I would like to hear your ideas for different planet and star types. I am making a mod called Galactic Sins which is the ultimate planet and star mod. I would like to see at least 100+ planet types and 15+ star types.
The rules:
No planets that are already in another mod
Post any idea that you think is good
If you want you may post a picture or a texture that you have already made. You will get full credit.
Well... between Sins Plus and 7DS (for which I gave ideas for planets), there is not much left...
Something I don't think exists though would be Cybernetic... In other words, a planet that is manmade and may or may not be covered in dirt to make it look normal... If you designed a new ability, you could create a death star planet with something similar to the Novalith to destroy enemy planets, or at least devastate them...
Alot of the most basic and popular ideas are already in other mods (ocean, forest etc.), but you could always make your own versions. And 100+ planets is alot of textures to make, are you're enough of a texture editor to do it?
Well I already have permission to use the Celestial Bodies mod and a few others are pending plus Ive already got some being made as we speak.
Well, here are some of my ideas, and I don't know if they have been used before:

That would be cool... More importantly, you could actually do it... Just make a researchable structure with an ability that would be like the cloaking ability and then have it use it on its host planet. The antimatter cost would be huge and it would only be temporary, but would be an awesome last line of defense while waiting for the cavalry to arrive...
Magnetar....huge star with an enormous magnetic field
Could possibly have an enormous grav well but players would have to navigate manually to avoid the gravity of the massive star.
Could also have true fog of war in the grav well. Meaning only a limited Line of Sight instead of the entire grav well because the star interrupts sensor systems.
Lovely way to tie up a couple fleets. Of course, since the Vasari get Phase Stabilizers, they can get out... but TEC and Advent are screwed. Xanatos gambit time...
Need a couple more shifted-to-a-particular-race planets... hm...
TEC - Industry? perhaps an econ planet. If race is TEC (use a researchable technology like in the MadSci mod), Resource+, Trade+, Population+, Ship production+, Cost of everything lowered, Logistics+,
Advent - Culture, maybe... If race is Advent, base and max Shield mitigation +15% (in line with the sheer overpowered-ness of the Vasari Planet)

That would be awesome! I think Ill make it a structure though, maybe a tier 8 researchable in the defencive tree. The only way to shut it down is to destroy the structrue maybe?

What do you guys think of this, a double star, two stars that orbit each other. Or maybe one could be small and orbit the other like a moon. Like Phalanx's avatar:

also, what about this: (sorry that i cant remember what they are called) a large (perhapes several times the normal size of a star) star that is actually a dome around a star. These have a name, i just cant remember it.
Also, how about a star GOING super nove, it wouldnt be a true nove, as it would simply stay the same size and all, but if there was a star in the process of going nove, with severe damage around said star, that could be an awesome choke point.
Also, what about a planetary collision planet? As in, two or more planets collided, but neither was large enough to destroy the other, and they simply merged, and after a lot of time now have an atmosphere?
Also, how about a dark planet? As in, it is no longer rotating, and as such has died.
Or how about an exploding planet? Obviously, this wouldnt be colonizeable, but it could look cool, and have many resource asteroids due to planetary debris.
How about a crystal planet, as in a planet that is one large lump of crystal, this could look cool.
Also, how about a planet that isnt colonizeable, but it is capturable? Kinda like the asteroids? It could maybe be an ancient research outpost, or maybe a trade station.
Or maybe more like they colided, shattering about 1/3 of each and there are now like 2 halfs of a planet with ruble everywhere

The one with the 2 suns in the background and the earth and moon colliding is what i was thinking of, as in, that ring of dirt is frozen like that.
Another idea i had, is a black hole and sun in the same grav well, meaning the gasses from the sun are being sucked into the blackhole, not sure how this would work though.

unfortunatly that cant happen, a dyson sphere has a radius of 1 AU, or 93,000,000 miles.

Also, 1 more idea: An EM planet. Appears white, emits insane amounts of x-rays and gamma rays, colonisable, adds a 3x multiplier to damage and no shield mitigation (unless advent have culture and the necessary upgrades). No population, ship production rates increaseed by 90% (built faster) and 8 logistics, 10 tactical. The perfect chokepoint.

Well... you could make it really really big... Perhaps have one mesh for the star itself and then outside that, have the sphere... I believe that the gravity well is only determined by distance from the center, rather than the outside, so it could work... You could also create an ability for it called:
Dyson Regeneration
By tapping into tremendous amounts of solar radiation absorbed by the sphere, your ships now regenerate shields and antimatter at 3x the normal rate.
Increase shield and AM regen by 3x
I would think that that would be pretty cool...

I dont know, that is a 300,000,000 kilometer diameter sphere, thats twice the distance between the earth and sun! That thing would litteraly contain the entire inner solar system! I dont even think the average computer could handle that thing without severe lagging. Let alone practicality, it would take litterally hours to cross that grav well and that would be the size of most maps!
No no no... The grav well for the star would be inside sphere... The sphere would contain multiple planets inside it and then you would have a few others on the outside... You would need a hole in it somewhere so that phase lanes could go through*, but you could do that relatively easily...
And don't make the graphics on it terribly good. So long as you do that, you shouldn't get too much lag...
Something I found when messing with my own mod is that if you get something big enough, it never goes to its little graphic. It just gets smaller and smaller. The reason is so even after it would be less than one pixel, it is still visible. This fact would make it possible to see from a glance the planets inside it as they layer over normal images...
*You could also make the equatorial region like a plasma window so that ships can go through it and still look like they are abiding by the laws of physics...

if you can add ships mabye you could add an invasion ship
it will allow you to take a planet from space without useing colony ships.what you do with it is you bombard the planet with orbital insertion pods they hit citys and marines and SPARTIAN 2's come out and take those citys and you only kill soilders.and you can use these as grat boarding ships you make them fire the pods at an enemy capatol ship and its yours.so you can take planets without haveing to recolonize them after bombardment and you can take enemy flagships.

But, in real life, that is a Nuetron Star, White Dwarf or Black hole that has attracted an accretion disk, and charged the particles due to a strong magnetic force at it's poles, and ejected them at 90% the speed of light

People would be more likely to read something that isn't just one long paragraph that is only loosely connected WITH caps LOCK every OTHER word... But, from what I can tell...
For one, the planet destruction wouldn't work... You can't destroy planets.. This is hard coded into the exe. You could have it deal 99999 damage to a planet and make it uncolonizable due to radiation however. I know that you can change the meshes of an object so if you set the bombardment radiation duration to 9999999, and had it change the mesh to an asteroid field, you could kind of get around it so for all intents and purposes, it would be dead...
Try more like a 20/30 minute cooldown. The point of antimatter is to give you a sort of MP that only makes a difference when you have something with multiple abilities or something is super short cooldown... Think of the novalith, it has a six minute cooldown but by that time, you have more AM than you need... Same thing applies here. Just have a cooldown, don't worry about AM...(Besides, planets don't have AM...)
As for the pop/grav well, that was fine...
As for the Forerunner Shards, there is already an artifact that speed up phase charging. This would make the other one pointless...

Now, just for clarification with the sphere, the star itself would be incased in the sphere which would be massive. The gravity well would go around the star but the sphere would go far beyond that to include planet(s)... Just wanted to clarify...
