We get two for free anyway, so the starting roster is 10 demigods.
Let's assume for the sake of argument that:
Also, we all enjoy the game.
In the hopes that GPG isn't abandoning Demigod in favor of supcom2 or something else, how willing are you to fork over your cash in order to get more DGs of a quality similar to the original ones ?
(US-Dollars. Assume the dollar remains stable.)
Note: According to GPG according to a comment, the development of a new Demigod from scratch is supposed to cost GPG $100,000 (source: he-said-he-said-they-said). It will certainly get cheaper if GPG streamlines their efforts to generate new DG content, but even so they have to earn money.
Acceptable price for new demigods:
Also, what would be the most sensible way to release the new creations ?
Release format for new Demigods:
Updated Current result (#141):
Surprisingly this thread got revived and offered nearly 20 new identifyable votes.
Like always, the current result required a bit of an interpretation effort on my part: For example, a decent sized expansion gets interpreted as 4 demigods and a full expansion as demigods, however phrased.
The dislike of the downloadable-content model persists. Although it's not quite clear to me what the factual difference is between a 4-DG DLC for 5$ per DG and an expansion pack containing 4 DGs for 20$-25$. I suppose it's the fear of the legendary "horse-armor".

Hmmm, $9 for new demigods every 2 months would (in my small opinion) end up making you look bad in the long run. The only way you could charge anything for them is if it was a decently sized collection of new content, OR cheap enough for the small dribble now and then.
I love this game, I would pay for new demigods, I do not think $9 for 2 is going to help this game. At that rate, doubling the number of demigods in our arsenal would more than double the price of the original game even. Do yourselves a community-respect favor, dont become EA.
Not to mention it would take at least 10months after the first 2 demigods are released to have a total of 20 demigods. That's if they stay on schedule. GPG needs to green light Frogboy's suggestions and the community needs those mods tools now if this game is going to remain competitive and in the mind/hearts of the community.
There will be new content for this game???? Or are we just getting everyones hopes up again?
it is a more of a when there will be it was suppost to be a while ago personaly i would go with the 30th of august
Hey would anyone agree with me that it would be pretty cool if we could continue our Level and Equiptment? Instead of restarting everytime and maybe making it alittle more difficult if they do so
gunna have to disagree sorry. if you like leveling there is always MMOs for that
hmm stacked i think he was taking about the in match equipment so that if u have first lvl armor instead of buying new armor u can upgrade ur old
$5 for groups of 4 (one of each type), maybe for Light/Dark pairs with maps.
ZERO.
If you think that 8 demigods is enough for a game as repetitive as this and feel the need to charge money for more demigods, then I feel the need to tell everyone to wait for Heroes of Newerth and never buy a Stardock game again. NEXT THREAD.
HoN == DotA.
I don't want to play DotA.
hmm i liked savage so ill try out hon but at this rate demigod will be down the toilet before it gets here
Imho this game is incomplete and full of bugs. I was lucky not to buy it when he was released. Still this game crushes, blocks the pc sometimes and also from time to time one gets that msg: invalid username/password and you have to quit the game, wait 1-2 minutes and then get in again.
For a game that has no single player campaign, no story and a lot of small and big issues I think I payed enough. So if in the next patch: bugs are fixed, we get 2-3 more maps and 2 demigods I will be satisfied by the money I spent.
If the next add-on (it should be an add-on, because i'd rather wait 1 year to get a good and balanced game than get small pieces of it that will be full of problems) will include at least 4 new demigods, at least 4 new maps, new items, new creep models (light and dark should be different) i think I will pay like 20-25$ MAX.
Details are very important so: why not make the light archers more powerful than the dark ones and dark melee stronger then the light ones. etc...small things that make a difference. There are many things that can make this game better but I won't discuss them here.
Cheers
ive said this so many times now this game is going down the toilet
i agree also with krabu
But you'd rather play Demigod, the game with very little strategy, low variation between maps, lots of utterly useless items, very bad support from the developers, no dynamic features on any of the maps, bad balancing, a community with a complete aversion to teamwork and to top it off a community with a very bad average skill-level?
While I was never much of a fan of DoTA when I played it, and I realise HoN is very near identical gameplay and design-wise to DoTA, I am still enjoying HoN 100x more than I ever enjoyed DoTA because it has one important thing, polish. And while I like Demigod, HoN currently has so much more polish than Demigod, yet it is currently in a god damn beta.
I preordered Demigod last year, and I'm happy to stick with it for the time being. I think it has a decent amount of strategy to it when the matchups are close, though admittedly this happens less often than I'd like. The maps are varied enough, even if I don't like some of them (Exile). HoN has the DotA map and one other, I see no reason why this is any better.

All things that mean my stay here will be short, and fair comments, but I won't be moving to HoN or LoL, I'll just play more TF2.
What I'd really like is for someone to make something similar to Fallout Tactics multiplayer, though without the massive problems that game suffered from. I think deep hero customisation is an interesting concept, and that's what GPG have gone for. The problem is as you say, half the items are useless, which indirectly means a bunch of the skills are useless, and a bunch of the skills are poor anyway, while others are indispensable.
If you seriously think people would, enmass, pay 5 dollars for 1 Demigod, you are living in la-la land. Release 10 new demigods and people would spend as much money as a brand new game? Open your eyes, no way people would spend that much for just new characters. Especially when the game is plagued with bugs and missing features. (HoN has a reconnect feature if you crash or get dropped, Demigod doesn't. HoN also doesn't lag miserably when one person in the game has a laggy connection or a slow computer. That puts HoN way ahead)
You may not like the gameplay but the features of HoN are way better. Worry about fixing Demigod before you worry about charging for new DG units.
QFT.
Because the game has enough balance issues when one person starts feeding, let alone when the enemy starts 5 levels higher than you.
hmm HoN it is developed by a mmo company right who made savage games
GPG is a stratergy game company i believe
demigod is close to a mmorpg then any other types of games
FREE!!!! and they should add more maps along with them as well...
Here is my reasoning.... if they charge, only players who currently have the game would even be interested in buying them, and all new players, when they see another expansion that costs $$$$ will be turned away from purchasing this game. (Lets face it, people are C H E A P.)
But if they put all new content in patches for free (demigods, maps, etc.) then all they do is improve the game, making it better and more fun, and can increase game sales by drawing new players in to a great game.
Yes, I think free would work
Didn't you sign an NDA to play HoN?
We're free to talk about the game now.
Well in that case... HoN chat/friend lists are above and beyond better, the stress test weekend seemed to go off flawlessly, Demigod is in serious trouble. I don't care what all the Dota haters have to say, I love both games but facts are facts. Demigod needs more free content now, if it ever hopes to stand a chance of lasting.
-edit-
Shade: Mind sending me a PM w/ a link of where it sez it's cool to chat about HoN outside of their forums? I'd hate to get myself into trouble here.
