Over the years, some games just stick out from the crowd. Not because of a great story or innovative gameplay, but just because they have this certain style that nothing else does. My question is this: Which games would you pick?
My choices:
The Legend of Zelda series: Dueling Skeletons, traveling underwater temples, or fighting from horseback, these games never cease to feel like an epic journey.
Okami: Unique art, gameplay, music and more, this game is one of the very few I was sad to finish simply because I wanted to keep going.
The first two Command and Conquer games: Oh, come on. These games have more style in their installation than most games in their entirety. From the FMV and CG cutscenes, to the in-game art, voices, and varied units, to the awesome soundtrack, everything just fits in these games. To a lesser extant, the next three also had great style.
Oh hell yes.
I agree, surprised that one hasn't been mentioned yet. (not even by me )
Also I did a search for Grim, but didnt' find it yet. How could we forget Grim Fandango!
Magic Carpet 2. I still play that one occasionally and it still rocks the socks off of many "modern" games. What could be more stylish than surfing through the air on a... magic carpet? You can modify and play with the terrain like in no other game. Create a volvano inside the enemy castle, then toss a gravity well on it so all the lave doesn't flow out of the castle but... into it! Burn^2!
You can even download it as abandonware nowadays...
MoM, of course, and the Fallout family.
Hmmm... Populous 2! How fast can you clickclickclick...clickclickclick...clickclickclick?
MC2, MoM, and Pop2 are always installed. They just don't get old.
Few modern games can score in the style department. All we get are rehashes of old ideas with better graphics and (rarely) a better interface.
Bards Tale I
Wizardry
Fantasy General
Syndicate
I do feel a bit old now

There is hope
These guys seem to be taking it very seriously, they've approached the project from a long term point of view, instead of the usual mod development approach of whipping something up ASAP.
Team Fortress 2, the art style, the sounds bites, FULL of class
