I just felt that I should be the first one to tell you.
Grammatical impotence and adulation of a child molester, whatever next...
Best party breaker in town above in reply #76... forgive or forget -- your choice Fuzzy!
I totally missed this earlier. Given the thread didn't look. Every man needs an awesome auger.
When the death of a resonable talented musician and dancer who has been ignored by most of the world for several years is considered more important that political uprisings in two countries, and another country testing the bounds of Global tolerance, it is time to panic. Oh, wait...time to start building the Escape Pod to Mars, I guess.
Recheck your history lessons. Music and art of all forms have been important during many historical events. Art, all forms, is something that will always be celebrated and acknowledged and created when turmoil is happening and, in somecases, because turmoil is happening. I don't care what you think of MJ, but it's pretty silly to think that the world is only allowed to focus on two major events and nothing else. On a side note, yeah MJ coverage was overdone. And your use of "reasonable" is pretty off too.
Stand up for your rights or...
1) Be repressed by a totalitarian regime in the streets of Teheran.
2) Be ousted from presidency by a bunch of militarized freaks in Honduras. (Putsch, btw)
3) Be under attack by China & others for threatening the stability of the entire South East Asia with tricky missiles launched from North Korea.
4) Be surrounded by arabs in the middle-east and stack enough of a nuclear arsenal (also) to blast them all to hell if the neighborhood becomes too unstable by foreign interventions.
Turmoils, you say?
Entertainers help us forget and forgive. Or somehow convince (by some strange lucky coincidence) anyone before it's too late even for regrets.
My problem isn't about how i perceive reality or express opinions about current events, it's that i can't find where the streets have no name (U2).
You want international leverage? Start talking or singing Peace.
Spread the word around, the rat is leaving town, the message is a song, the misery is gone. (Deep Purple In Rock - written & sang by Jon Lord in the early 70's when cold war conditions brought us to the brink of extinction, near the edge, off the scale, juggling with power ungry acrobatics, )
While the G8 gathers to evaluate who has the most of anything.
You want to survive? Listen well.
I say reasonable because I never liked his music, but I know people do, and when the Media is focused much more on the Michel Jackson's death (despite the media ignoring him for sometime, and one of his latest concerts tours being cancelled due to low ticket sales. I also noted how many people that had nearly been calling for every thing short of his head on a stake were suddenly saying he was one of the greatest people on earth.) then on enything else. But after the actions of the many new agencies last week, no, I don't think you can focus on more then one thing. Sure, otherthings were mentioned, but hardly focused on.
Here's a thought, try getting your news from other sources than the big 3 USA broadcasters. This date and age, the choices are endless. Also, MJ's music isn't the only thing he gave to music. He did a lot of things that people like you take for granted today. The way he did music videos, not just the content, the sounds he used... all being used by today's new artist. You don't have to like MJ. You don't have like his music. You can certainly be agitated with the over coverage but don't be ignorant about what he gave to the music industry just on the technique level and claim it was a "reasonable" contribution, and the only people calling him a saint, are die hard fans. Every celebrity has those.
I said something like that, first page, second reply, but noone seemed to care.
Yeah, I like that approach. Let's all write happy songs. I'm sure that Ahmadinejad and China and Kim Jong-il are just waiting for the perfect happy song to realize just how happy they are and how much they love others. I'm sure a nice music broadcast to Pakistan and India will make them so happy they'll just hug each other.
Thank god this is contained to forums.
what he gave to the music industry just on the technique level and claim it was a "reasonable" contribution, and the only people calling him a saint, are die hard fans. Every celebrity has those.
Makes sense. Problem is, most people don't care enough to look past what's easy. When you can flip on the TV and go straight to a news network, why expend effort to go a little farther and get news from other sources. That's why it's imperative that those news sources be nonbiased and as all-encompassing as possible.
Then again, that's nothing more than a pipe-dream at this point.

I don't watch American News. I'm Canadian, and even up here Jackson dominated the national/provinsal news. And I never said he did nothing useful.
Bottom line is this:
Michael Jackson was a singer and a performer. He entertained millions through his music.
That.
Is.
All.
He was not a philanthropist. He may have donated much of his money, sure, but he left himself millions of dollars in debt. He had a multimillion dollar ranch. He regularly rented hundred thousand dollar rental homes for simple monthly use. He was buried in a 10,000 dollar gold leaf casket.
He did not break down color barriers. He is not the reason there are black basketball players. He did not raise 'awareness' (such a ridiculous term) about racism. If he was so concerned about advancing the fortunes of the black community, why did he ruin his own face trying to be white, and then go drastic steps to have white children?
He did not affect world peace. He may have gone on a tour to promote peace, but that in no way affected the state of affairs of the world.
He is to be missed as an entertainer. Granted his fifteen minutes as per his death. Not glorified for someone he was not. Not paraded about and made into a saint.
That is all.
And really, as a society, we need Speakers for the Dead. Honestly.
Bless M.J
Heard the very latest figures?
Estimates stand at 3.5 billions in solid cash, in sealed & protected banks. Sony Corporation owns at least half of that amount by contracts.
Some lawyers will be busy over the next few months if not years, just to summarize property from facts.
Why do we care that MJ is dead when aliens are bombing london to the ground?! What? Didnt you see that on the news?
According to the latest SNL news.....MJ is still dead.
Glenn Beck beat them to that punch. He was lacing his program with breaking news of that while actually talking about the relevant things that were happening that day.
Naaa -- it'd have already spread on (at least) YouTube by the time the above replies stirred any attention from DrWho in a cabin.
Ooopppss, phone just rang. It's an Alien and here's what "it" said...

What's the truth; accidental overdose(s) of some medication or murder?
Trust your doctors, they'll help you sleep i heard.
His death was schocking (to some) but this investigation has frighteningly become mysterious to the point Coroner's results would finally reveal how much health care can cost (or add up, btw) in LA, California, USA.
It's even rumored that neglect or malpractices were involved.
Fact or fiction?
