI is supposed to be an "alternate timeline", and that the Prime timeline still exists according to the powers that be. However i doubt any new post TNG series or movie will ever be made.
This gives us the oppertunity to tell new stories based in the prime universe. Do we want to tell "war stories" of course not, because Trek shouldnt be all about war. However Sins is a game that focus's on war. The new expansions focus on different aspects, and even in SoTSE there is a limited diplomacy option. Now that the Diplomacy expansion is coming we dont have to focus on only on war.
Well dang fine job on what you have done and big kudos for getting it back up and going. Im simply stunned as I play the Federation, listening to the music and simply smile as I hear the different songs thru out the game. This has totally remade my Sins game experience and will enjoy this for as long as i can!
The converted mod doesn't work for me
As soon as the play screen loads (After you've selected map/teams etc), I see a bunch of constuition class ships and then I hear the windows error sound

Great to hear about the working Cloak! Can't wait to have the romulans in the mix! One question, will the Defiant be getting cloaking tech, now that everybody has gone and broken any and all forms of treaties/alliances?
I personally tested the converted mod harpo uploaded many times with developer.exe, and it works fine on my end. I have no clue why its crashing on others box's. Which is why i put the "Try at your own risk" there.
Did you use harpos download link, or try to convert the 1.03 version to 1.041 yourself? Like i said it works for some but not for others and i dont understand why. Which is why we are pushing for our next update. If it doesnt work just sit back and be patient we are on it.

I had my first long run yesterday, tweaking 3E.2, with mixed results. looks like i'll have to keep tweaking it until its right. I did however have a very successful defense with the station and hander defense when the 2 AI's teamed up against me and zerged to my homeworld. just goes to show strike craft are really valuable for defense. I did make some minor tweaks with the starbase files, nothing stat wise, but setup wise.
Its uploaded. I would talk on MSN, but it seems to be busted. some stupid error code 8000401a re-installed several times same problem. trying to get tech support on it.
download a older version of msn and it should work

Im starting to get the mini dumps, cant track a specific reason as I get them when im not researching and when I am, just seems very random. Was wondering if there was anywhere I could post them to or upload them if you wanted to check them out. Ive had issues with other mods in other games not working and the problem ended up being a Vista issue. In Civ 4, for a mod, we actually found out that Vista doesnt like errors, so if one happens, boom crash out, while say XP, will just keep on going. Really sucked as I had to stop playing that mod too. NOt sure if this could be related but thought I would share. I did check some of the sites listed above, but didnt see an upload for the dump files.
Ive tried various things to reproduce the dumps, but nothing works twice. It will dump, ill reload as close as I can, will work find, then dump again at a random spot. Sometimes, Ill play for hours(as I can play at work ) and other times it could happens within minutes of starting the game. So far this has been with the Federation only, havnt played the Klingons yet, but thats coming shortly.
We cant read the mini dumps. Only the Sins Developer's can. We are not programmers. Most of us cant even code. So the dumps are useless to us. Try running sins using developer.exe and document the errors as they come up (if you can).
I have stated above in the main topic that the converted soa2 works for some, but not for others. The converted copy i run has only ONE dev.exe error that is the same one Harpo reported before he uploaded the file, and its not a game crashing error. We cant support the converted copy, because if dumps for you we wouldnt know where to start to fix it.
The only things i can suggest until we release our next update is...
Uninstall sins. This includes deleting the entire "ironclad games" folder where you put your mods. delete it all. then do a fresh install through impulse, or from an impulse archive file. Run it, and make sure it all works with no problems
Make sure the mod is installed correctly. In the proper mod folder (mods-entrenchment 1.041). Make sure that there are not TWO instances of an SoA2 mod folder (one inside of the other). This happens sometimes if you auto extract rar files. It is best to manually create a new SoA 2 mod folder, and then manually drag the contents of the rar into it. Make sure you open the rar so you see the folders "galaxy, gamedata, textures," etc etc. then select all, and drag it into your newly created SoA 2 folder. Sins is very finiky about this.
Make sure no other mods are in your mod folder except soa2, and try running the mod again.
Make sure you are not running other mods with SoA 2. like any map, or effect enhancer mods. We did not design SoA2 to be compatable with any "add-on" mods like that. Because we did make our own effects, and we did change the maps. So running any add on would more than likely break the mod.
Run the mod with sins default effects settings at first. or all settings on low. Then work your way up to highest setting. Try all of the settings, and see if its an "out of memory" dump. Sometimes if sins "thinks" you are running out of ram it will dump. This is not the mods fault.. its sins fault. We designed the mod so that any machine that can runs sins should be able to run the mod with no problems, but you never know.
If all else fails it is very possible you have a corrupt download. try redownloading the mod again.
That is all i can think of.

I must be blind, but im not sure where to get the developer.exe you are talking about. Does it come with the game or another site. Could you link it and help a noob like myself out?

for the developer sins look in the exe's folder ie program files\stardock games\sins of a solar empire, then scroll down the list untill you see TWO sins and entrenchment icons, one of each of the files will have 'Dev' just before the exe. these are the developer versions.
ironclad has started supplying the dev builds with EACH patch at last as I had suggested to blair in an email back at the release of 1.02

I noticed that the akira now take 49 supply!!!! Is that correct? That is more than two Vorcha at 19 supply. Great job on the mod guys, it has been alot of fun this last year!
Yes that is correct, and the Vorchas will be getting their fleet cost raised.
Geez the intrepid doesn't seem much weaker, and they only cost 10. I think you would just build 5 of those instead of one akira. The amassador only costs 43, and is much meaner. I don't mean to complain, but you might want to rethink that number for the heavy crusier slot!
The Akira supply was increased because of its torpedo firepower. Which was one of the biggest bitches of the last update that the akira was too powerfull. We didnt want to reduce the way the akira fired its torps so we upped the supply. The intrepid may have similar beam firepower, but it has next to nothing as far as torpedos (just like the show). Go ahead and face some akiras off vs intrepids and tell us who wins. In the nest update the akira is being changed to the anti structure roletype.
