Guide/Test – Are you a Noob?
I’m not ranked-1 or a supreme player, but I do just fine in this game and I don’t want to get a noob on my team that will lead to a lost game. I know I can premade a group and start a game, I usually do, but its not always that this can be a possibility and I want to play and have some fun, and losing aint fun when it can be avoided. Ps: English isn’t my primary language, sorry for any inconvenience this might generate to you.
So here it goes:
Why I wrote this? Well, if you are a noob in any of those statements don’t bother entering a game with the description “No Noobs” or “Pro”, your team will probably lose and your team will be very unhappy with you, don’t waste your time or anybody else time. Do as every1else, learn to play with noobs, and once you improve try the pro games. Or set a premade yourself and face pros to learn their tactics, don’t ruin some random pro-guy game-play trying to learn the game.
With this, by no means, I want to be disrespectful to any1. I’m always polite in game, every time some1 asks me something about my build or items or whatever in game, I answer. I’m never rude to any1 in game, always trying to help. And this post is another try in helping ppl out once more.
Gl all and hf.
If this is not a joke.....
hehe things are not always as simple as they seem to be.
Only correct post in the thread.
Unfortunetly for the pub player demigod is a team game and has 8 demigods probaly 2 more to come Each dg has at least 5 different skills with higher levels and variating tech trees. what im getting at is there is no good or bad players. there are only fail stratergies depending on the format you like most i enjoy 2v2s as they require the least teamwork and focus more on individual skill. You simply cannot rely on pub players to follow a build and strat that works simultaneously with yours. you just cant expect that which is why 4v4s and higher are easily the most frustrating format you might get.you may get lucky and your teams strats may work well with eachother but its always a risk. This is the same case with DoTa unless you are scrimming and you can strat somewhat and communicate to a higher degree with your teammates most games will be frustrating.I'm waiting for a 1v1 map so we can actually establish individual skill in this game. This isnt just rts its fps too with games like cod and cs You think you can establish good or bad players well in games like those its more blatant with identifying bad players like having bad aim.but lack of voice communication and such will lead to problems.A great thing about demigod is that there are enough skills for each dg to make sure they can all be individually effective with the support of a good item build a dg you might think to be pure support like sedna or QoT can actually become a decent soloer. If you want to establish noobs and pros play a 1v1 match. There are obviously some things you just do not do in the game but some of these are stupid and circumstantial.
EDIT*
You can actually 1v1 crucible quite effectively
Um...no. If you continously allow that Regulus to kite you over his mines, if you continously pick fights with the DG that killed you 3 times already, then you are a bad player, because there is no sort of strategy good or bad in that situation, only a plain lack of common sense. It doesn't mean you can't get better and become a good player, but right now you aren't.
You can have the best preset build or strategy in the world. It means nothing if you can't execute it.
Some stuff is just blatantly noob but that stuff doesnt need to be said as it does go without saying its like saying banging your head against a brickwall til death is a unwise choice you dont need to be told that, it is commen sense. I was generalising everybody generalises i cant define every kind of noob and every kind of pro.
Nobody is defining every type of noob and every type of pro. The op is simply a list of things that noobs do. No one is defining any specific type of noob. And you obviously do need to be told if you're doing it.
Also, you stated that there are no bad players, which is just wrong.
I think you know what i meant JagerJack your just arguing for the sake of arguing.Im saying that in 2v2s and higher where teamwork comes into play and each person trys their best and yet they still lose to the enemy in many many cases the losing team arent noobs at all they just have conflicting builds and stratergies. The only real test for "Are you a Noob?" would be 1v1 in team games it rarely can be defined as you have mentioned there are just somethings you just do_not_do.But those go without saying as i mentioned.I dont think you need to be told either sure it will shorten the learning time its how most do it though which turns people off they tell em by X player is a fucking noob or X you can just leave. If they genuinly pointed what is wrong in their doing in a non rude manner then good on the people who can achieve that most just rage the unexperienced guy though. They will learn in time anyway usually by LOSING you can tell something went wrong.Commen sense also indicates dying is bad.
No, I don't. You plainly said there is no such thing as a bad player. I said otherwise. I went no further than that.
That still doesn't mean that someone on the opposing team isn't a noob. Many of the things listed in the OP can include, or are even exclusive to, games over 1v1. If you die twice in under 3 minutes, whether it be 1v1 or above, you aren't very good, because having a "conflicting build" isn't an excuse for picking a fight with the DG that just killed you a minute ago. It's an excuse for dying once and staying away from that DG until you are strong enough to face him, because it's obvious that you aren't strong enough now.
As i said it goes without saying..
Honestly didnt need a thread but eh im bored argue away jagerjack.
How on earth does pointing out noobly activities in anyway shape or form help anyone? If you want to actually achieve something then give them some tips on getting better dont just reply with The opposite of these.Actual tips so they will no longer will be noob..Being one is part of the learning process but pointing one out doesnt achieve anything.it says the main objective is to tell noobs not to join games with no noobs or pros. well how else are they going to get better if they arent playing people who have more knowledge and more experience then them? Most things you learn in demigod you could probaly find out in skirmish mode or tournament there are however some things that are more easily learnt or exclusive to multiplayer that people your own skill level wont learn anytime soon unless seeing firsthand it happening to them and then losing the match because of it.The first players of demigod obviously learnt by sp and you can be sure they learnt the slowest as at the time no one was better and they had to figure it out for themselves.if you dont want to verse a noob why play public games? why not get into a team and scrim? Some people take public games far too seriously.
I just realised something the way i dont check my grammar and spelling makes it extreemly tempting to argue with me.Ive actually had this happen a few times without realising it.But most of the time when im being fairly serious i have a point but i just disagree with the need of this thread entirely. You know what would be mint? a guide for new players and advanced tips for the more seasoned ones
Triple post much? You realize you can edit your posts right? Anyways...
There are tips in the OP. You're just not seeing them for whatever reason:
If you think locking flags is a waste of money: you’re a big noob.
Lock flags
If you don’t communicate with your team: Noob
Talk to your teammates
If you have 8k gold and your team just hits War Rank 10 and you buy mageslayer without even asking if some1else can buy giants or if its important grunts at the particular time: Noob
Buy citadel upgrades before artifacts
Because this game currently has no team support obviously.
I couldn't care less about your spelling or grammar. I just know think you're wrong.
http://forums.demigodthegame.com/349958
Pinned on the first page of the strategy section.....
I'll take this as you having nothing left to argue with.
Lol it just doesnt need a thread mate.
Lock flags?
It does not say lock flags it says if you dont your a big noob..Perhaps noobs really dont care?
talk to your team mates?
Yeah lets strat beforegame aswell...No simple comms are good but god its a public game..
As you can see they arent tips at all there just telling you your a noob if you do X not saying Y is a good idea big difference.
Why would i edit my posts? Im not taking this that seriously i just think the threads unnecessary for reasons ive already given.
No team support? rofl. Its very simple if you want to play demigod play it if you dont. Then dont just quit making threads like this..
I see what you did there.
Excellent! ill have a look at it but its irrelevant in regards to the purpose of this thread. If noobs wanted to get better they can go there they clearly dont so...
No this thread doesnt need arguement because it doesnt need to exist it shouldnt of been created in the first place tbh.But we appear to be quite bored especially you, the effort you go to with your posts.
So did you see what i did there?I didnt use quotes or strikethroughs and yet its still easily understandable. And yet i didnt take half an hour to respond.Yours looks nicer and is better to read but to be honest. im not taking this that seriously If people (noobs) wanted to improve they would they are clearly just awful or dont take the game seriously OR BETTER YET they dont take pub seriously.http://forums.demigodthegame.com/349958 to become a better demigod player
And who are you to decide that exactly?
It's called reading comprehension. Just because it doesn't say that in plain words doesn't mean that that isn't what the post is about. And if noobs don't care they wouldn't be reading strategy threads in general, which makes your point about this thread being useless moot.
Your point being?
Well obviously if you want to play Demigod then do so. But perhaps I want some general tips on being a good player?
Well, excuse me for trying to sound inteligent.
As shocking as it may seem I actually have a life. Yes I know shocking, but please excuse me for not responding in a timely fashion.
You don't have to take the game seriously to want to get better at it.
You still do not seem to realize that this thread was mostly joking, even if it is all true.
if its a joke then lol.
if not then lol...........
Thats it
Whenever I read the foruns I try to look for something I don't know and learn.
So, I listed 16 things a player should know, and try to get better at, if thats not a "guide", in a weird way at least, I must be crazy.
As I said in the OP, I do give direct information in game whenever asked, and ppl ask a lot. This was my way of doing it public.
I belive its clear enought, sorry if it wasn't clear enought.
Being a noob is not a terminal condition, many noobs lead happy lives once they've come to accept it.An effective noob cure has yet to be discovered, but there is always hope!On a serious note, there are many ways to play demigod but if you join a game marked "PRO ONLY" that you can't handle you are just ruining the game for everyone. I don't go joining noobs only games just to kill people over and over. Its not a matter of looking down on people, and demigod doesn't have to be played competitively. It is annoying though when you lose a game automatically and waste 20 minutes because some random person decided he was "pro".
I am sure this would suck but.. There is no single way to tell if you are a beginner, experienced or a pro...
There are noob games that i join and i get beat up so badly it makes my eyes water..
There are noob games that i join and i couldve won in a 3V1 because they were really in their very first game
There are noob games that i join and we duke it till 30 minutes in.. both got giants going. kills going back n forth
One of the main problems might be that the "pros" go joining noob games just to have a nice tingly feeling in their epeen. And another is people diving straigt into online play, and then go about asking me how they can buy a potion, or what "buy priests" means.... Or doesnt know how to cap a flag
Both sides of the scale join the same games (i know not every pro does this.. but you get the idea) And this leads me to not having a single idea how good i really am. I know all the skills, pretty much what they do, their costs and conditions to be met. I know not to die and i communicate with my team ( not that they listen)... So at best id say im experienced.. But you only see noob games or pro(or a variation of the term) games. you be prepared to be dissapoined when i join a pro game just because i cant seem to tell how good i really am
I agree with you.
Check this topic, it might help you: http://forums.demigodthegame.com/358078
On a secondary note, I posted this on General, and I will post it here.
I was just looking over the ranking and all and decided to check the last players games, just for the fun of it and I noticed something interesting.
From the last page (8 players total) 3 of them join games titled "No Noobs", "Pros" "experienced players" often. (Arkias, wurvey, frosaly) and 3 others join those kind of games not that often, but still do. Only looking the first page of the game list.
My question is, why?
Cool, I'm most high-ranked noob on this thread.
The funny thing about this thread is that the best players in demigod are noobs according to these rules.
I rather be a winning noob than following these rules and keep loosing.
I'm a gigantic noob. Then again, I don't play online...
What does DG stand for?
Anywho, this was an entertaining post. I'm a noob twice over. (Sometimes with Citadel upgrades I'm not sure what to get. I only get creeps). Also I don't lock as much as I should.....
dont understand the hate on the OP, all of the rules he stated are game winners. Hes just imparting his game knowledge upon the masses. Hopefully we are all trying to improve our game.
and while your reading. WTF BUY CIT UPGRADES SO I CAN GET A PIECE OF EQUIPMENT BEFORE LEVEL 8 (i typically am left with buying currency, exp (on 3v3 andup), and bldg health, ALL game winners. Im sure some nubs will flame those little gems).
ps. pull your GD weight
pss.. buy cit upgrades.
I wouldn't say not knowing all those points would label you as "noob" player but without the knowlodge of those issues, you are not a pro player for sure. I think it is helpful thread made with good intentions. Demigod is an multiplayer game and people, either noob or pro, would definetly enjoy it more by playing with other people that has more or less the same amount of experience in the game. This is pretty much the same in many competetive games, for example, a more common and famous game:chess. So, i really dont understand how people can take Kokujin's post so negatively. Everybody is playing this game to enjoy it, there is no doubt about that. People are only looking for a common ground to do so.
P.S: Since it is written by a non-native english speaker, there might be some grammatical errors.
17. If you try and suicide kill someone when you can clearly see his friends are nearby...n00b (seen this more often than you think)
18. Getting in a Xv1 (x>1) -> (most of the time) noob
19. Attacking towers by meele early on with no creep or ally DG support -> noob
20. Trying to solo when you are a support demi -> (most of the time) noob
