What are your "bad teamates" stories?
-I've had at least 3 or 4 regulus players who just stand at the health crystal using snipe the entire game, not even going out to farm creeps and staying at level 1
-I had a Sedna teamate that went "pure stats" and got no ability until level 7, at which point the game was already over
-I had an Erebus teamate that went a pure mist build. He would type "lol they fell for my mist" every time an enemy demigod (sometimes 2 or 3) was waiting to kill him when he came out of mist. He never once succeeded at killing an enemy demigod or actually escaping death. At the game's final moments he typed furiously to everyone that his teamates sucked and didn't do anything.
-ANYONE that claims their teamates suck before the end of the game. I mean, seriously, I think this way sometimes but I never call them out and act like a jerk
Anyone else have some funny stories?
Ar you serious?
Mist is the most OP ability in the game!!! nerf nerf nerf
I played with a really bad Oak the other day... which is fine, we all had to learn sometime right?
It was funny though, I was QOT and was locking the gold flag out of range and he comes along and starts attacking one of the two towers on Cat. Its way too early to push... plus we're down quite a few kills but oh well so I keep him shielded until the enemy team comes along when I tell him to run. He replies "Don't worry, I'm a suicide Oak!" and continues to attack the tower until he's dead and last stand takes effect. He then rises from the dead and keeps attacking the tower... but doesn't destroy it.
I've had the bad players who blame their teammates, but rarely with so much drama.
My worst was in a pantheon match, my TB teammate did not move for about 2 minutes. I was on the verge of quitting when he started moving, so I think "Maybe we can come back" All he ever did was stand between our first 2 towers and autoattack, or protect our health crystal for another extended stay.
Just the other day had a teammate saying it was his first match. My other teammate and I convinced him out of Rook, so he went Queen. He focused on shield and support that match and (though the other team wasn't expressly bad) we pulled a win. I was pleased. (He did get the priest creep after I suggested he get priest minions. Since it was after the patch it wasn't a disasterous feed-the-other-team, it was just amusing.)
I had a tb teammate who complained vocally for 5 minutes that i didn't shield him whilst he was dying to a tower.
He was on completely the other side of the map. i was an erebus.
Had a rook camp out in the exp flag on cataract, teeling my other teammate and i that he would "hold the middle flag" and we would win. We could not convince him to attack any grunts, or go for upgrades. The enemies actually left him to the middle so as to keep him at a pitiful level. He ragequit when a lvl 14 erebus waltzed into his 2 tower farm and misted him to death. No attacks, just mist.
Had a teammate buy all the tower damage upgrades, after we had all our towers and forts destroyed, and were being seiged at the citadel. because "priests would feed them". We had no portals at the time.
Had a regulus teammate ask me how to snipe one of OUR team, so as to cause the other team to think we were in chaos, and were fighting amongst ourselves. When i told him you couldnt, he tried trhowing mines at my feet. He raged soon after he relaised that didnt work either.
Pre- v 1.1 Watching a lvl 5 oak about to run into a 3v1, trying to convince him not to do it, only to be met with "don't worry, ive got a secret tactic."
So i watched with glee that I could bare witness to so shady and mysterious a secret tactic.
He summoned monks when he was half health. And then proceeded to rage that the "HOW COULD STARDICK EVEN THINK TO NERF PRIESTS, THEY DO NOTHING!?!?"
Keeps me highly amused.
Words out of my mouth... reading these stories makes me feel really really lucky. I had my share of weak teammates and ragequitters of course, and i've had opponents call me stupid and berate me then split away when we were about to win (and take the win alone with everyone else taking a dc loss - still not sure it was not intentional)
But nothing out of the extremes i read here. I hope i can keep dodging that bullet in the future as well.
I had a Regulus player criticize me today for going 'heal' spec' on Sedna. It was me and him verses an UB and Ereb' on the Prison map. We were round about level 2-3 at the time. He reasoned that I should be focusing on damage, and of course I had picked up a level of Pounce by then, but he wouldn't keep his distance from the enemy, and kept dying, despite me healing him.
Wether his tactic would have worked any better is open to debate. I am certain it would have ended the same, if not worse, but I was bemused to be effectively critized for healing him.
I've been very lucky too, the vast majority of people I've played with have been pretty civil. There was one game, a 3v3, I was playing Sedna. My two teammates would go into battles, then BOTH start typing "HEAL". Of course I was healing them, as fast as my cooldown would allow, but no matter which one I healed, the other one would get mad at me and type "Why did'nt you heal me!". Perhaps if they had "Zero Cooldown" and "Unlimited Mana" items in the Artifact Shop, I would have been able to keep them from getting upset. . .
OMG I'm laughing so hard at that regulus who thought he could shoot his own teammates!!!!
Yeah, this is strategic man, they think we are in chaos and then KABOOM. For all its worth, I want to meet these people
I once had a game with an inexperienced Sedna player. We lost the game partly because of him buying priests early. Nothing new, so I told him that doing so is not exactly a winning strategy.
To my surprise he apologized for letting me down and admitted not knowing Sedna inside out yet.
This was proof for me that he was a noob. Experienced players might play as bad as him, but they usually give you the STFU routine when you dare criticize their stellar performance.
"Dont cap the portal flag, farm the creep"
/on ziggurat
//had no other mid flags.
///dominate
I had a Queen of Thorns as a teammate that never got bramble shield
epic^^
Actually, everyone I played with this tournament was competant
The worst one was an UB cant remember his name, but he kept feeding the enemy team, but he was good spirited about it.
Also an erebus with 500 ping was annoying, odly enough we still won even though he was a good 7-8 lvls behind everyone else and we were fighting the twin Reg premade srdave srbob or whatever their names were. Took some time though.
Had a game where it was me (UB) + Rook + Sedna. Sedna always kept herself on the other side of the map and many times we were left fighting off 2v3 (they were rook/oak/sedna). Needless to say, they used teamwork and our Sedna didn't bother coming over to be with us. When the Sedna did come over, we would easily drive them off and/or kill them... but that happened like.. twice? He would also stop with 500 health and write "Run" to the rook while he was being gang banged by 3 speed stackers
Too busy giving tips the entire game instead of playing with us as a team. When our Rook got a crash to desktop I just said gg and quit
precious!
During the Pantheon I played with a Sedna player who didn't heal anyone but himself. He just went around trying to destroy fortresses all through the game.
A while back I played with a QoT who didn't know Bramble Shield could work on allies when I asked why he wasn't helping us out in combat. I don't mind playing with new players at all, but I get irked when people don't play as a team, as the case with the Sedna player.
One of my favorites was on Cata when the game first came out. I was an Oak playing with an ooze UB. We were doing pretty well right up until the middle of the game. The UB clearly was not going for a proper build, and he started dying at frequent intervals. I didn't really care, I just thought maybe he was trying to figure a build out. I decided I would start baby sitting with shield and whatever else I could. At one point he is being double teamed by a rook and a QoT. They weren't doing too much damage to him at the time, but were certainly wearing him down. As he was fighting, he wasted a few good seconds to type "hit me with shield, im going to run." He starts to run away with extremely low health, and I wait until the last possible second to hit him behind our lines. It works, he's home free. Then I see his death up top, and I'm extremely puzzled by this. Turns out he turned on ooze because he "was afraid they were going to gank him from behind." He then proceeds to rage on me for not shielding him a second time, then quits. I was a little amused by this, but way more confused than anything.
The worst games, however, are playing with ragers and kids with big egos. But I guess you'll have that in any game...
Some very funny stuff. Wish I could add a story myself but I've had pretty good luck with civil people. The bad ones I try to ignore chat and usually forget about them as soon as the game is over.
They should have disclaimers in the manual (or at the startup screen) that proclaims stuff like:
This is NOT an MMORPGSedna is NOT a PriestRook is NOT a TankSinglePlayer games are for 'training'.MultiPlayer games are NOT the same as SinglePlayer games - BEWARE!
Stuff like that.
Hehe some real nice storys here.
Im pretty new myself .... as ive just recently got my connection going so i can play online.
Played 6 games online so far. all 3 V 3 and i lost all of them... But i am pretty sure i wasnt the cause...
The 15 deaths UB in my last match, who thinks escaping at 200 hp from a sniper(there were 2) reg is an awesome plan because he has a wand of speed
The tower rook who had a nice forest going on and then decided he would go for a walk right into a mine field, then some towers of the oposing rook and a TB was moving in. it wasnt till after the rain of ice on his head, all the mines exploding and the towers opening fire that it dawned to him that escape was a good option. Sadly he used a teleport scroll and was dead (had he moved out of the towers hed be fine tho)
The regulus who likes to snipe full HP gods with his rank 2 snipe when most the guys were running around with 5K+ hp
Ah well... i will win a game soon i hope
I've never been a part of this but I've seen other teams do it.
Not capturing the portals on the map intentionally to farm the creeps from them. While this might sound like a good strategy, when our war score is 8 and yours is 4 or 5, you are doomed even if you have a little one level advantage from doing that.
I was in the game with you, playing your TB teammate. His name was lukasbradley, and he was probably the best "first timer" I've played with. He started out shielding me, allowing me to stay in lane much longer. I was a bit nervous when he chose QoT (but not as nervous if he had kept Rook), but he took instruction well, and we also got lucky cuz the other team wasn't very good, imo. It was actually a very good game, and poor danomax ragequit, thinking we were a premade.
Checking his history, he lied to us! It was his SECOND game...
I call it "Lumberjack Mode"
I had an oak trying to kill me (I was ice TB with frost aura, sludge trinket and HP stacking) so not only was he doing 30% less damage, I was also a lot higher in HP and his attack was also slow by the frost aura. He started running back. NP I followed him into his towers. He wanted to use a quick battle potion but instead dropped it. I killed him and picked up the potion and was wondering WTH he gave me a potion. My whole team laughed on that one. Then I saw him a second time.. He proceeded to try to kill me the same way.. this time he almost killed me, I followed him into his towers, drank his potion and killed him again. It was extremely hilarious. I survived that one.
Two things that always make me laugh, though I notice it more in opponents than my teammates:
