I wish for a pepperoni pizza made in the regular fashion, ie not radioactive or whatever, baked to perfection, made of regualr ingrediants. and of regualr 14 inch diameter. To be placed on a plate on a table in my kitchen.
Just as you try to eat it an earthquake rips apart your house/whatever, the pizza falls into a hole thats goes 30 kms below the earth, so you follow it and end up finding an underground city where they have started thinking the pizza was a message from god. you try and take it and they take you to a reeducation center.

I wish that we weren't so dangerously close to the 9 Billion people that the world can hold... what happens when we exceed the population cap of the Earth? Who is to say who stays and who must go to allow others to stay?
Mass famine/war will decide that for us, mostly for remaining resources (as long ago mentioned, 'Oil Wars'). You'll probably die around the third month of the second.

Anyway, granted. America is LESS FAT, and is winning the Cold War EPICLY thanks to our economy... we're the only country that can both produce and counter Stealth Technology, so even if it was still around, we'd have won w/ the advent of the B-2 and F-22.

I wish Australia was the most powerful country on the planet.
Granted.... we're in the aftermath of a nuclear war, and the only reason Australia is still around is because the US's most recently developed Missile Defense system was on an Aircraft Carrier stationed oustide of Darwin, which shot down all the missiles.
I wish that ScramJets could be used in Warfare, OR that the Aurora project was real.
It is real (really), but like NASA, it wasted money and didn't receive enough to recover and finish the job.
