We get two for free anyway, so the starting roster is 10 demigods.
Let's assume for the sake of argument that:
Also, we all enjoy the game.
In the hopes that GPG isn't abandoning Demigod in favor of supcom2 or something else, how willing are you to fork over your cash in order to get more DGs of a quality similar to the original ones ?
(US-Dollars. Assume the dollar remains stable.)
Note: According to GPG according to a comment, the development of a new Demigod from scratch is supposed to cost GPG $100,000 (source: he-said-he-said-they-said). It will certainly get cheaper if GPG streamlines their efforts to generate new DG content, but even so they have to earn money.
Acceptable price for new demigods:
Also, what would be the most sensible way to release the new creations ?
Release format for new Demigods:
Updated Current result (#141):
Surprisingly this thread got revived and offered nearly 20 new identifyable votes.
Like always, the current result required a bit of an interpretation effort on my part: For example, a decent sized expansion gets interpreted as 4 demigods and a full expansion as demigods, however phrased.
The dislike of the downloadable-content model persists. Although it's not quite clear to me what the factual difference is between a 4-DG DLC for 5$ per DG and an expansion pack containing 4 DGs for 20$-25$. I suppose it's the fear of the legendary "horse-armor".

Personally I'm actually willing to pay the original price of the game again for a fully fledged expansion.
But i'd prefer them to release them in smaller packages and keep them coming, so my vote is:
5-2
5$(would also willingly pay more than double this but you didn't list that) as soon as each individual Demigod is ready.
What can I say, I'm impatient and the more money I pay the more they can spend on improving the game. 5$ isn't very much at all considering all the detail in the current Demigods, which I would assume would be in the new ones also.
EDIT : We're talking about US $ right?
2 at a time, 1 light 1 dark.
technically i only spend 25 bucks on this game(due to 50% coupon for friend) so i am still happy to pay another 75 bucks for at least 20 more demigods.
what can i say, i like variety , and im cheap ahah!
$0, they should come for free with updates. I dont agree with todays industy of rushing games out the door with less content than games used to have and then charging for it. Expansions are okay if done correctly, meaning they provide new and exciting content equal to their vaule in money, but not something that should have been in the game from the start.
You get two for free with updates. How are Stardock going to collect enough revenue to fund the new DGs if people don't pay for them?
Though TBH I don't think we need more DGs, I think we need more 3v3 maps. One with 3 lanes would be nice .
$5 for paired introductions if I'm forced though.
+1
5 € / $ is a fair price for new demigods and maps.
its high enough to make the support profitable for GPG
and low enough to make it payable for most gamers !
I would prefere "single releases" because we would get the new stuff faster.....and thats good for the community, espacially for our tortured patience !
Please don't turn this into one of the dozens of others rants against SD/GPG. We all know how and what they fucked up, so I specifically stated that we should assume that everything is okidoki for the sake of this survey.
And developing completely new Demigods will cost time, effort and therefore money. Ok, admittedly we have examples where stellar product support takes place without any charge at all (looking at Blizzard here), but even they take money for additional content. And DotA heroes require quite less manhours to develop than a Demigod of the quality we know and apreceate.
So 0$ for new content is economically impossible.
I updated the op to your suggestions.
Considering that we payed 40$ for the entire game I'd say maybe...
3$ per Demigod and they should come as soon as they're ready
Why wasn't it 5 years ago?
My stance is, I will not pay on a per-demigod basis. I want a boxed expansion to buy, that actually does what its name suggests. This "buy horse-armor for 5$"-nonsense is completely retarded. Really.
Because animation software still relies on too much hand input, while the vertex counts and texture detail have risen dramatically in accordance with GPU power. This means there is a lot more work to do now than there was.
Or put another way, beacuse it looks a hell of a lot better it takes a lot longer to make!
You can't just make a static model and press go and it will walk. We're getting closer though.
(GPG said it costs them about $100.000 to make a new demigod from scratch, do the math...)
I'd prefer larger bundles though, maybe 4 demigods and 8 new maps for $20 or $25? It would be easier to distribute and manage and I don't like all that fiddeling around with PayPal for $5 each time.

yeah, i remember the horsearmor bullshit from oblivion ... i can't believe they thought anyone would waste their money on that crap.
But new demigods are on a whole different level than, say, a clown nose for rook.
I'll put you down for X-4, yes ? How much $ for an expansion ?
@Aroddo: I don't think he was denouncing Stardock for their actions here but simply saying that a number of companies today, epsecially on consoles, take advantage of their delivery platform to do what feels like to us as consumer,s purposefully sealing off data that is actually already on the disc(!!) and charging us for what is essentially a "key" to unlock the data.
Namco did this with Beautiful Katamari on 360.
EA launched The Sims 3 with USD $250 in buyable parts off to the side! A launch day game with NO expansions already had $250 in downloadable content! Why couldn't that have simply been added to the game? And to make it worse, EA has withheld custom content creastors from the community.
THAT is the source of foul business play that the writer is exclaiming against, not Stardock's trend of excellent support.
EDIT: To stay on topic, I dislike "Piecemeal" expansions as well. If you'd like to sell me new demigods instead of simply adding the content to the game... and I woukld heavily preferyou just add it to the game, then I expect a real expansion pack at the traditional expansion pack price: USD $19.99. But for that, I would expect Demigod, maps, a new game mode, possibly new items and artifacts, the whole shebang.
If you want to get a large chunk of content all at once in an expansion pack, you're going to have to wait longer. There is nothing stopping stardock from pursuing both models, with the collective paid DLC becoming an expansion pack at some point. If you don't want to pay for the DLC early then don't but the advantage it has over expansion packs is it can get to market faster by being only a smaller part of a larger product.
That may be but in the end it's just a demigod.
Regarding the price, amount, frequency and content of expansions I'll just point at Guild Wars.
i wouldn't pay a piece of mud untill they fix the game. It's unstable and connectivity issues make it frustrating to play.
If the game would work i'd pay 20e for decent 8demigod 8 maps exp
i agree with raw
since the hard part creating an engine was already done. Putting models/animations and stats in are considerably less work then making the game.
after 2/4 free ones
1$/per demigod
Interesting marketing idea. But no,not one damn cent would i pay for a new demigod.Somehow such ideas are horrible, and are aimed at making the most ammount of money with the least ammount of effort.
It is the same as when buying your car that constantly"crashes" and is"bugged" like hell, the representative from the car company would make you an offer for parts. You payed full money for that car,no matter, you will have to pay double or even tripple price to get an actual working car in the state that it should have been in the first place.
In my opinion i would accept free demiogds as an apology for the weeks of frustration and crashes and bugs that the game caused. But pay for them? it is like adding injury to insult,or insult to injury..whichever suits you best
The first 2-4 Demigods are going to be free. After that, it's your choice on whether to pay for extra content or not.
It's a bit hard to correctly put some of your answers into the corresponding given choices, but I tried my best:

Right now we can conclude that the vote is inconclusive. However it looks like we want more and are willing to pay something for it.
I expect a fair amount of free content from the developers until there is a modkit released for the game. After that point I would still expect some free content, but not nearly as much since the community would be producing a fair amount.
Expansions should not be the price of a new game, especially if they aren't offering at least as much content as the original game itself.
Basically, I'd be willing to spend a few dollars on new demigods and maps... but this would be after several have been released already.
I would pay for an expansion pack. I don't care much for the idea of buying demigod "singles". Make an expansion with a couple heroes and some maps and Ill fork over my $20-30 bucks.
An ideal expansion to me, would be, 4 Demigods and 6 maps. For that I would pay 30 bucks.
i would be willing to pay around 10 dollars for 2 demi's, and some new maps, items.
but only if it's good stuf, no rushed crap, like the first fallout 3 expansion...
