I thought we were getting along so well... you would bring your Oak in for a surprise flag party.. I would port in and beat you down... I thought we had something going...
Then suddenly you left the game.. 2 or 3 seconds after getting killed... was it me? Was I just making up all that chemistry...?I'll be here when you are ready...
*sniff*
So many of my newfound friends leave the same way...
I don't think it's really necessary to call out specific people on the forums
"Bad form, Peter, bad form!"
There's something called Craigslist Missed Connections for this sort of thing- the Demigod forums are not the place.
Hi. This isn't dota, please stop bragging about people leaving. On behalf of the Demigod forums. Shut your face.
Thanks.
hehe. pretty funny how you wrote that.
I have to say it can be really annoying if someone just leaves, because he gets killed once. One death doesn't mean you will lose.
But in some situations I will just leave the game, mostly when playing with idiots that have never heard of teamplay.
Man, some people have no sense of humor geez lighten up a little.
Anyway, I was on Mauxe's team yesterday in the game with mrjonnynoir. The opposition wasn't doing a bad job. I think they killed me once and maybe another team mate. We killed mrjonnynoir once early and then around level 6-7 he went alone to one of our portals to capture it ( this is on cataract ). I teleported down, our Rook was close so he joined in the fun. myjonnynoir's team mate ( Unclean Beast ) teleported down to the now captured flag to support and was doing a good job causing me to have to retreat at 40% health and then Mauxe joins the fray coming from the 15% health flag to cut off mrjonynoir's retreat. mrjonnynoir dies and immediately quits. What does mrjonnynoir expect? "Hey, I'm going to jump down and capture the other teams portal flag and no one is going to oppose me but if I die that's it! This other team must be cheating!" Has he never heard of a teleport scroll? His teammates were doing a good job, especially the UB and it was a back and forth fight the whole time.
Itt's just plain unsportsman like. His quit caused another one of this teammates to quit and left their poor UB to fend for himself. It was lame. He singlenhandedly ruined the game or his team mates so yeah, maybe he deserves a little calling out.
Agreed, completely.
This.
Stardock/GPG need to do something about it, until then it's a waste of time moaning. I've had rage quits in about my last 3 games, that's a lot of forum posts if I brag about every one.
I think you should, but write it in a cunningly quirky disguise that doesn't seem like a moan.
Another polarizing moment of humor.
@TheMystic - I was going for the similar feel of a Craigslist posting. I think I nailed it.
@Aviyur - I have not ever played, nor even seen, dota. I apologize if my post offends in any way. It is merely a humorous outlet to a frustrating situation. While I can see where it looks like bragging the truth is that people sometimes quit when their own actions don't end up as planned. Our game was close AND fun until this moment. Nobody, myself included, was dominating more than anybody else. Suddenly we went from "tense and fun" to "hm".
@pseudomelon - I somewhat agree. I do not think that it is necessary to call individuals out on the forums, yet I also don't believe that it is wrong to do so. A recent Journal entry tells us that an update to the game will include a displayed disconnect percentage. That same entry specifically states the obvious truth that people with high percentages will be dropped from games (by other players) as well as to be given a lower priority (by the game) for Skirmish and Pantheon games. This is a call out.
Also I would like to point out that the forums actually are a place to post anything from observations to strategies to personal experiences to technical issues. Posting something like this in the Craigslist Missed Connections would be pointless. (almost)Nobody there would appreciate the humor or be able to provide their own spin - positive or negative. That's the beauty of having a specific community.
Finally: to mrjohnynoir - I WILL play with or against you again should the situation arise. However, if your d/c percentage gets too high...
Ah no worries dude, i spent too much time on other game forums that I took your post to be a generic whine about rage quitting, my bad. That and I have a different sense of humor to you
"Hall of Shame" thread is evidence enough that this kind of thing DOES belong on the forums.
I agree completely that moaning on the forums won't change anything and I will be the last to put up a B%$#@/whine post.
Last night I just had this funny image in my head of a random personals listing and I ran with it.
Please also be aware that he may have been disconnected being as the game doesn't say Player Has Quit compared to Player Has Been Disconnected. I play with a few friends and they'll get disconnected from time to time. It's kinda funny to see the other team yell out at the "ragequit" even though we know his computer just crashed. But you never know maybe this guy did quit.
Funny post. Nailed the style of Craig's list.
~Lowered Expectations~
It's a funny post... obviously it would be extremely annoying if everybody complained about every single rage quit experience, but at least this is thought out and entertaining.
Also, I'm not sure what you expect Stardock/GPG to do to keep people from quitting a game that you are playing. What exactly do you propose?
Frogboy had a possible solution over here: http://forums.demigodthegame.com/356654/page/2 but that functionality is not due out until v 1.8
"While I look forward to the day that I can send goons over to people's houses to rough them up for being obnoxious, that time has not yet come."
Rage quit results in the inability to play online again for at least 15minutes and a % loss of your "exp points" in the tournament standings. Ofc they'd have to fix the irritating loading bug and tournaments stats first =/
dont brag about beating players of a lesser skill.
See
It already does that. Impulse bugs out and can't connect with your name and password! Somehow I don't think it's a feature though.
