This is for all those people who are getting tired of clicking everytime they start a game to skip those damn intro movies. I't not like it's hard to find the info, but i tought it would be better to have it all in one place. There are a few methods to do this:
1) right click the shortcut on your desktop and add at the end of the Target textbox the /skipintro switch ( e.g. "X:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Demigod\Bin\Demigod.exe" /skipintro). This will skip just the introduction movie.
2) right click the shortcut on your desktop and add at the end of the Target textbox the /nomovie switch ( e.g. "X:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Demigod\Bin\Demigod.exe" /nomovie). Using his will eliminate all movies in game, even the background of the menu, you'll just see a black screen and the menu.
Both of these methods work only if you start Demigod by using your desktop shortcut. For bypassing the movies when you use Impulse to launch the game, things are a little more unpleasant:
3) you have to rename/delete/move to another folder, all the following files :
a ) dg_stardock_logo.bik
b ) dg_intro.bik
c ) dg_gpg_logo.bik
d ) dg_amd_logo.bik
Those files can be found in your Demigod/Movie folder (e.g. X:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Demigod\Movies).
The main drawback of this method is that everytime Demigod gets updated, all those movie files will be downloaded again, so it'll take a little more time, depending on your download speed. The only way i know not to download the movies again is to rename the files to their original name, or to move them back to the movie folder ( if you deleted them, you have no choice but to let Impulse download them again).
Hope this helps,
crypto
... why not just add a rightclick option in impulse when starting demigod? Seems alot more user friendly to me. I dont have a desktop shortcut to demigod, I launch it from impulse.
well, if they decide to add such an option it would be great, but unfortunately you can't do that atm, i just posted the methods that work right now
Thanks for this, I'd been googling demigod command line parameters but /nomovie removed some in game stuff, /skipintro is exactly what I wanted. Thanks!
you can also add Demigod in Steam as a non-steam game, then add /skipintro to the end of the Target line.
