HiI've played Demigod for 3 weeks and I greatly enjoy the battles which are always different. Great game and I'm having lots of fun.1) Too much Stunn in the game; there's just too much stunn going on, get 2 demigods on you at a higher level your as good as dead, won't move at all, just stunned all the time. The Rook is greatly underpowered at higher levels compared a few of the demigods, Unclean Beast, Lord Erebus and the Oak need to be balanced a bit down. Lord Erebus HP is insane plus he can move in and out at will.2) Character gets stuck on corners quite a lot.3) NAT issue seems to be getting a lot better, thanks for working on this.4) Great potential in the game, more chars probably to come, more abilities and potentially new Quests for super items etc.5) Battle on a small map is about 15-30 min long, exactly what a casual gamer needs to fill the quota.6) Runs quite well on a laptop.7) Shouldn't kill Steam's overlay.
8) Still not dominated by teenagers with too much time on their hands.
== Overall great game, great potential and a great company whom I feel really wants to produce quality games and if they keep it like with SINS then I'll be playing this game for a long time, I'm still playing SINS Thanks,Simon
The game definitively has some serious long term potential. The gameplay is truly great, best multiplayer game I've played in a long time. And plus, there's really no other game like this out there.
I totally agree with you, especially on #1 and #2
Stardock and GPG are my favorite companies! I am not good with RTS games, or that much familiar. I am of a FPS breed. But ever since Supreme Commander, I’ve been hooked. Now I own Sins and Demigod; Loyal to the core with these guys. So far, I have nothing but praise and love for them. I know how hard it is to be a developer/publisher (not counting the politics and social upheaval they have to endure). Please everyone, show support (financial or otherwise). We help them entertain us! Demigod will grow, as long as, we (as a community) show support by playing and gaining Favor.
I agree with everything except 1.
The fact that two demigods can kill you when you're by yourself SHOULD be the case. If you could escape out of every battle you got into, then nobody would ever die. The key is knowing where you're opponents are, communicating with your teammates, and making sure you're the ones surrounding the enemy for a "gank", not the other way arround.
Erebus' HP actually isn't any naturally higher than other DGs, you've probably just played against Erebus' that have stacked HP. I've played many games as Rook where I've been a powerhouse late game, and when you throw in a teammate who can help crowd control during hammers then you really see his true potential.
Honestly, I play all 8 Demigods fairly evenly and I wouldn't say that any one of them is "overpowered" over another. The part where the balance comes in is certain combinations of Demigods being overpowered when working together, but I think every DG in the game currently has the potential for that.
Never engage a fight when you are outnumbered. Many players make that mistake and they die each time (and after a while it becomes a little wee bit infuriating), and it is totally normal that you can't take on 2 other demigods of your level.
Many new players think that the game is not balanced at all but if they play a little more, they see that they are totally wrong.
yes the pathfinding sucks sometimes, but since you only have a handfull of units to control, it is not such a big deal.
I agree on everything else.
The only balance problem I have is Oak+a certain item, and that's mostly a problem in 1v1/2v2 games.
The stunning stuff is fine with me.
The pathfinding in general is atrocious. If I had killed a kitten for every enemy I didn't kill because of the truckloads of suck and fail that is DG pathfinding, there would be a negative number of felines in the world. Annoying doesn't begin to describe it.
Connectivity is vastly improved, but as a European it kind of sucks the proxies are in the US. Nobody on my continent wants to play me because they all assume 350ms ping times, no matter how stable, means lag. Also, the proxy stuff really, really needs to be explained better. Skirmish and pantheon games are a nightmare of people dropping right now, most of which probably could be averted if they only knew about the proxies.
Super items: no thanks. I prefer winning/losing based on my relative skill, not the kind of items the players have access to.
Match length: it would be cool if XP/gold for DG kills could be reduced slightly on larger maps with few players. Right now those types of games tend to get decided fairly early, which means a lot of not-so-interesting play time - and that sort of defeats the purpose of those types of matches.
The rest I'm in full agreement with. Though it would be nice if the lobby displayed player rank & disconnect%, and nicer still if it was possible for one and both sides to concede/end the match. One side because sometimes it's obvious who'll win when victory's still a good 10 mins away. Both sides because sometimes people drop, for whatever reason, and it would make it easier/nicer to get a rematch going.
Also, AI. Seriously. The one in the game now makes the Space Empires 5 AI look clever (hint: it hasn't got any to speak of). I honestly don't recall ever having seen anything quite as bad. IF it can't be fixed, perhaps it would be possible to not have the AI take over players who drop? A DG doing absolutely nothing is far preferable to one that feeds the enemy.
Some other things that would be nice:
Proper chat, voice chat, group/clan and scheduling support in Impulse, with an in-game overlay for Demigod & Impulse games or games in general.
Tools to develop levels, demigods, items and whatnot, and a system to check out what's good and what's not so good, so the good stuff can make it into the game in general. Maybe an incentive of some sort for high ranked players to playtest stuff in special non-ranked matches?
Stuns own you ive you get jumped by a 2v1 sitatuation however if you see one coming you should get the hell away from it unless you have tower support or something that'll discourage them chasing you too aggressively.
