I've given this the weekend and Monday to see if Frogboy mentioned this in one of his updates. If he has, then I've clearly missed it and apologise pre-emptively.
My local retailers that are a bit more on-the-ball than the others posted the new release date on their websites on Friday evening/Saturday morning (+2GMT) already. The rest caught up yesterday. Checking out Amazon in Germany and the UK also revealed the new release date while France claims to have received the game on 7 May already and are currently out of stock. Most Australian online retailers I checked out claim to have the game available for purchase already while others have it for pre-order without any release date.
So what's going on? The international retail release was pushed back a week without any official news (that I can find) from Atari or Stardock. Did Stardock request it be moved in light of the final multiplayer fix only being scheduled for release late this week?
Atari's date has been the third week of May for a while now--likely the store saying May 7 just hasn't updated.
kryo,
Reading over my post again I think there's been a misunderstanding. I wasn't referring to the 7 May 2009 release date being pushed back to 15 May 2009. As the sub-title of my post says (which I now know is a bad place to put critical information) I was referring to the 15 May release date being pushed back to 22 May.
Can you give any feedback on that in light of Frogboy's recent blog/journal post stating that you guys are gearing up for the European/Asian release tomorrow (and Amazon Germany saying they'll only have the game from 22 May)?
When I preordered Demigod from EB (Australia) the release was 7th May. Then it was pushed back to 21st of May. Now the website has been changed for a third time to "TBC" which I assume means To Be Confirmed. Regardless it must mean the date has been changed again.
I'm jonesing for DG. Does anybody know what is going on?
99.9% of the places i've seen it mentioned say May 7th, once a date is out, most places don't care to ever update it till after that date has passed, sadly.
Yeah same thing happened to me and I had paid off the preorder. So yesterday I canceled my preorder and bought it on impulse. It is annoying waiting so long for games in Australia.
Sadly until I change providers I can't afford the bandwidth otherwise Impulse would have been my first port of call.
OK, there's a handful of us wondering about this and today's the day for the release Frogboy says is happening in Europe and Asia. If we don't hear anything soon I'll start a new thread... Perhaps the Stardock support guys on these forums don't revisit topics they think they've addressed.
I went in to pick up my preorder today, and was told that it had been pushed back another week here in Aus.
It's a little bit frustrating; I don't really want to punish my local retailers by withdrawing a preorder because Atari can't get its act together on distribution.
I like to have a physical copy of my games, digital download is nice as a backup, but I really with they'd get this right.
