I host every game I play for the simple fact that, I play games with people I know. When did gaming communities forget that people out there have friends, and it shouldn't be expected that every person in a game is random? Gaming communities are built on establishing relationships with people, not room hopping playing with random people and forgetting. You learn in this game by playing with others, trying new things, and establishing partnerships.
Before the next freaking crybaby that enters my game ask yourself this. Yes he wins a lot with that Char guy on his team, maybe they're just friends? Not some super top secret team that practices and strategizes to stomp noob faces in. It's hard enough to get a game going in a reasonable amount of time people.
On top of that, where did one establish that because people are friends you're automatically at an instant disadvantage? I played countless dota games back in the day with my friends, not some super secret clan! We lost a large majority of the games to random people, simply because not everyone of our friends had the same level of experience.
Stop your crying and excuses for why you lose. You lost because you did not play well with your team.
Indeed. But no need to use caps.
better? It just gets annoying after awhile.
You're a gamer, you're not allowed to have friends.
lmao!
I completely agree and I've posted similar to what you wrote in other peoples premade rants. Annoying to see people drop out of games just because I'm in the game with a friend. And honestly, we're not that good AND we don't use vent. I can understand the people who don't want to play against premade teams with vent when their PUG doesn't have it, but that's not use. We type to talk, are slightly above average players, and I play with new people and friends new to the game all the time and they really aren't that good. Also more than half the time I only play with one friend and we have a PUG player on our team.
All that being said nice record wicked, want to team up sometime?
I play around 9 central with Char, you can add me. We ussualy have a slot for one.
he's having a hissy fit because he said dumb shit in the "offical stats blah" thread
CRY MORE OP
Agreed, obviously if you're joining a custom game, its a guy playing with mates. Solo players just do skirmish or pantheon.
Woca, stop being a moron. This post was made before my response there. Again your failure to use basic logic and reading comprehension is astronomical.
All Dota is 5v5 though. Willing to bet you're not playing 5v5 every game now though.
As such your concentrated skill is providing a much larger benefit than it was before. Not saying there's anything wrong with that though.
As long as you let everyone know that you know each other they have no basis for complaints. It's pretty obvious when you're chatting with them in the lobby though so any idiot should get the hint.
Wish I could give more. I try to play with friends as much as possible, if I'm solo, I skirmish. It has nothing to do with winning more (look at my mediocre stats for proof), I just find it far more fun to play with a couple Buddies on my team.
I've never denied the fact we are a "premade" and yes, I still get complaints.
Actually, we had so many people on DOTA that we could often do 5v5 of just us. So by that logic of more concentrated advantage through premade, I should have won more. Since most of my friends have old computers that can't run anything past wc3, it is currently only 4 of us. Two of us which really really play. To be honest, I carried alot of my team through the DOTA days, having them on my side was more often a burden than not. But I love my friends, and I didn't care. We had fun regardless.
I simply don't get the hatred for premades. It isn't like a premade is a secret organization of elite gamers bent on ruining the game for beginners. I didn't know anyone when I first got Demigod. I played a few games, added a few of the players to my friends list from the first few games and then kept playing with those people since its more fun to play with friends. It really is THAT easy to make friends and premades.
Step 1: Play a game
Step 2: Message a teammate in that game asking if they want to play another afterwards.
Step 3: Add player to friends list.
Step 4: You're a premade, congrats!
Here is a tip: name your games appropriately. None of your last 20 games include any indication that you are are premade so I can see people joining the lobby and leaving after finding out the game includes a premade. Especially since it is clear from your record that you are stomping the other teams - you are bound to get complaints.
And another tip, if you want PUG players to comeback for future games, kick people with bad win rates from the lobby so that the PUG at least has a chance. Just looking over your last 20 games, you have several PUG players that have 20% win rates against you. One bad player ruins the game for everyone else. When I host premade games, I make a point of checking the records of the opposition out and punting obviously bad players - it makes for less rage quiting and far closer games. PUG players come back when the games are tight.
And more food for thought, the only lose you have is against... what for it... another premade. So stop the schitck about being just a group of regular people looking to have fun. You and char are clearly good players and capable of taking any PUG thrown at you. I'm sure it's a blast for those PUG players.
I'm all for premades (obviously since half my games are premades). People should be able to play with friends. But have you tried playing against a premade as a PUG player? Based on your game stats, you haven't. So you have no idea what a pain in the ass it is to play a PUG with crappy teammates against a premade. This isn't some game where you can carry a bad player.

So long as you join every game and let us premade people know that you do not know anybody. There is zero, none, null, nada, etc reason for anybody to tell any other person that they are playing with people they know. It has nothing to do with being secretive. It has nothing to do with wanting to win or lose.
Who I know should have no bearing on you. How you play as a team depends on you and every other person on that team - knowing them before hand does not change this. Don't like the fact your teammates aren't paying attention to you? To bad, that has nothing to do with the opposite team.
How badly you get beat has nothing to do with the other team. Stop trying to place the blame on anybody but yourself. It is on you to decide what game you want to play in - the host and anybody already joined has no responsibility to tell you that they are noobs are gods. It would be nice if they would hurry up and add those in game stats, but that has nothing to do with premades. That simply has to do with the fundamental issue of playing with bad people - again, that issue is not an issue with premades.
You can also see that we always carry a public player with us. Yes I have played by myself in this game before, it's not as bad as you all seem to make it out to be. You have to actually meet and talk to people. I know most public players see this as some sort of crime, but get over it. This is a team game, not a solo game. Yes I could put a sign on the game if I wanted to, but honestly do I need to? I make the same game name everytime so people get the idea who join my games ussualy start to learn who I am. Yes we lost to another premade, but it wasn't the fact that they were friends that we lost. They played exceptionally, and it was a great fun game, despite us having a TERRIBLE teamate. It is a game you can carry a bad player, just how much is the real question.
It's not premades that win games, its skilled players. Skilled players seek eachother out because they want somone they can lean on. PUG's that suck aren't because they're random, its because the players in them are bad. There are plenty of pugs we've played that have been very impressive, and we've actually learned a thing or two from. Clearly from the accurate statistics you've read, you can read the whole picture though right?
Not feasible. Alt tabbing from lobby to look someone up will more than likely cause a crash. I think they should implement a W/L record in the lobby so that you have some idea of the caliber you are playing with.
So there's no reason to hide it. "Just so you know, we're on vent." That's an extremely crucial piece of information to the people on the opposite side who probably AREN'T ON VENT. Of course you don't want to tell them this, you have a massive advantage going in that they don't. They might leave. You don't want that.
It sure as hell does! I play VERY differently if I know that hero next to me is controlled by someone I know. I will be more aggressive because I know they will gank with me, and they will cover me as I flee and won't bail at the first opportunity. You are far more cautious if you don't know whether that Sedna is going to heal you or not. Assuming she will has bitten me and innumerable others.
How anyone can deny knowing the mannerisms of the people on their team gives them an advantage is insane to me.
...What? If the other team is equal in skill (and not using vent) you won't be badly beaten. If the other team is equal in skill, and a premade, and using vent then you will get rolled.
And witholding that information prevents people from making an informed decision - but that's what you wanted, right?
You're whole arguement is moot, becuase the host also has no idea if the other side is a premade. When people ask, I tell them, thats it.
Premades don't join games, they make them.
Most of the time. So the odds are greatly against that happening.
Again, what is the harm in telling them? If you do, they can't bitch at you about it. But then they might leave instead, so no easy win.
PUG player myself chiming in. My only beef with the whole premade deal is when you ask outright if their a premade/friend team and they lie and say they aren't. Its just a game I guess so do what you want but I think thats a load of crap right there.
If you guys want to play with friends or clanmates thats fine, at least don't be shady and deny it when people ask. I personally don't even bother asking anymore, I just look up everyone on the pantheon db to see if their pug or not.
For the OP, you asked "where did one establish that because people are friends you're automatically at an instant disadvantage?". You can only assume you are at a disadvantage when you are playing with people you do not know but your opponent is playing with people he does know. Yeah sometimes its the wrong assumption but more often than not, it is the correct one. Never mind the fact you can prove what kind of disadvantage you may have by checking the pantheon db.
Why are these people playing custom games when they're given the choice to join all random matchup games? Why do I need to go out of my way for a group of people who choose to go agains the grain in ignorance?
I really hope to see a ranked premade team ladder or something...that would probably solve a lot of this because premades tend to enjoy competition that they can get recognition for in the form of "rank" or stats or w/e
Because skirmish and pantheons are matching uneven matchups, AIs, non-Conquest game mode, random maps, and not keeping track of statistics? It's not the solution right now.
I was playing 4v4 with 1 friend on sunday night and the other 2 were randoms every time and Angry Salamander jumps in the game and calls us premade f****ts. Seriously now, is this stuff necessary? I just booted him and his buddy for being dicks.
