Sweet, i have been wating for an entrenchment version for a LONG time =] good to know about plans to release what you guys have finished so far
Compared to the 0.01-0.03 releases not very much. With this version we literally had to start over yet again from scratch to make it work with Entrenchment. So thats 3 times the mod was rebuilt from nothing. 1st two times was because vanilla sins patches broke the mod. Which is one of the reasons why it is taking so long. The other is most of the teams crazy RL scheduales (hence the "Major Stress Meltdown"). Not having a Developer exe did not help our situation at all.
What we have so far...
Full Federation Faction with "most" of its structures, and tech tree complete. There are still some loose ends to tie up with the feds. Most unfinished structures will use default sins models with trek weapons and stats.
Full Klingon faction. They need a few more structures than the feds do, and the tech tree is still a WIP.
The Borg... Yea, yea, we said we weren't going to include them before... We lied The borg are part of the SoA 2 lore. We wanted to "surprise" you with thier inclusion, but the cat got let out of the bag.
The borg ship lineup is about 60% complete. Tech trees are still a WIP. As are thier structures. LokiGodofMischief has been the primary modder for the borg. Both in modeling, and scripting. So BIG kudos need to go to him. He knows along with Darkshimmer how to NOT make them look stupid like the "professional" trek games did. Much still needs to be done with the borg. Mainly in balancing because they are going to be the most difficult faction to balance right.
Romulans nothing has been done with them yet, because we haven't had time. Same with the Dominion. They will be in a later update.
Dynamic movement is in, but it still needs work, and ships re-balanced due to the movement changes.
There you have it. Like i said before a tremendous amount of work still needs to be done.

When the mod gets released, There will be a secondary release about 2 weeks after that. This "mini" addon will add more borg goodness to the mod as well as their Starbase + Superweapon and more stations (which will be staying out of the first release) as well as a major shake up as to how you obtain cubes. Cubes will be the Borgs Captails (Scout / Tactical / Siege) While the borg will have 5 capitals the other 2 will be a diamonds and spheres.
The BORG WONT have any "borg" tech trees untill the second "mini" release
and the mini release will balance the borg some more

...any chance of getting the source for this mod? I was playing with 0.03c...anyhow, I'd really like the opportunity to tinker with it on my own, if that's ok. I'm just bored. So far I've tweaked the original sins gameplay quite a bit to make things a bit more "believable" to me...I'd love to see what you've done in terms of getting the ships to actually maneuver during a firefight. (I can't believe the sins team has them just sitting there and firing...)

so um new update for ship balancing i'm testing is really going to make things interesting, just too bad the game don't have the graphic for missing, but ships will miss now, you'll realize it more with weapons that fire duals. Suddenly only 1 weapon fires, thats a miss folks! on the other weapon. Also damage tables have been redone. I um, won't share with you my inital thoughts, i wouldn't want to upset anyone. but the balance is getting much closer now than before.
The klingon tech trees look good for the most part. A few cosmetic things like research on the wrong tier based off how many stations you need but nothing serious.
The new misses and balancing, well until you say it's ok to comment on it I won't say anything Shimmer.
I also haven't noticed that weird movement with the K'tingas anymore so Idk if you fixed that or it was just one of those minor movement glitches.
Nice to see the mods going alright again. It'll be interesting to see what the community input will be like.
I hope it turns out to be a great mod for you guys, and I will continue to watch and enjoy everything you lot release.
I cant say much of anything yet until i check it out. I haven't had a chance to sync until today. Busy, Busy, Busy.
Gonna try to get that damn fed starbase done today. Some of the UV re-mapping is being a major pain in the ass. In case you guys haven't noticed the 3rd party models they came from mods (mostly the best in our opinion of SFC, and BC mods). Most of the 3rd party models had many texture sheets. Sometimes they were quite big. Others were pretty small. While using multiple textures per model will work in sins, It is much harder on the games engine to do so. Which equals loss of FPS, crashes, etc.. So i am combining all of the models textures into one single sheet, and re-UV mapping each model to duplicate the system used by the original Sins models. It reduces the amount of work the game needs to render each model, Saves resources since we dont want to go over the 2 gig memory limit, and helps us organize the files better. Supposedly the 2 gig limit was fixed in Entrenchment, but we dont want to take any chances. I basically wanted the replacement ships not to be bigger resource wise than the original ship they are relaceing in both poly count or texture size. That way anyone that can run Sins can run the mod.
FYI the biggest textures in sins are (this is just in vanilla sins not the mod)
The skybox's (4096)
Planets (2048+)
Biggest structure texture is obviously the Starbase (2048x2048) Rest fall from 2048 down to 1024
Biggest ship textures are some of the capital ships (2048x1024)
Rest from cruisers, frigates, civilian ships, etc. fall into the 1024x1024, or 1024x512 catagory. Fighters are 512x512 belive it or not.
We tried to match, or do better than this in the mod. There are some ships that are way over the limit, but we let them go for now being as there wont be many of them on the map at once.

About voices... yes we have "some" voices, but we need more. We dont want voices from picard, sisko, janeway, etc. We would prefer unknowns.
What kind of statments/quotes/voice/lines are you looking for specifically...
Build que acknolegments, structure complete, and unit responces, etc. The borg are almost covered, but there are few more voice files needed. Ask Loki about them since he is the primary modder for the borg. Feds have most of the unit responces, but we need station complete, structure complete. research acknolegements etc. If you wish to help just go down the list for each (Trek) faction, and do voices. We will use the best of what the community contributes. Contact Darkshimmer if you wish to help out here.
We need to fill the main topic with screenshots guys. Maybe a movie or two. Post whacha got. The best will go up top. Make sure it is in full cinematic mode, and "Ship Mesh Highlight Filter" is turned off.
Let wait until the first release for voice fill in's, This way you can hear whats missing and i can concentrate on finishing up what i have instead.

I wish there was some way I could contribute. Unfortunately I don't have any modding skills. The only thing relevant I have is a whole boat load of Trek knowledge, gathered from being obsessed with Trek since 1st grade, but I'm sure you guys are covered in that department. And I have those old Micro Machine ships. But I don't think those are of any use to you guys!
As per your request Stress, I've dug through and picked out what IMO are my best screenshots. Strangely enough all my best ones seem to have the same ship present lol. If you need more screenshots I can always get more, just let me know.
