Sins is one of the best RTS games i've ever played. and i've been more than willing to pay £25 for it. however i don't want to use impulse.
Since release i've been waiting patiently for it to come out on steam and yet there is no sign of it what so ever. even the shops are selling it dirt cheap because its been around for so long, but i've got waaaaay too many boxes and i'm only interested in buying digital versions of games since i no longer have space in the real world.
I think that everyone should have the choice to be able to buy the games that they want to buy through their provider of choice, theres plenty of them out there. I know that some prefer "Direct 2 Drive" and "Gameplay" etc and i'm sure that impulse has its fans too but me I LOVE STEAM.
Steam is my games provider of choice because i like the service, the interface etc etc etc. but thats my choice and i'm still willing to pay £25 for sins as long as its available on STEAM
so even though its available for £11.99 i'm gonna have to ignore it and continue playing other games until stardock realizes that there are tons of games who do not want a boxed copy and would their games through their digital provider of choice.
Oh, NO! Please don't do that! The company's future depends on you!! You'll ruin everything!!!!!
Your loss, buddy. Impulse is easy, safe, harmless and quick. And unlike Steam, it doesn't force you to keep it running in order play the game.
On a side note - stop trolling and go do something productive, kid.
Haha im waiting patiently for apples to grow from my orange tree
I actually just use Impulse to get the updates for Sins itself when they become available, and then play it via Steam since I always have Steam running(Add non-steam game button in the Games tab).Albeit Sins on Steam would be interesting, certainly I think it would be a much welcome boost to people who play online.
Good Luck with that. Its like saying that all valve's games should be brought out on impulse - it simply won't happen. Why should Stardock have to give up a portion of their sales when they have their own digitial distribution that is as good as Steam? - if not better (my attempts at using steam have been a headache)
Sins will probably become available on Steam around the same time, say, Left 4 Dead becomes available on Impulse.
It works both ways you know.
Also: Are you expecting Mario games to come out for the Playstation 3 or Xbox 360? System exclusives are a fact of business.
What is your point... If you don''t want to buy then don't buy it, no one is forcing you..
You do realize Impulse offers a pure digital download for sins you dont have to buy a boxed version.
I have used Steam and Impulse and D2D for buying games. Why do you think sins should pay to have someone else offer thier game for digital download when they have a working system of thier own.
i'd just buy it and if you have so little space that you cant spare room for ONE game box, its time you got some professional help.

post number 193847193 about this.
You dont want to use impuls? than you dont get to play sins, easy as that. You made your choice, why do we need to hear it?
I love your enthusiasm but I disagree. Providers will never carry all products in a certain category. Also, why can't you just throw out the box? It's pretty simple. I know you love steam and I respect that, and I too really enjoy steam, but Impulse is a great system. It's been perfect for me thus far.
I can't work out if you are trolling or just stupid.
Massive Friggin' Edit: Posted this last night and the thread looked like it had no posts in it. Immediately after I posted, the thread filled up, then vacated as soon as I navigated away.
One Hell of a bug there.
Haven't we already had a thread about this?
You know what the response will be - you haven't got a leg to stand on and its you own loss frankly.
yes i've used impulse. the point i was making is why do i have to have a dozen different download programs all installed and running just to play games.
out of all the services i chose steam because its what I LIKE - its that simple
its stupid really, a boxed copy is shipped to ANY company and ANY country reguardless of competition. But online thats a different thing....WHY? why can only certain providers stock certain games. the only ones losing out is the companies themselves by not making games available to all customers through their provider of choice.
so what if valve games don't come out on impulse its their loss for the people who don't want to use steam, is stardock stupid enough not to sell games to customers who actually are asking for the service.
and yes i use the word stupid since they made sins without copy protection and does not require applications to run it.
PS. I can understand people not liking steam and thats fine but i haven't read one valid reason from the list above to hate it.
And you can play steam games OFFLINE. If steam cannot connect to their servers it AUTOMATICALLY goes into OFFLINE MODE which allows you to play ALL and ANY games you want to BOTH ONLINE AND OFFLINE. OFFLINE MODE just means that you cannot use the shop, community or steam achievements. you can also tell it not to update games which does work
So if I want Half Life 2 I shoudl go ask Valve to put that game up on impulse?
Still cant see the replies to this thread.
You're seriously complaining that Stardock isn't allowing you to obtain a game they published from a 3rd party that by some, might be considered as the competition?
Impulse doesn't need to be running--or even installed--to run our games. It is only necessary to install/update. Beyond that point, the game won't care a lick if you've uninstalled Impulse completely.
Overgeneralizations don't do anything for your cause though. There aren't a dozen different clients. There are actually exactly 2: Steam and Impulse. D2D, Gamersgate, GOG are all client-free. Granted D2D uses Fileplanet's downloader thing but that's not really the same thing. And of those, Steam is the only one that needs to be running to play.
I find it rather ironic that you're complaining about that but then your "sysem of choice" is the only one that actually does it
I haven't seen any real Steam hate here either, just a few people saying Impulse works better for them.
Because online, you dont need distribution companies like 'Game.' Online the middle man is cut out if you have your own distribution platform which= more £/$ etc for the devs. So every company could have their own platform , not produce hard copies and save a shed load of money not being financially raped by distributors...
(Im not sure about how much it costs to run your own platform charging shop prices vs selling to distributors...)
+1!!!!
Anti-Steamers of the world UNITE!
I have both Steam and Impulse on my system and they coexist happily together. As a matter of fact, they get together for the occasional brunch and even send each other cards on the Holidays. It's really quite cordial.
Don't you think Steam might be getting lonely on your system? I mean, it's there, caged and alone without another digital download service to hang out with. I've watched your copy of Steam try to play tennis by itself, it's quite sad.
Think of the children. Install Impulse.
maybe u should know somethign about the client you refuse to use. It doesn't have to be either installed or running to play sins, it is just needed to install the game. if u dont want it on ur computer after that, you can remove it.
This bit made me laugh.
