I'm living in the EU, and one thing I have to say is that in the current state, proxies are utterly useless.
If one guy can't connect to another, they both get 350+ ping on each other. I understand how proxies work, and as long as there will be no proxies set up in the EU, we'll get things like that.
As of now, anyone connecting to my games with a proxy will be kicked. It's not the smartest move, but at least it ensure a non stuttering game for everyone else.
Oh and only until this is fixed
I believe in the most recent update, the location logic was added so that the proxies in both Europe and in Australia are able to be used. Wait until you've updated your game, and then give it a whirl.

the proxies! they do nothing!
Working fine for me now. Getting 70-80ms to fellow Europeans. Pretty fantastic. Also, whatever fiddly stuff they did to the package sizes in the latest patch seems to have eliminated my need to use the proxies.
So, great! Now we can all start bitching about the obviously missing stuff, like lobby ranking & disconnect% info, targetable icons for self & allies, a way to disable - no, make that delete - the Thing That Should Not Have Been, aka AI, actual pathfinding instead of the pixel-I-can-get-stuck-on-finding, proper favour and ranking calculation, and so on...
So lucky Silk23, Even with DMZ, /serverproxyonly and no Firewall or Virus Scanner I still get NAT failed message
If you're still having issues as of last night's patch, please contact support@stardock.com so they can gather as much info as possible and (if need be) put you in contact with the devs to try and pinpoint the issue and test possible solutions.
